Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
I was grateful to find a safe place for my mother following a fall at home. The manager was accommodating and helped regarding our needs. Generally we had a positive experience; the chef was very obliging and made a special effort with residents' needs. Staff also friendly and helpful. The manager was
always visible which was reassuring. On the negative side, my mother found noise levels from dementia clients was obtrusive, although she appreciated the issues with this. Small details like no soap in toilet also.
Reply from Paul Lawson, Head of Sales and Marketing at Madeira House Residential Care HomeThank-you very much for your positive experience at Madeira House. We are delighted to have been able to assist your dear mum. Thank-you also for raising the other points which we will feedback to our team. My Dad recently entered Norwood for respite care. The staff are amazing and he settled straight away. He has late stage Alzheimer's and other health concerns and he is like a younger fit man again, relishing all the interactions and connections he's making. I can't praise Norwood enough. We are so lucky
that our father is being cared for so very well. Thankyou Norwood

The staff in the home are just fantastic. I can't speak highly enough of them, they are so caring and cheerful. The unit my mum is in is also very wll-staffed in terms of numbers and this is critical to the care provided.
The rooms are basic and could do with renovating but on balance ai would rather
trade this for the staff.

Maycroft Residential Care

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
We looked at several care homes but put my father in Maycroft simply because the residents were clearly happy - it's a home. Other care homes felt like we would be leaving him at an airport, physically well looked after but lonely. Whenever I visit him he's in the social area and smiling. He likes the
activities they run and the companionship of the staff and other residents. If my children put me in Maycroft when my time comes I'll be perfectly happy about it - I think that's the best you can ask for

I felt the need to. give this review in recognition of all the staff in making Pauline's transition from our home into Woodstock ,it's been a challenging month for Pauline and myself and will continue to be with her illness but myself and our family have been pleased with the dedication ,professionalism
and care given to myself and Pauline .
Every member of staff from the maintenance man ,chefs ,cleaners ,laundry ladies and carers have supported me personally and continue to do so .I feel the need to mention a few who I would like to praise Ceri ,who from day one has built a professional bond with me ,listening to my queries and supporting with changes as required,Karina for her love and energy ,Lucy bubbly caring and considerate ,Anna and Laura both professional and caring
Finally to the two chefs whose food is of the highest quality and served with dignity and passion .
I hope you can pass this on the team
Regards Rod and family

Mill View Care Home

from Alisha R (Granddaughter of Resident) published on 15 December 2025

Overall Experience 1.0 out of 5
My grandma was unfortunately abused here for months. We repeatedly raised our concerns with staff, then with management, only to be lied to and ignored. They continually denied our serious concerns, even though my grandma was often left unwashed, dehydrated, and not properly fed.
Residents receive
little to no human interaction, and any health concerns are dismissed. The staff's neglect had potentially life-threatening consequences, yet they still refused to take our concerns seriously.
A social worker intervened multiple times and instructed the home to follow the care plan, as their actions were putting my grandma at risk and a safeguarding report was put in place.
Due to the lack of showers, my grandma developed wounds that became infected. When we took her to the doctors, they were shocked at how long the infection had been left untreated.
We eventually found a new care home, and my grandma had to be moved as an emergency because of the abuse.
Reply from Paul Lawson, Head of Sales and Marketing at Mill View Care HomeThank-you very much for your feedback, which is vital for us as we strive to maintain the very best standards throughout the service. We sincerely apologise for not meeting your expectations. Following input from a number of sources the home has now put into place a robust service improvement plan and with a new management team in place have taken positive strides forward. The senior leadership team will continue to monitor the improvements being made in collaboration with our external stakeholders. We send our very best wishes to your grandma and to all of the family.

My 81 year old mum was moved to residential care in Sep 2025. My mum was very aprehensive and worried. The staff have been exceptional in helping my mum feel welcome and settled. They take the time to make sure my mum, who is very quiet, participates in the activities. I feel my mum is benefiting from
the company & care she is receiving. And is a totally different person. :)

My husband has been in Norwood for some months now and I am extremely happy with the care he is receiving. All the staff, management, carers, nurses, housekeepers, kitchen and maintenance staff, provide a level of care which goes beyond their remits. He is treated with dignity and compassion and his
health is well looked after. If I have any concerns about him the manager and carers are happy to talk them through with me. He is encouraged to take part in daily activities and I have the opportunity to join him for monthly lunches in the Bee Kind cafe and at regular entertainment.
I have peace of mind knowing he is being well cared for and am so glad I listened to the friends who told me about Norwood. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a care home for their loved ones.
