Burrswood Care Home

Very happy with care given to mum. When she moved to Burrswood she had 3 ulcers (2 leg, 1 back), thanks to the nursing care, both leg ulcers are healed and the back ulcer is almost healed. We are very happy with overall care and mum is glad to live at Burrswood. All staff are pleasant and caring at all times.

Visiting my older brother I found him much happier since he moved into Burrswood. He smiled and asked and answered questions, something he has not done for many months previously. The staff are very friendly and accommodating involved with the other residents. It really is a pleasure to visit. Thank you.

My husband stayed at Burrswood Care Home for one week, he found the staff very helpful and friendly, the food was to a high standard. I was happy to leave my husband then felt he was in safe hands.

Burrswood House have been looking after my father since 31st October 2015. Dad has dementia but the staff have done a very good job looking after him. Dad is unsteady on his feet and has a tendency to wander around. This leads to him having regular falls unfortunately we have reached a stage where the home cannot look after dad much longer, as he needs one to tone care. Dad will be moving in the new year, through no fault of the home. I am particularly grateful to the staff.

The staff are very attentive to mum's needs and recognise when these change. The food is excellent and she has regained much of the weight she had lost in the last few months of living at home - my thanks go to the chefs for providing such good and varied nutritious meals. I know that mum always leaves an empty plate.

Mu husband is very happy here, his only reservation is the food. I understand that there is a new chef starting soon so will see what that brings.

Whilst the updating of the home has improved the whole outlook inside Burrswood. The caring staff work very hard, but take the time to encourage participation to do anything of interest themselves. Some activities are repeated and much more could be done, things to make and games however simple would be a great help, talks on local history and much more about their own past to.

Since entering Burrswood House Nursing Home on the 8th of August 2014 for palliative care, I have made a tremendous recovery. I am back to my former self, mainly due to the staff and facilities at Burrswood House. I cannot speak too highly, I am very happy here - sadly I am now self full funding, this is a "thorn in my side" being totally unfair.

Dad moved to Burrswood in October 2014, after it was decided that it was impossible to set up the care he need 24/7 at home, sadly. He remained there, during multiple health problems, until he sadly passed away a few weeks ago. It was hard for us, his son and daughter to accept the necessity of a care home, but the girls on the Dunster Unit, along with the nurses in charge made it feel as cosy as possible. Their care and affection for dad was evident and the atmosphere was full of care, and a sense of fun with the clients and families. The warmth and love we experienced from everyone at dads passing was special and we will always be grateful to them.

I have been at Burrswood for many years and the staff are very friendly and provide alternative foods to suit my taste.
