Overall very pleased with the care and attention my sister has received, especially through the current pandemic. We understand it has been a difficult time for the staff dealing with Covid issues. Communication has been very good.

My brother has been residing at Ardencraig since July 2020. In that time, he has formed good relationships with both fellow residents and staff. I can have no complaints with regards to his care. He is fed three times a day and is actually putting weight on which he needed. He is showered every day
and has a shave at least every second one. He has never complained to me about anything during his stay. I would recommend this care home to anyone else because I know residents are looked after.

My mum has been a resident for some years now, and she's as happy if not happier than when she went in. There's always usually loads for her to get involved in and the carers and staff I can't praise enough. The way they are with mum and with me is amazing. The way they have dealt with our current pandemic
is just outstanding. The care they have is amazing. I'm so happy knowing my mum is happy, settled and well cared for. Means the world. Can't thank you all enough.

Thanks, Donna, this really is a lovely review, I am so happy that your mum is happy here and that you are happy with the care that we provide. I believe my team are pretty amazing and tell them this often enough but to have such positive feedback from family and/or residents means the world. I can't wait to share this with them, thanks again.

My Dad has come on in leaps and bounds due to the care and attention of the staff. Before going into the home, my Dad was lonely, depressed and couldn't fend for himself. My Dad is the happiest he's been for years.

I have no complaints. Because of the coronavirus, I have not been able to go inside the property, so I have missed these ratings out.

Hard to put an honest review on this year when most of family and relatives have not been allowed into the care home. But on that note, we have to credit the care home on giving families updates on their family member, phone calls from them and anything that is happening in the care home. All credit
to all members of the care home for keeping Covid out of the care home for as long as possible. They have been superb through this pandemic. Credit to them all. The only fault I have is their phone system. Sometimes absolute nightmare to get through. Can't you have a separate number for upstairs calls?
Reply from Andrea Lewis, Manager at Ardencraig Care Home

Thank you for your comments; I shall pass your kind words on to the staff. Trying times for all care homes and I remain to keep my fingers crossed that our residents, staff and families remain safe.
I will escalate the point regarding the phone line to our head office.

Since arriving at Ardencraig Care Home I have been treated with loads of care and dignity. I had an injury to my arm and there was an immediate response by the carer and the senior nurse. I will always be grateful for their attention.

Thank you, for your review, I shall happily share this with the staff, the facilities definitely requires a bit of TLC and I look forward to when we can get back to normal, improve our environment and have a fuller more community orientated activity programme as opposed to the current basic that we have due to covid.

The care home is very helpful and informative. They take care of the residents very well and have been careful of Covid. I trust them with my daughter.

I would like to thank you for the feedback. I shall share this with the team who will no doubt appreciate the positive feedback especially when their role has been made difficult through this pandemic. We all look forward to when we can welcome friends and families back into the home again, the home fully understands the strain that the pandemic has caused residents, families and friends and will continue to strive to ensure that our actions are the least restrictive and are supportive to all concerned. Thanks again, Andrea.

The staff at Ardencraig are very helpful and they really take care of my dad. My visits in the tent once a week, I really do appreciate it. My father is so content and he likes Ardencraig very much. I have not seen Dad's room yet, just a picture on a phone.

I have found the home caring, for my aunt who brought me up and is like a mother to me. She went into care in February 2013 and has been well looked after, and the head nurse has been wonderful to talk to and in caring for my aunt. The manager and managers part of the home has been a bit uneven at times,
but I think now it has been a lot better the past few months.

My husband is in a unit for those who have alcohol/drug problems, so it is a more recent part of Ardencraig. This was, and is, a lifeline for me as I could not cope any longer with my husband's addiction. There have been a few changes of management, but the staff and care continues to do the best for
residents. My husband is strong-willed and the staff have to work hard, be wise and patient which is appreciated.

My Mum was a resident in Ardencraig Care Home from January 2017 and sadly passed away in her lovely wee room on 21st November 2017 she had some good times and some bad due to her illness not her time in the care home. She enjoyed her wee day's out and the singing and sitting gabbing to the laundry staff
and anyone who would listen to her. She had a soft spot for a certain man who was in the unit upstairs as we as a family had too as he helped her a lot when she was down and being a pain when she would not take her medication. It's almost a year now since she has gone so I thought it was time to thank all the staff for the great care they gave her, we as a family appreciate all you did for her.
Thank you all so much, lots of love xxx

The care extremely good within this home. Recently since New Manager has started I feel a much more positive attitude and atmosphere within the Home. The decor needs to be updated and improved but very happy with the care of my uncle.

When my cousin first moved in the rooms weren't being cleaned and tidied properly, but in saying that the home was short staffed and since then, everything is now up to standard. The staff are all friendly and helpful and I can find no fault with either the staff or the home.

Current Review Score: 8.0 (8.028)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.0 (8.028) out of 10 for Ardencraig Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.6 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.431 for Ardencraig Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (47 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) + (6 Poors x 2) + (3 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 58 Ratings = 4.431
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.597 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ardencraig Care Home is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 90 registered maximum number of service users is 18. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 18 = 0.222
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
