I have been coming to Hillside Lodge for just over one year, a very pleasant experience during a difficult time in my friend's life. In the final hours and after, would like to commend the night staff for the dignity, respect and love shown to my friend. May you be heartened in your specialist care.

My husband has been in care since October 2022 to which he is very pleased with his care, the staff and management are very friendly and caring, I am so pleased he has settled in so well, I meet him out the home at times for coffee or lunch which is very nice for us both.

The care my mother received from the staff at Hillside Lodge was outstanding and nothing was too much trouble. They were caring and compassionate at all times. My mother was made as comfortable as possible right up until she died on 22/02/23. We as a family appreciate the help and support received from

My dad means everything to me and us as a family. It's very difficult to pass that level of care to someone else. However, since he has been a resident at Hillside my dad has improved, he looks clean and fresh and I know he likes the staff, he doesn't tell me that, I just feel it, by the way, he shouts
out to them and has banter with them. It's good for us to know he is in safe hands and well-fed. What more can you ask?

After a long period of time in hospital my Gran was offered a room very quickly, myself and my mother went to visit the home and from ringing the doorbell to leaving we felt that this was the home that we would like my gran to be placed in the staff were very friendly and the home is so homely something
that my gran would love.
My gran was discharged from hospital and when arriving was being sick and her health had deteriorated but thanks to the nurse in charge and the team my Gran was taken to the BGH where sadly she passed.
My gran did not get a lot of time at Hillside but we know that she would have loved it and nothing was an issue when asked everyone was so caring and had a loving approach to care you can tell as soon as you walk into the home how everyone is cared for and as a family we can not thank Hillside enough for what they did for my gran and I would recommend anyone to Hillside.

I would start by saying there are a few very caring and considerate workers - but they are overshadowed by insensitive, condescending people in charge. The food is diabolical - the choice is limited, mostly canned and frozen, childlike food. Fish finger sandwiches for an evening meal. Constructive criticism
was not appreciated and sadly I had too much of that for them as it is an appalling place. Personal care was a bare minimum - my husband had no access to his toilet room/it was too small to accommodate a stand aid anyway. It was five months of torture for him and anxiety and worry for me. So pleased we managed to get out. I feel for others who would like to get out and can't and there are a fair few of them. Dreadful place.

My mother came in for respite for two weeks but liked it that much she wanted to stay. And she settled in very quickly and was very concerned she would be sent home. The home is home now, with excellent care, staff are very caring and very approachable. Her room is very clean, and the staff sign when
cleaned. No complaints at all. It's very, very reassuring when I leave her; not had that peace of mind for years. So I must say thank you.

We would visit often unannounced and everything was spot on, friendliness of staff, lovely clean smell fresh room. Mums bed and nighties spotlessly clean (my mum was bedridden). Mum quite content and peaceful. We would honestly recommend Hillside Lodge to anyone.

Brilliant home, excellent service from all staff. I am so thankful for the care shown to my Mother in law since she has been here the staff goes above and beyond in all care provided and I would highly recommend Hillside Lodge.

My friend and I had been friends for 25 years. Her husband and I were close friends and after his death I came regularly from Scotland to see her. The Covid pandemic meant I could not visit for two years, and now she was in care and receiving end-of-life care. Hillside Lodge made me welcome in mid-morning
and showed me to my friend's room. Gently they wakened her and left me to sit with her. A nurse/worker looks in every few minutes. They gave my friend sips of milk or water. Immobile she was comfortable, under beautiful embroidered bed sheets.

My mother has recently passed away in Hillside Lodge.
She had been there for 4 years and I can honestly say that from the minute she arrived she was well taken care off.
The staff were always there for her nothing was too much trouble, the management kept us informed of everything and did an amazing
job all through Covid I would recommend this home to anyone.

After much persuading my dear friend decided he would after all go for respite at Hillside Lodge Care Home for four weeks only. With much anticipation, I arrived for my first visit to find him somewhat looking different. there he was sitting up straight in bed, clean shirt, shaved and smelling fresh
having just had lunch (which he assures me was delicious) but most importantly looking happy. He talked about being comfy in his bed, sleeping well at night, thrilled to have a view out of a big window where a blackbird seems to have taken to entertaining him. Then there is the huge tv he has with a remote he can work with his clumsy hands. I can't thank all the staff enough for making him so welcome and comfortable and still letting him have his dignity at difficult times. I've a feeling he won't want to come back to his home of 50 years. Relaxed caring, considerate, helpful, thoughtful staff. They're great.

I recently visited a family friend in Hillside Lodge Care Home, the home is very welcoming, staff are very helpful he was so nice to be able to visit again after such an awful time throughout Covid.
When we visited the manager was very friendly and the activity team were very busy entertaining the
residents.

Vanessa has worked in the Elderly Care Sector for over 33 years. She started her career as a Care Assistant and worked her way up to the Unit Manager in 1991. In 2015, Vanessa joined as Home Manager. Vanessa has achieved a lot in her career, but her proudest achievement outside of her career would be deep-sea diving around the world! In her spare time, Vanessa enjoys spending time with her family and going holidays.
