Mum spent an assessment period of 4 weeks in this care home before confirmation of a permanent placement. We found this care home to be welcoming, cozy and friendly, with staff very experienced and knowledgeable in caring for a loved one with progressing dementia from the manager down to all other staff.
Staff are always visible and interacting with residents. We have been kept updated and involved in decision making with mum's best interests at the centre of everything. A weight has been lifted from our shoulders knowing that our mum's needs are being met fully. Thank you.
Reply from Claribel Durairaj, Home Manager at Craigbank Care HomeThank you for the lovely comments and you can be assured that good standard care will continue for your mum .

We cannot thank everyone at Craigbank Nursing Home enough for the care, compassion, and dignity they showed our Aunt during her final weeks.
Although her stay was only three weeks, the kindness and professionalism of the entire team made the transition into care much easier for both her and our family.
She was treated with dignity and respect at all times, and it was clear she was receiving high quality person centred care.
Staff were always approachable, understanding, reassuring and most importantly, truly cared about the well-being and happiness of all the residents.
We take great comfort in knowing her final days were spent in a peaceful and caring environment being cared for by exceptional care staff.
Thank you to the whole team, especially the depute manager, who took the time to show us around the care home last thing on a Friday without us having booked an appointment.
Thank you to everyone for giving our Aunt dignity, comfort and kindness when it mattered most.

My husband has been a resident since July 2020. The staff are very good in caring for him. They keep me updated and include me in his needs and any concerns as per his care plan.
I am involved in his care plan and any decisions in his day to day living. Although my husbands's condition is that he
can no longer communicate or make decisions, I am confident that all aspects of his care are being met.

My wife has been a resident in Craigbank for 3 years, having previously been in another care facility. She moved to Craigbank because her illness is advanced and she requires a lot of care. Throughout her time in Craigbank, I have been very pleased and satisfied with the care and attention to her has
been of a high standard. I can see that she is always dealt with in a friendly manner with respect and dignity. Although communication is difficult I can see that my wife trusts her carers and responds well to them. All the staff are caring and patient with the needs of the residents. I have total trust in all of them. I have always been told of any issues r.e. health etc, timings.
I honestly cannot believe that my wife would receive with care anywhere else. A big thank you to all staff.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.668)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.668) out of 10 for Craigbank Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 23 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.668 for Craigbank Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (194 Excellents x 5) + (69 Goods x 4) + (11 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 274 Ratings = 4.668
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Craigbank Care Home is based on 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 61 registered maximum number of service users is 12.2, which has been reached with 23 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
