Etive House Care Home is a purpose-built care home that provides a superior standard of accommodation. The home is designed to promote small group living providing accommodation for 62 residents.

Although equipped with every modern comfort, Etive House nevertheless retains an air of unhurried tranquillity, a welcoming atmosphere and a sense of family that ensure residents feel relaxed and at home.

To make guests truly at ease requires dedicated staff. The home has such a team of staff who have an intuitive understanding of Etive House Care Home’s tradition of care, hospitality and service and residents are entrusted to them, certain that they practice these old-fashioned values in relaxing comfort.

Whilst staying at the home, residents will enjoy charming surroundings and from the moment residents walk through the door of Etive House Care Home they will find a very warm welcome.

The aim is to welcome everybody into the home, both family and friends. Etive House will try and make the transition into the home as welcoming as possible and hope that residents find it an enjoyable and happy place to stay.

Absolutely wonderful staff who care for residents as if they were their own family members. Mum is so happy here, it's great to see her having friends, joining in the activities and being so well taken care of.

I've been visiting my aunt at Etive House for over a year, and at each visit, the staff have been so welcoming. My aunt looks so much better than when she was at home. Great home and great staff team. The manager is very approachable.

My mother's care is exemplary. She is very happy and comfortable. She is very fond of the staff, and they are very attentive. My mother regularly comments on how good the food is.
With regard to her well-being, her weight and eating are being regularly monitored. In the event of a medical condition,
action is swift.
Communications are excellent, with regular updates provided in the event of a medical condition.
Visiting is a delight, and it is clear that the staff like her, which makes for my own feeling and satisfaction that she is being well cared for.
My mother is deaf and blind makes caring more problematic, but it is dealt with well. Hence I have not rated Activities.
I have only one criticism, and that refers to my mother's three pairs of shoes being rendered unfit for wear due to them having been washed. Despite assurances that they would be replaced, we are still waiting!

Etive House is a home-from-home, safe, loving, friendly, happy environment to live in. The staff show respect and dignity to my loved one at all times. As a family, we are encouraged to visit and take loved ones out anytime.

From the outset, the care and professionalism at Etive House have been second to none. Wonderfully warm staff and efficient service, lovely food and clean surroundings make for real peace of mind for us friends or families of residents. I was very struck by the tactile approach of the staff, showing
warmth, love and care to my friend and other service users. The residents are so well looked after and are treated with respect and as individuals, not just numbers. The residents are not rushed if they suddenly feel the need to sing a song mid-way through some hands-on care or as they are helped to dinner, and some of the staff may even join in!


I am so grateful that Etive House is in our area, as I can visit my friend and know that when I have to leave, she will be cared for and be having a rather good time. Well done to all staff and management at Etive House. You should be very proud.

My mum became a resident at Etive House in January 2022, when restrictions due to Covid were still alive and kicking. From the outset, my husband, my daughter and I sensed a great spirit within the home. The staff, led by the lovely manager, made sure that my previously extremely independent mum was
supported through the weeks and months, till she settled into this new way of life. The staff are all experienced in dealing with dementia and show great understanding in this area. Physical needs are also dealt with efficiently. They appear to have a great relationship with the practice. My mum has had GP input on a number of occasions and there are regular visits from district nurses. Recently, two carers took my mum to a very special event which was so important to her. Our whole family was touched by this level of care and attention. Food is excellent, rooms are comfortable and we feel secure in the knowledge that my mum is well looked after at this time in her life.

My Mother was a resident at Etive House for 4 years. The care she received was exceptional. All the staff were so caring and warm and friendly. We developed a relationship with them all which was rooted in trust. They were all so committed and kept the family well informed with everything in relation

My mother spent the last 4 years of her life at Etive House Care Home. The staff were excellent, extremely caring, and made my mum feel at home. This was very comforting for the family. The staff worked well as a team and were always motivated at work and this created a positive atmosphere. When we

We cannot recommend Etive House Care Home enough, my father has been there for 18 months now and he is much happier there than he was at home. The staff are exceptional and treat my dad like a member of their own family, they go out of their way to make a happy day for the residents, making sure they
are entertained and kept occupied. My dad loves the food and gets ample amounts of tea all day to which he loves and he has put on weight and he is much more mobile. He enjoys everyone’s company when he walks about all day with his personalised trolley the staff so kindly provided for him. The staff always keep you updated on anything we need to know and it’s never a bother to ask them anything anytime day or night. Etive House Care Home is a home from home and would 100% recommend it to anyone looking for family members to be in such safe caring hands.

I cannot thank the staff at Etive House Care Home enough for caring for our mum. They are an amazingly dedicated team that showed loving care and empathy every day. Nothing was too much trouble. It was a comfort knowing that she was being looked after so well.

Highly recommend Etive House. Fantastic staff, all so friendly and helpful who work together as a great team. Staff were so good to my aunt in the time she was there and gave her end-of-life palliative care. Staff were always caring and kind and always contacted me with updates. I felt my aunt was safe
and well looked after, especially as I don't live nearby, so wasn't always easy to visit and also more difficult during covid. A big thank you to management and staff.

I had a client who became ill and could not remain at her home. She entered the care home for respite and then sadly died. The care shown to the client was excellent right up to the end. The staff were so kind and caring.

Well organised, well managed, and truly caring staff, all work together harmoniously, in this residential home, so that my father, and the other residents, have the best quality of life in their twilight years.
My dad, who has problems with his memory, was treated with respect and consideration for
his wishes, and it was just as if he were a member of their family.
It was a joy to see his delight in getting a chance to garden again and for him to laugh with the carers as they shared a joke.
This was during the pandemic, with a lot of stress around for our family about Dad, and their care and communication with us as a family was excellent. I am so grateful for their help.

Could not recommend Etive House enough; they have had our mother for the last several years. Staff are friendly and helpful in any queries we have. Brilliant at phoning to keep us informed if Mum has any problems. Should be proud of themselves during the last year with Covid and keeping the home safe.

My mother went into Etive House Care Home in December 2020 straight from the hospital. She has settled in fairly well considering we are in a pandemic and visiting only started in March. Her mobility has greatly improved, and she has put on 5kg in weight and just looks so much better. I believe this
is largely due to all the caring, efficient and compassionate staff who work there. There is a very nice friendly, happy and homely atmosphere in Etive House. Our family was very pleased when our mother was offered a placement here.

My mother has been in Etive House since September 2020. Her care has been exemplary. The staff really care about the residents and go that extra mile to make their lives as good as possible. They think up creative and imaginative ideas to get my mother involved with other residents making her life much
more fulfilling. Her many medical needs are well met, and she is observed regularly making me feel very comfortable with the care given to her.

My mum became a resident during the summer of this year. While the restrictions were in place we were unable to visit her. We kept in touch by phone and always felt that the staff were happy to update us on our mum's health etc.
Mum took part in the organised craft sessions and movie nights organised
by Etive House. She also loved the dog Breagha and the cats in the home as she always had a cat throughout her life. We felt that they not only cared for my mum but also looked after my dad when he was able to visit. The warmth and genuine care shown to my mum was 10/10. My mum sadly passed away in Etive House last week and the staff were all so tender and loving with my mum and so supportive with us as a family. They work so hard to provide normality for their residents in such strange times and are an absolute credit to Etive House. Mums room looked out onto Ben Lora and the viewpoint at the top. The home is spacious and super clean with very homely features. I recommend this 100%

My mother-in-law has been in Etive House for just over two years now, and we have found the staff to be exceptional in their care and attention to her.
Praise, in particular, must be given for how they have managed through lock-down, putting their own lives on hold to care for the residents in the
safest way possible, and in the ensuing period of uncertainty, we are in now. We have been informed at every stage what extra measures were being put in place and what the procedures were in terms of being allowed to visit. Thank you very much to all.

Meet Our Manager!


Georgina has always been passionate about providing exceptional standards of care and started her career in Edinburgh as a Care Assistant, before qualifying as a Registered Nurse.


Having taken up the post over four years ago, Georgina finds her role as Manager at Etive House very rewarding – particularly seeing first-hand the impact of the positive changes her team make to the lives of residents within the home every day.


Working with the team at Etive House, Georgina has been able to revitalise the home and improve its Care Inspectorate grades whilst striving to change the culture to become even more inclusive and friendly

Job Title: Deputy Manager Joined: 2009

Mhairi began working in care in 1989 and was a day centre coordinator for Age Concern in Northern Ireland. When Mhairi moved back to Scotland in 2009, she began working at Etive House. Having initially applied for a post as a Senior Carer, she was encouraged to apply for the role of Unit Manager, and eventually, when the opportunity arose for a position within the home as Deputy Manager, Mhairi tentatively applied and was delighted to be the successful candidate. Mhairi has loved seeing how the home has progressed over the years and being an integral part of it. She also enjoys working closely with the residents and the care team, spending time with them, and having the opportunity to take on new ideas and suggestions to make the home the best it can possibly be for its staff and residents.

Morag has been with the service for around 15 years as a Senior Care Assistant. Morag brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the senior staff team. Morag delivers the highest care and always goes above and beyond for the home and the residents. Morag is a huge support to her colleagues and remains passionate about delivering person-centred care.

Arfon has worked at Etive House since March 2015 starting as a Care Assistant before applying to become a Senior Carer. Since then, Arfon has also developed a passion for training development and gained his moving and handling training certificate enabling him to support others within the team as the home’s Training and Development Coordinator. Arfon absolutely loves his job at Etive House as the residents and staff team feel like one big family and the team are focused on caring for residents to a high standard, going above and beyond to make sure they live happy lives.

Michelle started her career as a care assistant in Etive House and has progressed to senior care assistant and is now the IPC Champion for the service, providing outstanding support, staff training and care through the most intense periods of the Covid outbreak and continuing to ensure we are compliant, and our staff feel supported and well trained. Michelle consistently goes above and beyond for the home and the residents.

Lorna Stevenson is the Head housekeeper here at Etive House and has previously worked in the hospitality sector for 26 years, starting as a housekeeper assistant and lastly Executive Housekeeper within a 4/5 star environment. Having worked in both residential and nursing homes in Glasgow as a Care Assistant which she greatly enjoyed, she was delighted when this position came up as she would be able to successfully combine her two passions – cleaning and caring for the elderly. Lorna loves that at Etive House there is fun, laughter and hope. She is excited for the future of the ever-progressive care home and how the team can surpass all previous achievements with motivation and enthusiasm.
