Overall Experience
My dad has only been at Elderslie Nursing home for the last week, but in that week the staff have made my dad feel settled and happy and are always happy to answer any questions we have.
Dad is enjoying the company that he didn’t have in sheltered housing and is enjoying the food.

From what we can see the staff are all kind and helpful and we have no worries that our dad is being well looked after.

Reply from Paul Lawson, National Sales Manager at Elderslie Care Home

Hello and thank you so much for your review. We are delighted that your dad has settled in so well and is enjoying life at Elderslie. Reassuring to know that you and the family feel welcomed and reassured that your dad is safe and well looked after. Best wishes.

I sat with my dear friend of forty years on his last day on earth as Social Work officers presented notice of an eviction order to him. They read out all his misdemeanours and said the order had been given - no reprieve. I asked for a Counsellor or psychiatric help for my friend. Not possible. He died during the night.

My father was admitted to the Chrysler unit in November 2022, and we were always able to visit regularly. He became very poorly at New Year, and the family were able to be with him when he passed away.

The staff were excellent and professional and supported all the family to allow us to be together at this time. We appreciate all the care he was given and the attendance at his funeral.

Dear James, thank you very much for your review, and on behalf of the whole team, our thoughts and condolences to you and the family following your recent loss. It's reassuring to know that, in the short time your father lived at Elderslie, you felt supported and were pleased with the care he received. Best wishes.

I visit regularly and I cannot fault the service. The care that my Father receives is person-centred and he is given respect and his dignity is upheld. The food is suited to match my Father's dietary requirements and his room is cleaned regularly and is kept tidy, as well as tending to his medical needs.

The home is clean and well maintained, and the staff are friendly, professional and approachable. Best of all, my aunt is happy. She likes the food and the atmosphere. She's no longer neglecting herself because she's getting the right level of encouragement and support. I could not be happier.

Review from Jani H (Daughter of Resident) published on 12 October 2022 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

The care that my mother receives is excellent. However, the care does not stop there - it extends to the rest of the family. They have called me previously to make sure my dad was ok as he did not make his usual visiting time. They know all the family which is fantastic because it gives them plenty to talk to with Mum. I have visited a few family members in different care homes and Elderslie is by far the best. There is always a good buzz about the place and plenty of laughter - just like home.

Since my mum went to Elderslie she is happy, well looked after. All the staff I have met are brilliant. My mum was very thin after 9 weeks in hospital, very confused and depressed. The staff listened to my concerns and did everything to make mum feel loved and important, she is well-nourished always clean, and never lonely. I get updates regularly. Can't praise the staff enough.

Coates unit, thank you for taking care of my lovely mum. My mum became a resident of this unit in August, from the first day, she was made welcome, the staff all got to know mum so well, got to know her likes and dislikes. The staff were amazing, put a fantastic care plan together to suit mum's needs, mum was safe there. Her dementia and health issues sadly got the better of her, and sadly she left them to go to heaven in November. During that time, mum was happy, had excellent care, their communication with myself was outstanding. So humble and appreciative of the staff, when giving your loved one to complete strangers, to see that they unconditionally love and care for your loved one, can only thank them wholeheartedly. Coates unit staff are a great team, I feel blessed knowing these dedicated ladies cared for my mum.

I can not recommend the Coats unit of Elderslie care home enough. The care, respect and dignity they should our dad, was second to none. It was a very difficult decision for us to put him into this home during the middle of last year. We weren't able to go inside and see the facilities or meet any of the staff, but for the last few months of his life, they looked after him with such care; we had no worries. They communicated with us regularly, and in the final week of his life, we couldn't have coped without them. Thank you.

I live in Hong Kong and the main means of contact with my Mum is by telephone. The staff at Chrysler Unit are very good and set up a Skype connection on a video call which is the next best thing to being there. When I call up I am always treated well and given a full update on my Mum’s health and welfare. My Mum could not be in better hands. Thank you.

Review from Elizabeth F (Daughter of Resident) published on 7 November 2018 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My mum was admitted to the home for respite care. From the admittance procedure and welcoming, until Mums discharge, I found the staff to be caring, efficient and effective. They were very respectful of Mum’s privacy and dignity and cared for her right to self-determination.
They impressed me by the knowledge they had of my mum’s care needs, obviously having read her pre-admission paperwork. Having retired from a career caring for older people myself for many years, eventually being a Unit Manager in Residential Care Homes, I am very aware of the standard of care demonstrated in homes and found it to be very good in this care home.

Thank you so much for taking care of my mum so well.

My mum was a resident at Elderslie Care Home for a year and 6months. Sadly she passed away at the weekend. I don't have words to express how wonderful the staff on the Phoenix unit were with my mum giving her the dignity, care and love that eased her passing. As a family, the staff were supportive without being intrusive and gave us the peaceful environment we needed. Thank you for making a difficult time a little bit easier. xx

I find the staff very pleasant and helpful, having witnessed how they gently deal with the people in their care. The attention they pay to the residents finding out their interests and getting them engaged playing cards, dominoes and singing. I always receive a warm welcome. My mother actually told us how good the home was when she used to visit one of her friends there.

Good quality of care given. Nursing staff are very quick to pick up any different medical problems and deal with them efficiently calling a GP when necessary. Care staff know residents well and help them to choose meals that they know the resident's likes. A number of the staff go well beyond the level of care expected and do little extra things to make residents comfortable and happy eg buying ice cream for dad which is a favourite of his when he wasn't well and off his food it helped get him back to eating again

My husband was admitted for care at Elderslie in Feb 2017 and from day one felt all staff very welcoming and approachable. Within 24hrs of not being out of bed for 3 weeks in hospital my husband met me fully dressed and smiling, nothing could have made me feel better immediately, as a family we had made the correct choice of care home. He has continued to progress and seems happy and contented especially with having vascular dementia he is encouraged to be as independent as possible and I never worry when leaving.
