Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Oxford Manor in Didcot offers excellent care. My dad is there on a permanent basis and my mum has recently stayed for respite recuperation.

The nursing and care staff are friendly and helpful.

The management team are friendly, knowledgeable, extremely helpful and supportive.

The atmosphere

is really positive with residents encouraged to join in and welcome visitors and newbies.

The activities coordinator is committed to offering the best opportunities for the residents and actively encourages participation.

The food is very good with a great chef who is hands on in serving residents and understanding their needs and preferences.

The setting is clean and well kept with easy access to the garden where applicable for residents.

I would definitely recommend this home.

Our mum has been a resident since December 2024.
She spent a couple of weeks in hospital in June 2025 and we were keen for her to get back to her care home environment.
We find the care excellent.
She's had her care needs met very well.
Input from dieticians, physiotherapists, nurse practitioners,
doctors and pharmacists.
She has a specialised bed as well as sensored pressure mats on her chair. She uses a stand aid.
She has a large bright and airy room with en suite facilities.
There are also different lounges and bright dining areas.
The staff are friendly and informative keeping us aware of any change in her care.
Although she can't fully engage in activities she is encouraged to do so. She recently enjoyed the summer fete in the garden and has visited the Old Deer Cafe on various occasions.
She enjoys having her hair and nails done as she always did this prior to admission.

My mother has been resident in Elderslie Care home for almost a year now and I can honestly say that she is being very well looked after..The staff are all kind and caring and ready to accommodate any request. The same staff have been there since my mother moved in and they seem to genuinely enjoy
their work . Unlike other care homes I have experienced, there seems to be no turnover of staff which says a lot.The cafe which is open twice a month allows families to visit and enjoy a meal together which is a great idea. It's lovely to be able to 'do' something when you visit as my mother is no longer able to leave the home.
My mother has a lovely spacious room , always kept spotlessly clean , as is the entire care home. She visits the hairdresser regularly and enjoys getting her nails painted. My mother is sociable and enjoys the buzz of the care home.
I visited quite a few care homes before deciding on Elderslie and I would say that I am definitely happy with the choice.

My Relatives have been residing at Woodstock since February of this Year. It has been a difficult time for them in adjusting to everything that they knew being turned on its head.
The Staff one and all are very Special they work tirelessly to attend to the Comfort and Wellbeing of all the Residents
sometimes in very trying circumstances. I know my Relatives have settled there because of the unwavering Support the Staff give to them. Everything they need or want is catered to.
From a Relatives point of view it means that I can rest easy in the knowledge that they are being cared for as if they were the Carers own Relatives it is very comforting. So a big thankyou to everyone you have made my life a lot easier.

My mother has really enjoyed baking with the chef, she likes to feel needed and has most definately felt that way.
I do feel that the meals for vegetarians leaves a lot to be desired and could do with a major change, as at the moment vegetarian options are tasteless, and doesn't in any way look appetising
at all.
Reply from Paul Lawson, National Sales Manager at Bishop's Cleeve Care Home

Thank-you so much for your feedback which is vital to us as we strive to maintain the very best standards throughout. We will raise the vegetarian options with our hospitality manager and speak with your mother to offer some different choices that more suit her tastes. W are thrilled that your mum has enjoyed baking with chef so much. Best wishes.

The staff have been fantastic with my Auntie. The care provided has significantly improved her health and the staff have been out of this world. Mum's taken her time to settle into life at Bishops Cleeve Care Home, and to be honest, we always knew it would take a little while for things to kick in. However, with the fantastic care and attention paid to the qualdaily life of the residents, mum is suddenly flourishing in the community spirit that
if afforded each and every person who resides here. For example, recently mum had rediscovered her love for baking thanks to the staff's generous approach finding what makes the residents tick. Not only has it allowed mum to fell a part of what's going on but also rekindled her ability to write, which is no small thing considering the mobility limitations she's dealing with due to her Parkinson's issues. Personally, I cannot recommend this establishment highly enough. And as time goes on, it continues to amaze me how the staff and residents continue to create a sense of belonging and community in the home.
Thank you so much for all you do for mum!
Kindest regards from the family.
