Tastefully decorated to a high standard, Guthrie House offers accommodation in comfortable single-occupancy rooms, each with its own en-suite facilities, ensuring privacy and dignity in a homely setting.

Residents can relax in a choice of TV lounges, quiet sitting rooms, or enjoy the fresh air in the secure, enclosed gardens. Mealtimes are enjoyed in separate dining rooms that encourage social interaction, with traditional home-cooked meals prepared daily using fresh, locally sourced ingredients.

It was with trepidation that we looked for care for our father. Covid still loomed and we felt fearful. We were overwhelmed by the honesty and openness of the manager and reassured by the pathways in place to protect people. Dad has settled in so well. We can now take him out with safety measures. We
can visit regularly and enjoy the banter of this kind acting staff team. The lady in the office is a delight and so is the manager. The carers overwhelm you with their commitment especially being aware of the challenges and concerns not only of dad but just in general. We are so pleased we reached this decision to place dad in Guthrie. Thank you all just isn't enough. By the way, Facebook photos are fab.

It is without question that my father-in-law got nearly three more quality years of life due to the care he received at Guthrie House. The staff from management through to nurses, carers, support staff etc were professional and friendly and became a second family to my father-in-law. Thank you for all

It was very hard to come to terms mum couldn't look after herself. I needn't have worried. She has settled in with no problems, the staff are so friendly and caring, very respectful of mum's needs. Highlights having a hairdresser on-site, she's there every Monday morning, had a movie afternoon, and
painting classes. She's looking forward to when the bingo starts. Loneliness was a problem before she moved in but not now. Thanks to everyone who works here.

We chose Guthrie House because of its location and the fact there were nurses on each floor. We have been delighted with our choice. The staff (all of them) are caring and compassionate and interact in a warm manner with residents and visitors. Their care of my mother has been very comforting to me

Mum has been in the nursing home since July 2020. This means she did not receive visitors for a large part of the time. It also means we are less familiar with the facilities and staff than is ideal. We would love things to be relaxed further to help improve mum's quality of life. The staff seem very

The staff in this home helped at a very stressful time. My husband came in just a couple of months before lockdown and I was very pleased with his care. It was difficult not being able to visit but the staff were always there to tell you how things were doing with his care. I am looking forward to being
allowed back in when it suits us instead of having to arrange a time, but all in all, I am satisfied with my husbands care.

My mother came to the care home March 2021 was made extremely welcome, staff are absolutely lovely and friendly they seem like one big family. They keep the family informed on mums care. Nothing seems to be a problem for them, mum has settled in extremely well. She has been to art classes pictures,

I would like to take the time the thank Guthrie House as a care home for the outstanding care and attention they have given my mum and all the other residents. It’s hard enough not seeing her for over 10-months, but knowing most of the staff and management, I feel content that she is cared for. The
staff are compassionate caregivers. Management keeps relatives informed on all issues. We have regular Zoom meetings. The staff and admin have worked tirelessly throughout this horrible pandemic always with a smile on there faces. They maybe haven’t got the praise they should have from the government, but know I for one am very grateful to you all. Christmas was especially wonderful for the residents and relatives with lovely cards sent and a beautiful Xmas tree in the garden. Staff singing carols to the residents was an absolute joy to watch on social media. Thank from the bottom of my heart. 100% recommendation!

Cannot praise the staff enough for the care they have given Mum over the past few years. This last year has been particularly hard going for everyone at the home and we have total admiration for how well staff have managed. My mother in law has vascular and Alzheimer's dementia. Unfortunately, this meant she needed full-time care. We tried for 6 years to promote her independence in her own home but the time came when this was impossible. Guthrie House has been brilliant from day one. Mum in law is very challenging and
the staff are understanding and treat her with respect and dignity even when she is difficult. We are most satisfied as we know she is clean, fed, warm and of course safe. This has given us huge peace of mind, especially as we stay in Glasgow. Guthrie House isn't a palace by any means but the warmth and beating heart are the caring staff who work there. Thank you to all the nurses and carers, we are extremely grateful.

I was extremely comfortable and cared for in my own room. I had my own toilet and sink.
The nurses were kind and caring and nice to talk to. My daughter was allowed to visit me at any time.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff of the ground floor at Guthrie House, for looking after my friend whilst she was with you as an emergency admission from home, before being transferred to another nursing home where she awaited a bed. Particular thanks to the Deputy Manager for
his visit to the house and his kind, caring manner. The family and I are eternally grateful for the help given during those difficult few weeks. I would recommend Guthrie House to anyone who requires nursing home care.

With nearly 30 years of leadership in health and social care, Shirley Ramsay is dedicated to providing exceptional person-centred care and empowering her staff to achieve positive outcomes. Her extensive experience includes pivotal roles at Leonard Cheshire, Scottish Autism, and ELCAP, where she consistently achieved top ratings from the Care Inspectorate.


Since joining Guthrie House in April, she has been inspired by the talented and dedicated team. Shirley holds numerous qualifications, including an SVQ 4 in Health and Social Care and is an intermediate trainer in Positive Behavioural Support.


Passionate about outdoor activities, Shirley enjoys swimming, kayaking, jogging, and spending time with her family and friends.


Her greatest pride is her two incredible daughters.


Shirley believes choosing a care home should involve support, transparency, and kindness. She thrives on the diverse challenges of her role and the opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of residents and their families.
