Hammerwich Hall, near Lichfield, offers care packages tailored to older people’s needs. Carers are also experienced in the challenges of physical disability as well as stroke care. Packages are personalised to particular residential needs, including respite and convalescence provision.

A homely interior is enhanced by landscaped gardens, a sun lounge and many pleasing aesthetics from the home’s time as a private house before it was lovingly converted to suit modern care provision.

There are themed and monthly events to enjoy, as well as pub lunches, sing-alongs, games and gardening.

Thank you Hammerwich Hall Management, all carers and home employees.
My Mum as been living at Hammerwich Hall for almost a year now. She is 94 and lived at home with carers providing her care. It became impossible for Mum to stay at home any longer due to frequent falls and declining mental health.
Mum has had Parkinson's disease for 27 years and now has the onset of dementia. The care at Hammerwich Hall has been so respectful, and sympathetic to her symptoms not withstanding she can be very challenging at times, they are patient and kind.
Mums general wellbeing has improved and she is now settled in the homes environment. She joins in activities which is so good for her mental health.
Visiting Hammerwich Hall is like going to an extended family gathering. I have got to know some of the lovely residents and family members and feel so welcome when I walk in.
Mum moving to Hammerwich Hall has given me back quality time with her. I could go on.
Reply from Paul Lawson, Head of Sales and Marketing at Hammerwich Hall Care HomeThank-you so much for your kind words and for sharing your positive experience at Hammerwich Hall. It's wonderful that your dear mum has settled in so well and is enjoying her new home. It's nice to hear that you and the family feel so comfortable and welcome when visiting and we truly appreciate your heartfelt and complimentary review. Best wishes

Mum has been living at Hammerwich Hall now since July 2025 after it became increasingly difficult for my 93 year old father to look after her at home . It took mum some time to settle but helped by the lovely staff this is now her home and she is happy there . Mum is much more engaged with what is going
on around her thanks to the staff who provide activities and entertainment . The staff at the home are very caring and always welcoming to us as family. Managers and staff are always polite and friendly and professional and communication is good . They take time to get to know the residents which is important. Mum often comments on the lovely meals she has and so we must not forget the staff who work hard to provide meals for the residents , thank you, and of course cups of tea from the kitchen when they're busy. Nothing is too much trouble.
The home is gradually being refurbished and is beginning to look better , especially the new lounge .
Thank you to everyone for looking after mum
Reply from Lucy Biggs, Operations Director at Hammerwich Hall Care HomeThank you for taking the time to complete a review. We are so pleased that your mother has settled so well at Hammerwich and enjoying all the benefits of the home. We are pleased that you are liking the new lounge, it certainly has made a huge difference to the home, and we welcome the continuation of the refurbishment to the other communal areas. Cups of tea will always be available at Hammerwich!

My Mum has been living at HH for nearly four years and turned 99 last November.
The home has always had a warm and friendly atmosphere and the staff are always friendly, polite and professional. I see them as an extension of my family which is a real comfort. This also enables relatives to get to know
each other and adds enjoyment to our visits.
The local management team are there to talk to and advise whenever needed. Nothing is too much trouble.
I can go on a trip and know my Mum is in good hands.
Communication from the home is very good, keeping me informed of any changes to Mums care needs.
The home is a beautiful old building and does need investment which is gradually taking place. I am looking forward to the new chef starting which will also make a difference.
The activities manager works really hard to arrange events, special days and day to day games, exercises etc. She is a valuable part of the team!
Mum living at HH has really made a difference to me, thank you.

My mum considers Hammerwich as her home and I have a great relationship with the staff there - I consider them to be friends . Christmas as usual was amazing with the home decorated in every area and lots of activity days .
Reply from Lucy Biggs, Operations Director at Hammerwich Hall Care HomeThank you for taking the time to complete a review. Christmas indeed was truly special at Hammerwich Hall. The relatives choir this year topped it for originality and went down a storm. The home looked beautiful and every day was filled with Christmas cheer. Goodness knows what will be in store for Christmas 2026!

Mom has been living at Hammerwich since October 2024. She is 93 years old and struggles to verbalise her wants and needs. However due to the kind, caring and professionalism of ALL the staff, day and night, my Mom is treated with dignity and kindness and given time to try and express what she needs.
Just because she is unable to have a conversation does not mean she cannot understand what is going on. I see the staff talking with her not at her and making her laugh which is just wonderful. They allow me to continue to be involved in all aspects of her care which also helps my wellbeing. A relative informed me recently that if she ever needs to go into care can I please make sure it is Hammerwich Hall.
Reply from Lucy Biggs, Operations Director at Hammerwich Hall Care HomeThank you for taking the time to complete the review for our care home. Your opinion is vital for development for excellence. Your words of kindness and praise will be shared with the whole team. Mom has settled down nicely, and your care has been excellent. The only concern I have is when she presses the buzzer, it is never answered very promptly! You have a problem with weekend employment.
Reply from Paul Lawson, Head of Sales and Marketing at Hammerwich Hall Care HomeFantastic that your mom has settled in so well and that you and the family feel happy and re-assured about the care she is receiving at Hammerwich Hall. We had an issue one weekend with the call buzzer system which was quickly resolved and we send our sincere apologies for any inconvenience cause. Thanks again and best wishes.

Mom 93, was being cared for at home twice a day carers until mid July 2025. At home, she was becoming withdrawn and increasingly in need of fulltime care.
After moving into care in July, there has been a total transformation. Mom is now engaging and back to her normal self. She accepts and appreciates
the care given. Well done Hammerwich Hall, what a transformation. Thank you.
Reply from Paul Lawson, Head of Sales and Marketing at Hammerwich Hall Care HomeThank-you so much for your review and for sharing your positive experience. My wife and I visited Hammerwich Care Home, which is situated in a lovely rural environment, to view and arrange for respite care following a long period of treatment by varied bodies after my wife had a major knee operation in hospital. Though a busy day for the home on our visit there was a full
commitment to welcoming us. We had tea/coffee refreshments in their attractive tea room. The staff were well supporting of residents and visitors. The manager was very friendly and we had a comprehensive discussion of her needs and the facilities available at the home. We were then kindly provided with a lovely lunch. The home is very clean and the rooms are very comfortable and well equipped. We have now booked for a respite break, and are confident that all facilities are there to make her stay pleasant. A bonus was the unsolicited offer by the manager to get my wife to have her hair cut as the hairdresser was on the premises that day. A real help given her immobility problems.
Reply from Lucy Biggs, Operations Director at Hammerwich Hall Care HomeThank you for this lovely review, it was a pleasure to meet you both, and we are looking forward to seeing you soon for your respite break and hope you will both have great benefit from it.

My mother has been a resident at Hammerwich Hall care home for around 9 months now and I am truly grateful for the wonderful care she's receiving. She has dementia, amongst many other health conditions, and needs a lot of support however, I have actually seen such an improvement in her health and well-being
since she's been here. Her mobility and appetite have improved, and the staff are incredibly caring and attentive. I can't thank them enough for the difference they've made to her life and ours.

My mother has been in the facility since March 2024. Although physically well and mobile, she suffers from dementia and is now unable to live alone. The staff at Hammerwich are always smiling and welcoming, exactly the environment that my mother needs. Any phonecalls are answered promptly and the staff
always do their best to answer any questions quickly and efficiently. The recent appointment of the manager, has been wonderful! He is extremely passionate and enthusiastic about his role and encourages ideas and interaction between the home, residents and their families. The amount of activities has been increased and the residents are benefitting a lot. There are also plans to refurbish parts of the building, although it is a beautiful place already, elegant yet homely and the gardens are very nice. My mother used to love gardening and at Hammerwich she can continue the hobby she loved. Thank you to the staff at Hammerwich!

How lucky we are to have Dad in Hammerwich Hall. It is such a pleasure to visit him whenever we want. Dad has settled in well, with the Manager and staff team being friendly and welcoming. Their communication is very good - Dad is well cared for and changes are made to accommodate his needs. The home
is well presented. It is clean and thoughtfully decorated for each event/theme day. There is a weekly programme of varied activities, in which visitors can also take part. Regular meetings take place with residents and relatives. All areas of care including catering, cleaning, laundry etc. are superb. My parents were given a lovely anniversary lunch recently, attention to detail on decoration of the tea room and the menu. Such special memories created. A lovely, quiet and rural location, we highly recommend Hammerwich Hall.

Mom has been here three times now for respite, whilst we are on holiday and her latest stay (last week) was just as good as always!
She was made to feel very welcome by everyone; residents and staff alike, which makes for a lovely, happy atmosphere.

food was good. Mom enjoyed taking part in the activities, which really helped to make her stay even more enjoyable. We can heartily recommend Hammerwich Hall Care Home and Mom is already booked in for her next stay.

My sister has been a resident here for 6 weeks. I've found the staff to be very kind and friendly.
I think the only problem she's experienced is being kept waiting when needing the toilet. Mainly due to a shortage of staff.
Would recommend this home to anyone who asks.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.658)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.658) out of 10 for Hammerwich Hall Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 27 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.658 for Hammerwich Hall Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (217 Excellents x 5) + (90 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 316 Ratings = 4.658
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Hammerwich Hall Care Home is based on 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 39 registered maximum number of service users is 7.8, which has been reached with 27 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
