My mother has been very well cared for by the lovely staff at Burrswood, despite some quite challenging moments, I have seen lots of care and affection from the staff towards her, and she is becoming more and more settled there. Her room is lovely, very clean and personal belongings/pictures/furnishings
are welcomed. Staff seem knowledgeable, patient and caring. Visitors are made welcome at all times.
Reply from Paul Millar, Sales Manager at Burrswood Care HomeMany thanks for taking the time to review our home. It is our pleasure to care for your Mum. I will, of course, pass on your kind comments to the Burrswood team.

My Dad stayed at Burrswood for six weeks respite care during October/November 2019 during a difficult time as my Mum, his primary carer, was in hospital and recovering from a major operation. The service from Burrswood staff was outstanding, from start to finish, from initial enquiry, booking, pre-assessment
and throughout his stay. All of the staff we encountered were extremely professional and as importantly, very, very kind and compassionate. The level of care was outstanding. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Burrswood Care Home and we are very grateful to all of the staff for their care.

I viewed a number of care homes before selecting Burrswood Care home. So glad this home was the one. From my first visit on, caring staff who go above and beyond. Clean, friendly happy home from home. My husband is happier and more content. He is well cared for and I was encouraged to personalise his
room which is spacious, clean and well furnished. My mind is at ease knowing he is happy.

I find all the staff, including domestic staff, handymen, laundry staff etc to be friendly, kind and helpful at all times. There is a lovely atmosphere about the place. My husband is well cared for and shown kindness and dignity in difficult circumstances.
The food is of a high standard and he always
enjoys it, desserts especially. This is the second care home he has been in and I wouldn't want him to be anywhere else.

My dad is very happy at Burrswood. He likes all the staff (who show everyone kindness and care). Lovely and clean, dad's bedroom always clean, bins empty, toilet, washbasin always clean.
My experience of staff are dedicated, hardworking and caring. I could not wish for my dad to be in a better environment.
Excellent
value for money. My dad pays half towards his care bill. Which I am happy with.
Reply from Paco Pakowski, Home Manager at Burrswood Care HomeThank you so much for your wonderful review of our home and the care that your dad receives from us. I will be very happy to pass your comments back to my team who I agree are a dedicated group of professionals. Many thanks.

This is the most excellent nursing home. We looked at a few care homes for our Mum before coming to Burrswood House and none compared to them. Everyone looks after Mum so well and we never have to worry about a single thing. The staff are wonderful. They are always on hand if you need anything. The
Manager at Burrswood is second to none, it's a pity that he is interim. He is completely dedicated to not just Burrswood but also his residents. He is often seen taking the time to chat and even feed the residents when he can. He is the utmost professional. He always takes time with us if we have any questions and you just feel that Mum is in safe hands. Not only do the whole team look after Mum they look after us too. I can’t thank the whole team enough.
Reply from Paco, Interim Home Manager at Burrswood Care HomeThank you very much for your lovely review of our home and the excellent care provided by my team. It is lovely to hear that you value the care we provide to your mum and that you are reassured she is in safe hands.
I will look forward to passing your kind comments across to my team.

I had recently a meeting at Burrswood Care home to discuss the further care of a friend of mine. I am really impressed with the knowledge and approach of the gentleman who led the meeting. My friend who is also a resident of Burrswood lacks capacity and can not talk or decide for himself. I felt reassured
and happier after the meeting, as I know he is in good hands.

My mother has dementia and we arrived at Burrswood House and were more than impressed with the building and all its surroundings.
Inside was immaculately clean and on meeting some of the staff, we knew we had chosen the right place. All the team are excellent, caring people. We now have peace of mind
knowing mum is so well cared for, settled and happy.

I was given a list of care homes for my husband to go for repsite. I looked at one and they said they could not take him, so I thought I would try this one. I was bet by a smiling carer who showed me around a unit and then around another unit which had a nice room overlooking a garden. They interviewed
him and accepted him. The home is well staffed with caring [eople who treat people with dignity and everyone is clean and tidy. Laundry is done every day.
I cannot praise it highly enough.

My Father has been a resident at Burrswood since July 2017, during which time he has received excellent care in a first-class establishment with the highest delivery of standards within all aspects. As his health has deteriorated, particularly during this past month, his condition has presented numerous
challenges and extreme difficulties, all of which have been overcome and dealt with by the wonderful staff on Peel Unit whilst ensuring comfort and dignity at all times. They are indeed a highly professional and dedicated team and, as a family, we could not ask for or expect anything better for our beloved Dad. Thank you to all - you are very much appreciated and loved!

My mum was in the home for only five months this year and sadly passed away in October from a dementia-related illness. She was so well cared for and the staff made us feel like we were part of the family (we did go every day!). I can't fault any of the staff, from the cleaner to the carers, the chefs,
the hostesses and the nursing staff. The admin staff were also always so chatty and welcoming and sometimes that's just what you need when you're having a bad day.

I felt that my mum was loved and cared for with the respect I so wanted her to have, as being in a nursing home was the last place she would have ever wanted to be in her life. Her room was bright and airy, the food delicious and the afternoon tea cakes always a treat.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the home to people (I already have) to entrust their loved ones with such fabulous caring staff. Thank you all for making a really difficult time in our lives so much more bearable and smooth. Keep up the fabulous work.

Reply from Jayne Duck, Customer services administrator at Burrswood Care HomeSo sorry to hear of your loss, please accept our condolences. Staff are very friendly, even staff not on my dads ward. Very clean and tidy inside and out.
New lift just installed, quite inconvenient as my dad has been very limited mobility even to use the stair lift. Inconvenient but necessary, so it was cope-able.
New lift very good. Really don't have a bad
word to say. If I had to be in a care home in my later years. I would definitely choose Burrswood.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.726)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.726) out of 10 for Burrswood Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 27 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.726 for Burrswood Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (239 Excellents x 5) + (72 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 318 Ratings = 4.726
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Burrswood Care Home is based on 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 125 registered maximum number of service users is 25, which has been reached with 27 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

"Having more than a decade worth of diverse experience as a Registered Nurse across various healthcare settings, I have gained knowledge, skills, and other attributes to help me hone my leadership skills.

I have started my career in the UK when I migrated from the Philippines at the onset of the pandemic. During this unprecedented time, I strived to deliver compassionate care to all of our residents, even extending it to their relatives and especially to my colleagues who gave love and support to everyone in need. I have worked my way up in this industry, starting from being a Staff Nurse then to become a Unit Manager, Clinical Lead, Deputy Manager, and finally becoming a Care Home Manager. I am a Transformative Leader who is not afraid of hands-on and direct care and work with my colleagues to ensure that our residents at Burrswood Care Home will have the best quality of life possible.”
