Relatives are constantly dropping by, entertainers put on shows and activity co-ordinators and care assistants join in the fun, helping residents to enjoy the events and experience joy in later years.
Bus trips take place regularly throughout the week and whisk residents away to the coast as well as many other places of interest chosen by residents and, of course, weather permitting. St R’s embraces its art deco history and has been decorated in lively colours that match this exciting era.
The highly trained nursing staff are energetic and always on the go. The large kitchen provides catering for both St Raphael’s and neighbouring Marian House so it is always busy in there, the food is delicious and there is always plenty of it. A bright and sunny dining room with a bar, sitting room and home cinema space is at the heart of all the activity.
Other, quieter lounges are dotted about the home. So it's possible to have calm moments and some well-deserved ‘me time’ in one of the more private, homely lounges. In summer, the gardens are an abundance of colour with the smell of fresh flowers in the air as you relax and, hopefully, enjoy the warmer weather.
St Raphael’s also contains a specialist unit, known as Cunningham House, which caters for advanced dementia residents or those with mental health conditions, offering additional security and safety measures, specialist care and training.
St Raphael’s is a vibrant, happening place. Fresh Friday is a tradition – there’s a theme on the last Friday of every month where staff dress up accordingly, whether it’s all the colours of rainbow, a selection of silly hats or a letter of the alphabet, everyone is game.

Our fees are fully inclusive of all care and nursing requirements by our highly trained, friendly staff and include a regular review of care plans and communication. (Also inclusive of any care/nursing payments which a resident may be entitled to through local authority funding). We will discuss all care requirements with you upon application to ensure we can suitably meet the needs of the user.

If you choose a care home based in Scotland, you may be eligible for the Scottish Government's Free Personal Care funding of up to £260.30 per week (if you are over the age of 65) and Free Nursing Care funding of up to £117.10 per week. This support is not reflected in this fee amount.
St Raphael's is open for visitors at all reasonable times, pets are also welcome by arrangement. Joining in with resident activities is encouraged and larger visitor parties can attend for special occasions, but should be discussed prior to visit.”

St Raphael's is a very special and unique care home. All staff provide exceptional quality of care, respect and dignity and are willing to go above and beyond their responsibilities. Particular attention is given to each resident's needs and interests to make them feel happy and safe "at home" -...
St Raphael's is a very special and unique care home. All staff provide exceptional quality of care, respect and dignity and are willing to go above and beyond their responsibilities. Particular attention is given to each resident's needs and interests to make them feel happy and safe "at home" - this is clearly evident and of paramount importance to give relatives and others peace of mind. Room sizes vary but are fitted with quality furnishings and some of the resident's personal possessions. The gardens are easily accessible with continual improvements. Menus/drink choices vary and cater for all diets, the standard of cleanliness is first class, and the vast range of weekly activities ensures residents enjoy a very high quality of life, despite their circumstances. Relatives, friends and the community are encouraged to visit and participate in St Raphael's life. I have no hesitation whatsoever in highly recommending this care home to anyone, as I would live there!
