Norwood offers dementia care in one house and care and support to the frail and elderly in another. Both houses provide care for people with Parkinson’s disease, Huntington's disease and to those who are looking for palliative care.

The focus is on individualised care for people in a homely and welcoming setting, situated in the historical town of Barrhead near Glasgow. Partners or siblings can stay in some of the home’s larger bedrooms, and many rooms have en-suite facilities.

At mealtimes residents enjoy both hot and cold options to choose from, as well as a popular Night Bite menu that is available from 6.30pm to 6.30am.

Arts and crafts, quizzes and karaoke are all regular activities enjoyed by residents. Norwood has a dedicated activity co-ordinator who works hard to ensure residents of all abilities can participate in daily activities to keep active and stimulated.

My mum is a resident at Norwood Care Home and is approaching her 4th year in residence. My mother has all her needs met as she continues her journey with her condition. I have found the staff to be more than helpful in all aspects of my mums care, health and wellbeing.
The care and support has been
excellent and my mum is treated with dignity at all times. This is a safe environment which ultimately, my mum calls home.

I am very satisfied with all aspects of care given to my mother at the home. The level of care is very good and any issues that are raised by me are quickly dealt with to a satisfactory conclusion.


The home has a good team of staff who are extremely dedicated to making sure my mother and all the

residents are made to feel like it is their home. Sometimes problems arise but the management team are always avaliable to discuss and resolve the problem.

My mother who has dementia has been in this care home for over 2 years. She is extremely well looked after. The staff are excellent. They really do seem to care and nothing we ask of them is a problem. My sister and I feel very happy and fortunate that mum is looked after here. We are always offered
a cup of tea when it comes around and are kept fully informed about mum's health/care.

Mum has been in Norwood Care Home for over 2 years and has had the most loving care and attention. I visit mum most days and as a consequence, I know most of the care staff and have built up a lovely relationship with them. They all treat my mum with respect and dignity. There are good events and the
entertainment is excellent, they ooze enthusiasm and the receptionist is very cheerful. All in all excellent service.

Mum came into Norwood House after being in hospital after two bouts of pneumonia. She was frail with poor appetite. I was on holiday for a week. On my return mum was so much improved, she was eating well and felt the food was very good. Her mobility was better, her spirits were higher. She looked so
much better and commented that her stay was very pleasant and the staff were excellent and couldn't do enough to help her and encourage her to be independent.

My wife suffers from Alzheimer's and has been in Norwood House, Victoria Road, Barrhead since 19th December 2014. She had been quite difficult to live with at home with mood changes and irrational requests. Upon admission to Norwood she quickly adapted to calm frame of mind and totally accepted the
regime. I have visited her quite often but have so far heard no complaints. I also have witnessed her relationship with many members of staff and appreciate their caring approach whatever demand she has made.

My mother is a full time resident at this care home. During her stay she has been very well cared for, food, staff, cleaning and activities are all excellent!!!
Today I visited her and speak to her key worker (nurse). I mentioned that it was coming up to my mothers birthday, and that I would bring
in a cake, candles etc. only to be informed by the nurse that the chef at the care home bakes a care for each resident on their birthday, and the staff and other residents all have a little party to celebrate. How nice is that!! Need I say more?

Residents accommodation is clean and warm. Adequate furnishing, basic for needs. Staff are friendly and caring, informative about residents daily living activities and diet intake. Trained staff will inform of any incident or mishaps by telephone if necessary.
