Norwood offers dementia care in one house and care and support to the frail and elderly in another. Both houses provide care for people with Parkinson’s disease, Huntington's disease and to those who are looking for palliative care.

The focus is on individualised care for people in a homely and welcoming setting, situated in the historical town of Barrhead near Glasgow. Partners or siblings can stay in some of the home’s larger bedrooms, and many rooms have en-suite facilities.

At mealtimes residents enjoy both hot and cold options to choose from, as well as a popular Night Bite menu that is available from 6.30pm to 6.30am.

Arts and crafts, quizzes and karaoke are all regular activities enjoyed by residents. Norwood has a dedicated activity co-ordinator who works hard to ensure residents of all abilities can participate in daily activities to keep active and stimulated.

Mum always looks happy and presentable. She is always offered choice in all aspects of her life. The staff are friendly and cannot do enough for Mum or family when we visit.

Well done Norwood team, when family come to visit, there is always a lovely, warm atmosphere.
One nurse takes great care of Mum, keeping her well.
Staff are always courteous and friendly, and all go out at special and seasonal events.
Kitchen staff always provide nutritious and delicious meals
and buffets.
Lots of fun activities are always on offer to keep both residents and families entertained.

My sister is in Norwood Care Home following a setback I, together with my wife and daughter visited her last Saturday. I found the carers excellent in their treatment of and attention to my sister, as did my wife and daughter. They treated us like friends and their attention to her was exemplary. As
I live in Southport, England, we do not get to see her very often and our recent visit makes us comfortable with how she is looked after. I cannot remember the name of the charming young lady who is my sister's main carer, but her friendly smile, which accompanied her words to us and my sister is to be commended as is her happy attitude and most pleasant manner. She is a treat to be with!

My mother-in-law has lived happily at Norwood for 11 months. Previous to her moving in she had sustained a really nasty injury to her leg. The staff did an absolutely amazing job in getting her leg completely healed. They kept us informed at each stage of her recovery and did a truly remarkable job.
The staff are very pleasant and cheery and there are plenty of daily activities to keep all residents occupied and happy. The social media posts are brilliant for us as we don't live locally and this way we can see what my mother-in-law has been involved in each day.

My father-in-law has been in Norwood twice so far for a two-week stay each time. We have always felt he is safe, secure and happy there, he didn't want to leave after his first two-week stay with them. He has advanced Alzheimer and the staff know exactly how to care for him and how to treat him not
only well, but with dignity and respect. It is definitely where he will spend any further respite stays. We enjoy seeing what he has been up to via their social media page which is updated regularly. Fabulous service and all the staff we have met have been amazing.

Mum has complex medical needs and really suffered during lockdown, as most residents did, but the staff learned to use Zoom which we continue to use today.
I am most pleased with the appointment of an activities coordinator who has offered activities to encourage mental stimulation.

I feel as if the standards of the home has went down over the last year. No activities at all when they need it especially during Covid. How long can they make the excuse because of Covid. Staff are fantastic but under so much pressure due to staff shortages. Talking to staff; morale is down, also now
informed by the Head Nurse that the wrong dosage of medication was given to my mum and dad on two occasions, they suffer from heart failure.

If you are looking for somewhere that you can trust to take care of your loved one, Norwood is a place that you should consider.
I'm a nurse and acutely aware of the pitfalls and horror stories concerning care homes. Admitting that we can no longer cope with the care of a loved one is heartbreaking.
Finding somewhere that you can trust and that understands the needs of a patient with physical needs and dementia is not always easy.
The staff at Norwood have been kind to my step-father and when Mum visits they take time to listen and show genuine concern for her health too. The rooms are clean, the residents look cared for and the catering staff take note of resident preferences.
During the challenging times we find ourselves in, we know as a family that even though we can't visit because of Covid-19 and the need to protect the vulnerable population at Norwood - we know that our loved one will be cared for and wish nothing but the best for the Norwood Family at this time.

We were a bit anxious as to how mum would settle into a care home environment. She has however settled well. The staff are very nice, friendly and approachable. The care home is well kept, spotlessly clean and menus provide a good choice of meals. There are lots of organised activities and outings.
Mum has been made to feel welcome and the staff are attentive to mums needs.

Norwood care facility has been exceptional in the care of my father. A spotlessly clean environment, a lovely atmosphere and caring staff who work very hard. Patients are treated with dignity and staff show great humility in all their work. Can't fault the place which leaves us with peace of mind.
