Norwood offers dementia care in one house and care and support to the frail and elderly in another. Both houses provide care for people with Parkinson’s disease, Huntington's disease and to those who are looking for palliative care.

The focus is on individualised care for people in a homely and welcoming setting, situated in the historical town of Barrhead near Glasgow. Partners or siblings can stay in some of the home’s larger bedrooms, and many rooms have en-suite facilities.

At mealtimes residents enjoy both hot and cold options to choose from, as well as a popular Night Bite menu that is available from 6.30pm to 6.30am.

Arts and crafts, quizzes and karaoke are all regular activities enjoyed by residents. Norwood has a dedicated activity co-ordinator who works hard to ensure residents of all abilities can participate in daily activities to keep active and stimulated.

We visit every Friday to take our friend out and the staff are always very friendly to us. Trying to get in and out if no one is in the office is so frustrating.

I'm very grateful to Norwood Nursing Home for providing an outstanding level of care for my mum, Gillian. Very special thanks to all staff for their professionalism and expertise in looking after my mum (who's 91 and has Alzheimer's / vascular dementia) during her respite stay in July 2025 following
a fall at her home, which resulted in a broken wrist. Norwood was head and shoulders above all other care homes that we've used in the past - all staff were friendly, capable and professional. Communication was excellent throughout. I would have no hesitation in recommending Norwood, this is the most professional and inclusive care home we've experienced and certainly sets the standards for others to attain.

My Dad recently entered Norwood for respite care. The staff are amazing and he settled straight away. He has late stage Alzheimer's and other health concerns and he is like a younger fit man again, relishing all the interactions and connections he's making. I can't praise Norwood enough. We are so lucky
that our father is being cared for so very well. Thankyou Norwood

My husband has been in Norwood for some months now and I am extremely happy with the care he is receiving. All the staff, management, carers, nurses, housekeepers, kitchen and maintenance staff, provide a level of care which goes beyond their remits. He is treated with dignity and compassion and his
health is well looked after. If I have any concerns about him the manager and carers are happy to talk them through with me. He is encouraged to take part in daily activities and I have the opportunity to join him for monthly lunches in the Bee Kind cafe and at regular entertainment.
I have peace of mind knowing he is being well cared for and am so glad I listened to the friends who told me about Norwood. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a care home for their loved ones.

My dad, who had Alzheimer's was in Norwood for just over a year and was very well looked after. The staff were always cheerful and helpful, and I knew that my dad was being well cared for as the staff seemed to know him well. When my dad was receiving end of life care, everyone treated him with respect
and dignity and as a family we were very touched by the compassion and kindness we were shown when he passed away. A huge thank you to everyone!

My Mum has been in Norwood now for a few months, we moved her from another care home where she had been for a few weeks which wasn't suitable, this has definitely been the best move for my Mum. The staff at this care home are the best, the care and attention they give to my Mum is fabulous, her mind
is kept active with daily activities and they also have entertainment that come to the home some weekends and afternoon tea for the residents and their families. I love the social media posts (you can opt out of this) this brightens my day when I see what my Mum has been doing that day as I can't manage to visit every day. My Mum is treated with dignity and I cannot fault the care she has been given by the fabulous staff!

I was very worried about my mum and dad going into a care home as they both have Alzheimer's, and I knew it would be a whole new, different lifestyle for them. I needn't have worried, the staff and care they have received has been great, and although my mum is taking time to settle, the staff have been
great with her. I can have peace of mind that they are well looked after with care and compassion.

Norwood family are very caring and helpful. The cleanliness could be a bit better. The housekeeper did my mum's room today and what an excellent job she did. It's the best its been since my mum arrived. Came to the Bee Kind cafe and what an excellent job two staff members in particular done was absolutely
lovely.

We recently had to make the very difficult decision to move my mother into a care home. After carefully reviewing several local options, we chose Norwood and we're so glad we did.
From the moment my mum arrived, the staff have been nothing but caring, compassionate, and attentive. The support they've
shown not only to her but also to my father throughout this emotional transition has been truly outstanding.
Living in England, I can't be there every day, but I feel completely reassured knowing my mother is in such safe and capable hands. Norwood has brought peace of mind to our entire family during what could have been a much more stressful time.

My gran stayed here and loved it so when I visited I wanted to know what it was that was so good as she had always been set against going into a care home environment.
The staff were exceptional with her and made me feel welcome when I visited. You could clearly see the bond that had formed with Gran
and the staff and vice versa, the level of care and attention she got was exceptional and something the family would never have been able to cope with in her old house. The key seemed to be that despite being busy they appeared to make her feel like the only person in the building. It was lovely to watch!
Her room was clean and fresh and the bedding was changed regularly. All her personal items were treated with great care too. The room was also nice and warm which Gran loved as she did tend to feel the cold.
She spoke often of the activities that she was asked to take part in and seemed to have formed new friends through this.

I recently visited Norwood Care Home to see my grandmother, and I was deeply impressed by the exceptional care and welcoming environment. From the moment I entered, the staff were warm and attentive, going out of their way to make both residents and visitors feel at ease. The facility was spotlessly
clean, well-organized, and had a cozy, homely feel, which brings a lot of comfort to my grandmother.

The caregivers clearly know each resident personally and provide a level of care that's both professional and compassionate. My grandmother seems so happy and well-looked-after here, it was clear she's in great hands. Seeing her so content and thriving reassured me that Norwood is the perfect place for her. Highly recommend Norwood Care Home for anyone looking for a supportive, caring environment for their loved ones.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.738)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.738) out of 10 for Norwood Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 33 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 31 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.738 for Norwood Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (301 Excellents x 5) + (68 Goods x 4) + (15 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 385 Ratings = 4.738
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Norwood Care Home is based on 31 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 54 registered maximum number of service users is 10.8, which has been reached with 31 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
