I came to visit my brother in law on Sunday afternoon with my husband when we arrived Alan had deteriorated weight loss and his appearance he looked like he hadn't had a shower or hair cut we were so shocked no staff in the main lounge the smell was horrible we spent a hour with him sat at a dirty table
with other residents sleeping or asking for help nothing for them to do to warm staff that did come in on there phones this place needs a good clean. I witnessed a resident that had wet herself two staff member took her to get changed all of 10 minutes sat her back in the wet chair didn't even clean the chair . One resident saying she was to warm couldn't breath bless her not one time did they think to take off thick jumper or sit her by a window no gave her a inhaler when clearly she needed air cooling down staff not knowing how to deal with situations shocking for us to witness.

My mum was in Beech house for two years before she passed away in March and I can honestly say that she was settled, happy and felt safe there from the first day she moved in.
Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, not just for mum but for the family as well. They kept us updated and always welcomed
us with a smile.
The kindness and compassion they showed mum in her final days can never be repaid. I will never forget what you did for mum and will be forever grateful for the care, sensitivity and comfort you provided to me on her passing.
Thank you to all the staff of Beech House for everything you did, not just for mum, but for me and the rest of the family
Reply from Joanne Fishwick, Home Manager at Bedford Care HomeDear Sharon,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a heartfelt review about your mum's time at Beech House.

We are deeply honoured that you trusted us to care for your mum over the last two years of her life, and it means a great deal to know that she felt happy, settled and safe with us from the very beginning. Creating a warm and supportive home for both our residents and their families is at the heart of everything we do.

Your kind words about our team's care, compassion and support - especially during your mum's final days - will truly touch every member of staff. We know how difficult that time was, and we are grateful we could provide comfort and reassurance to both your mum and your family.

Thank you again for your lovely feedback and for allowing us to be part of your mum's journey. Your appreciation means more to us than words can say, and we will always remember your mum fondly.

With sincere condolences and warmest wishes,
Joanne

Very poor experience of CROFT unit.
Staff lackadaisical.Care poor.
Mum transferred from hospital for 6wk assessment but little done.
Home care was inadequate and poor.
Mum was found on floor shortly after being transferred to chair on
Mum often not fit to be in a chair.
The chair was not
suitable for mum and a pillow was used down 1 side to supposedly correct postural lean due to dementia.
OT needed to assess for her needs.
Mum sustained a fractured femur from the fall .Paramedics arrived about 1and a half hrs later .Mum remained conscious throughout.
.However, Mum suffered a type 1 heart attack and type 2 respiratory failure as a result of the stress of the fall at 90yrs of age and her underlying health conditions. She was conscious but unresponsive by the time she arrived at hospital .
Nothing further could be done and num was put on end of life care.
She died 3wks later.
Appropiate monitoring, assessments and care needs were not met .
I do not recommend CROFT !

My sister and I fell in love with Burrswood when we visited before my mum arrived. There was a warm homely feeling. The staff are lovely, the residents are all friendly. The food is fabulous and mum is eating a lot more. She seems settled and happier. They are on the ball when health problems arise.
I would recommend this care home to others.

I wanted to say how fabulous the whole team are on Crompton unit , my brother resides there and has been physically poorly and hospitalised for almost 4 weeks, on returning they couldn't have been more welcoming, in his words " I felt like a celebrity on returning" the care they give is second
to none and always with a smile , nothing is ever too much trouble, they kept in touch at all times
So THANK YOU for all your hard work , it doesn't go unnoticed
Reply from Jennifer Masbate, Home Manager at Burrswood Care HomeWe are very proud of the compassion and dedication of the staff in Crompton. I am pleased that they didn't fail in ensuring you and your brother felt supported while he was in the hospital. They've always tried to outdo themselves by providing that sense of belonging and warmth is exactly what we strive for every day. I will be sure to share your praise with everyone on the unit-it means the world to them. Thank you for recognizing their hard work.

Liz has been in Lilford since late December. Her first night in another unit I found the staff spent more time on their mobile phones than engaging with the residents. In Lilford the staff are first class always mixing, talking and helping the residents. My only concern is that the residents seem to
share clothes as Liz's have been missing on a number of times for several days.
I am more than happy that Liz is settled gets on well with the staff and other residents. If asked I would recommend Lilford to anyone
Reply from Paul Lawson, Head of Sales and Marketing at Bedford Care HomeThank-you so much for your lovely review. We are delighted that Liz is so settled and content and grateful that you have taken the time to share your positive experience. We do like to inform families that the hand-held devices staff use are PCS tools which record resident's daily interactions, food and fluid intake, routines etc. They resemble mobile phones which can cause confusion but if you ask the staff they will share with you how they work. Unfortunately when residents are living with dementia clothing items do get misplaced or picked up by mistake, we like to think that they will make their way back to their owners and for that reason recommend expensive jewellery or accessories are not brought into the home as they are precious and sentimental and should be kept somewhere safe. However if there are any specific items that have gone missing please let us know and we will do our utmost to retrieve them. Best wishes.

My dad is well looked after. I feel like there is a better presence in Lilford house and my Dad is more looked after. I've noticed he's a lot cleaner here and the carers are more passionate. He's been a bit happier but still with the odd days feeling down. Carers seem to be less in the office here and
more out being proactive. We appreciate the care and passion within Lilford and it means a lot to all of us.

Visited my mum, whilst there, the man who does the activities was there. He asked if anyone wanted and instrament as it was music time. He sang songs to which residents all joined in, which was good to see, my mum remembering the words to the songs. The man doing the activities was really good with
the residents, he was caring, encouraging and respectful to which they responded.

Whilst I would not fill a review in as I am either to critical or to soft, from what I have seen the staff are firm but friendly with patients. Their is as with anywhere these a shortage of staff, and my pet hate is how long it takes staff to answer the door when visiting.
Reply from Joanne Fishwick, Home Manager at Bedford Care HomeThank you for taking the time to share your honest feedback with us - we really appreciate you doing so. It's lovely to hear that you've found our staff to be both firm and friendly in their approach, as maintaining kindness alongside good care standards is very important to us.
We also acknowledge your comments regarding staffing levels and the wait time when arriving to visit. We understand how frustrating this can be and are continually working to improve responsiveness while ensuring residents remain safe and well cared for. Your feedback helps us identify where we can do better, and we will certainly take it on board.
