Overall Experience

Our close friend was resident in Beech House for several weeks. He was placed there due to being discharged from hospital. There was aways a pleasant and friendly atmosphere with exceptional care from all the staff. They were always caring and helpful and his physical and medical needs were very well tended. Nothing was ever too much trouble. His family and friends were warmly greeted and well treated when visiting him, sometimes two sets of visitors each day. We would like to thank everyone for their kindness and dedication at a difficult time.

Mum was placed here after discharge from hospital. The purpose was to improve her mobility. She was treated with dignity and from day one was encouraged to exercise. The addition of physio made a massive improvement. Her confidence increased and made it possible to return home, I cannot praise the team in Kenyon House and the physio enough for their hard work.

Reply from Joanne Fishwick, Home Manager at Bedford Care Home

Thank you so much for your lovely review. We are delighted to hear that your mum's confidence and mobility improved, allowing her to return home. Your kind words will mean so much to the team at Kenyon House and our physiotherapist. We wish your mum all the very best for the future!

My mum was discharged from Wigan Infirmary to Bedford House for respite care and stayed there for 2 weeks. We found Bedford House very welcoming, comfortable and with good quality meals served regularly. The staff were superb - very friendly and attended to my mum's needs with great professionalism. My mum didn't want to be there but she realised it was the best place for her. Thank you all the staff for your care and attention.

The security measures in place are excellent, ensuring that only authorised individuals can enter or leave the premises. Inside the home, the environment is bright, colourful, and uplifting, creating a welcoming atmosphere for both residents and visitors.
Staff consistently demonstrate professionalism and treat every resident with respect, ensuring dignity is always upheld. Their warm and friendly manner fosters a genuinely caring environment that is reassuring for families and comforting for residents.
A wide range of entertainment and activities is provided regularly, contributing positively to residents' wellbeing. The bedrooms are clean, tidy, and offer a peaceful space for rest and privacy.

I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Bedford Care Home with special appreciation given to the teams associated with my mothers care Kenyon, Astley & Croft House. Your continued dedication is truly appreciated. Keep up the excellent work

Lilford is an excellent home. The rooms are nice and the lounge has recently been decorated. Outside the garden is nice but could do with some shade.

The staff are first class. A care home always has a smell so some air fresheners would be welcome.

My mum was in Beech house for two years before she passed away in March and I can honestly say that she was settled, happy and felt safe there from the first day she moved in.
Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, not just for mum but for the family as well. They kept us updated and always welcomed us with a smile.
The kindness and compassion they showed mum in her final days can never be repaid. I will never forget what you did for mum and will be forever grateful for the care, sensitivity and comfort you provided to me on her passing.

Thank you to all the staff of Beech House for everything you did, not just for mum, but for me and the rest of the family

Overall Experience
Very poor experience of CROFT unit.
Staff lackadaisical.Care poor.
Mum transferred from hospital for 6wk assessment but little done.
Home care was inadequate and poor.
Mum was found on floor shortly after being transferred to chair on
Mum often not fit to be in a chair.
The chair was not suitable for mum and a pillow was used down 1 side to supposedly correct postural lean due to dementia.
OT needed to assess for her needs.
Mum sustained a fractured femur from the fall .Paramedics arrived about 1and a half hrs later .Mum remained conscious throughout.
.However, Mum suffered a type 1 heart attack and type 2 respiratory failure as a result of the stress of the fall at 90yrs of age and her underlying health conditions. She was conscious but unresponsive by the time she arrived at hospital .
Nothing further could be done and num was put on end of life care.
She died 3wks later.
Appropiate monitoring, assessments and care needs were not met .

I do not recommend CROFT !

My dad is well looked after. I feel like there is a better presence in Lilford house and my Dad is more looked after. I've noticed he's a lot cleaner here and the carers are more passionate. He's been a bit happier but still with the odd days feeling down. Carers seem to be less in the office here and more out being proactive. We appreciate the care and passion within Lilford and it means a lot to all of us.

Visited my mum, whilst there, the man who does the activities was there. He asked if anyone wanted and instrament as it was music time. He sang songs to which residents all joined in, which was good to see, my mum remembering the words to the songs. The man doing the activities was really good with the residents, he was caring, encouraging and respectful to which they responded.

I am very happy with the care that my husband has received so far from the nurses and care staff at Bedford (Beech House). His health and physical needs are always tended to and the doctor called recently and blood tests etc have done.

The room is always clean and tidy and his clothes always washed and hanging in his wardrobe. All in all an excellent nursing home that is very suitable for my husbands needs!

Joanne FishwickJob Title Home Manager

I started at Bedford Care Home as a Care assistant in 2005. I loved working here at the Nursing Dementia house I was at then, Since this I have progressed in my career through various roles at Bedford. I have been a Nursing Assistant, Unit Manager, Head of Care and Deputy Manager and I am very proud to now be the registered Manager.

I have always had a passion for Caring since leaving school and the Dream was to become a Nurse, But I took a different route as I had children early on.

My Goal is to make Bedford have a warm and welcoming feel to ensure residents/families, staff and visitors all feel at home. Everyone at Bedford is like Family.
