My sister and I fell in love with Burrswood when we visited before my mum arrived. There was a warm homely feeling. The staff are lovely, the residents are all friendly. The food is fabulous and mum is eating a lot more. She seems settled and happier. They are on the ball when health problems arise.
I would recommend this care home to others.

I wanted to say how fabulous the whole team are on Crompton unit , my brother resides there and has been physically poorly and hospitalised for almost 4 weeks, on returning they couldn't have been more welcoming, in his words " I felt like a celebrity on returning" the care they give is second
to none and always with a smile , nothing is ever too much trouble, they kept in touch at all times
So THANK YOU for all your hard work , it doesn't go unnoticed
Reply from Jennifer Masbate, Home Manager at Burrswood Care HomeWe are very proud of the compassion and dedication of the staff in Crompton. I am pleased that they didn't fail in ensuring you and your brother felt supported while he was in the hospital. They've always tried to outdo themselves by providing that sense of belonging and warmth is exactly what we strive for every day. I will be sure to share your praise with everyone on the unit-it means the world to them. Thank you for recognizing their hard work.

My mother has only been in Burrswood for four weeks. The staff are friendly and respectful. As soon as my mum arrived the home arranged a district nurse to see her we are always kept uptodate with my mums progress. As a family we feel we can approach the staff and discuss mums needs and we feel this
is taken notice of.

It is so comforting that my sister is now in this very special place. Previous carehomes were not up to any reasonable standard. So much so that I had come to think that their standard of care was the norm. Burrswood has definitely changed my opinion. Congratulations to all involved.

We cannot fault the care shown by the staff at Burrswood. My husband was in Kay Unit and was suffering from mixed dementia. The staff were lovely and caring. There was a friendly atmosphere on the unit and the staff couldn't be more helpful.
My husband enjoyed the food very much and care was always
taken to make sure the residents had plenty of drinks.
The rooms and common areas were cleaned regularly. His clothes were always washed, ironed and returned quickly.
We could visit whenever we wished and offered tea or coffee or we could use the kitchen.
During his final days the nursing care was excellent and the staff couldn't do enough for him and for us.
It was so nice that members of staff attended his funeral.
I would recommend Burswood to anyone needing residential for care for a loved one.

My husband was in the care of the staff at Burrswood,, I cannot praise highly enough the care and attention he received it was second to none,
He was diagnosed with lung cancer and given a short time to live,,the staff made his last few months so comfortable, talking to him, comforting him they called
in to chat to him often,,this made my torment bearable knowing he was in good hands,The staff were friendly ,always a smile when i came to visit and i was always made welcome,,I was kept updated regularly on the changes of medication and his condition as it deteriorated over the 3 months he resided at Burrswood,,
I will always be grateful to the Staff,,Thank you for your devotion to the work you do caring for those in need at the end of their lives,,THANK YOU

The care given to my mum by the team on the Crompton unit is exceptional. My mum has advanced mixed dementia and quickly went from living at home with my dad to hospital and then Crompton. We couldn't have asked for a nicer team and with the added support from management who embraced our family, especially
my dad who challenged everything at the beginning because, after fifty-five years marriage, he knows my mum best. We now feel part of the Crompton team and although hard to accept we can't care for Mum at home, we couldn't ask for a better place than Burrswood Care Home.

Burswood Care Home made the last three difficult months for my mother the best we could have hoped for. All the staff were helpful, caring and empathetic. A big shout out to seeing them at Mum's funeral yesterday, it was a very touching tribute from them. A special mention to a member of staff, in particular,
who was always on hand to sort potential issues, keep doing what you were born to do! Caring for the most vulnerable who need dignity in their final years.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.716)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.716) out of 10 for Burrswood Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 26 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 26 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.716 for Burrswood Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (227 Excellents x 5) + (72 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 306 Ratings = 4.716
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Burrswood Care Home is based on 26 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 125 registered maximum number of service users is 25, which has been reached with 26 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
