The staff at Hillside have been absolutely immense all the way through my aunt's stay, my aunt was particularly challenging as she had very poor sight and hearing, however they took all this in their stride and made her as comfortable as possible.
Sadly, my aunt passed away on the 1st October and
again your staff were fantastic, we got a call on Friday the 27th September advising us that the doctor has said that he felt my aunt was not doing well and he considered it to be end of life, we called at the care home and my wife and daughter spent the night with her. Your staff kindly made my wife and daughter cups of tea and actually made a sandwich for them.
They treated my aunt with the upmost respect and looked after us when we were with my aunt for her last days.
We cannot praise your staff enough and please pass on our most sincere gratitude to everyone at the care home.

I have been a resident at Hillside Lodge for 2 weeks. I have enjoyed my stay here very much. The rooms are very clean and tidy. All the staff have been very kind and helpful. Also, the food is excellent and the management very helpful.

My Mother was admitted for respite care while my Father was in palliative care. She had been in hospital and needed care that could not be provided at home. The staff were absolutely magnificent in their response in providing this, from arranging her transportation from the hospital to Berwick and then
to the care that was provided for her recovery meaning that she could return home.

My mother has been a resident for a couple of months in that time there has been a marked improvement in her physical and emotional health, confidence and well-being. It is a joy to know that she is safe and looked after by a very professional caring and compassionate team of staff in all roles. Care
extends to the family too as we are always made welcome and it is obvious that all staff know and understand my mother well and are interested in her as a person. At this time of change in both of our lives, I consider myself fortunate that my mother could not be in better hands.

The management and all the staff at Hillside Lodge are amazing. They are always on hand to answer any questions I have regarding my mum's care. The place is spotlessly clean and my mum's room is lovely. She enjoys the food and joins in the activities. She has made friends in the home and is happy and

There are some lovely decent care staff working here. They are kind and caring and that counts for a lot. That’s the best that can be said about this place. I’m going to focus on the food. It’s appalling.
Meat is almost always cheap pork. Beef or lamb is rare and chicken is seemingly banned. Most days
the veg is mash and swede. Forget about fresh broccoli, cauliflower, tender stem, green beans or asparagus, even cabbage is a rare treat. Evening meals are always heavily processed sugary economy children’s meals. Think Spam or tinned spaghetti followed by tinned fruit salad and watery jelly. Don’t believe the promotional glossy pictures and don’t fall for the company platitudes about the care given to nutritional and balanced meals.
There is never anything special, such as a decent bit of cheese, maybe avocado in the salad or a decent bread roll. This is the cheapest possible food available. It’s the stuff of the workhouse and this company should be ashamed of themselves.
