Overall Experience

My mum went into the care home for 3 months respite care following a very serious fall. She was helped to settle in quickly and was made welcome by a fabulous team who were warm and thoughtful, from the 'seniors' to the care staff, caterers, cleaners, managers and activities coordinator. Everyone worked together to create a strong sense of family and support and mum was quickly known by name. Nothing was too much trouble. The daily activities ensured that she felt at home and part of the whole community. Visiting family members were encouraged to join in and frequently commented on the positive, happy atmosphere. The food was varied and of high quality, facilities were good, standards of cleanliness were high and mum's medical needs were well met. She felt safe. Her experience left her well recovered and ready to go back to more independence. It's exactly what she needed. We recommend this care home without hesitation.

Bishop's Cleeve Care Home is a clean and welcoming nursing that has taken care of my mother for the last eighteen months. The nursing staff, carers and catering staff all make a special effort to make mum feel welcome. Mum has developed a special friendship with the head of catering who helps her keep up her baking hobby.

The home is very well run, clean and tidy. The residents including my relation are all cared for extremely well.

The food looks varied and well presented. There are lots of amenities and afternoon entertainment, which are also very varied. I am very pleased we chose this care home and would recommend it. The staff are all very caring and do all they can to make sure the residents are fully cared for.

The staff at the home have been excellent, unfortunately I feel that they are let down. The lift for residents & visitors has been out of action for months. Effectively trapping the residents that are on the first floor upstairs. The service lift has been offered but this always requires finding a member of staff & taking them away from their duties. Despite chasing this up with Tony, whose responses are unprofessional & flippant the lift remains out of use.

My mother has really enjoyed baking with the chef, she likes to feel needed and has most definately felt that way.

I do feel that the meals for vegetarians leaves a lot to be desired and could do with a major change, as at the moment vegetarian options are tasteless, and doesn't in any way look appetising at all.

Reply from Paul Lawson, National Sales Manager at Bishop's Cleeve Care Home

Thank-you so much for your feedback which is vital to us as we strive to maintain the very best standards throughout. We will raise the vegetarian options with our hospitality manager and speak with your mother to offer some different choices that more suit her tastes. W are thrilled that your mum has enjoyed baking with chef so much. Best wishes.

As a respite care user, I notice the carers were always busy and did their variety of jobs well. The meals were very good and second helpings always available. I found the accommodation comfortable and modern. Unfortunately the entertainment and activities let them down. More could have been held, giving active stimulation to those who attended.
