Baillieston Care Home offers residential and nursing care in a quiet, residential area located on the outskirts of Glasgow.

Inside the home there are 60 bedrooms, all offering en suite facilities. Residents are welcome to bring along their own belongings and decorate their room however they wish to help them settle in and feel at home. There are also light and bright living areas, including a spacious dining area and seating areas where residents can relax or socialise with others. A garden outside the home offers a great space for residents to enjoy the warmer weather too.

The team of care professionals offer quality care to all residents but also work hard to create an engaging living environment where people feel part of the community. There are plenty of activities on offer and regular trips out are planned in the local area.

I believe my brother is getting great care at the home. He is enjoying being taken out by staff to local shop/cafes etc. The home are always willing to discuss and address any issues or concerns we have.

After my mother received a bad experience with an individual carer the rest of the carers and the management dealt with in a superb manner. My mother then took ill and we saw a fantastic level of care and love for her. I will be forever grateful for the way she was treated.

The care of my mother from all of the carers was heartwarming. To be able to leave after visiting and knowing mum was taken care of with such love and care made the worry a lot easier. Thank you all for everything.

My dad has been a resident at the home since January 2021 and he is settled and happy. The staff from top to bottom do their best at all times to meet his needs and everyone else’s too. Any concerns I have had or requests have always been addressed and the best care possible given. The home like every
other has had issues with staffing levels but this is mostly covered with agency staff (not ideal). but there seems to be more permanent staff visable lately whom are all very friendly and interact well with the residents. The home itself is well presented and clean. I don’t see a lot of activities going on between staff and residents which is a bit disappointing. Overall my dad is well cared for and all his medical and personal needs are met. The staff keep me well informed of any changes in my dad’s health and needs. They always remember all the family’s names and make us feel welcome at all times.

My mum has been a resident since March 2020.
This was a difficult time for everyone and the manager and staff were great. They did their best and were always available to ask questions when I’m sure they were inundated from all families.
The rooms are clean as is the other areas of the home.
My only
negative comment is that my mum's clothes and glasses are always going astray and there are many times she has someone else clothes on.
This aside the care home does a fantastic job and I would happily recommend them.

My Mum is a resident of Baillieston Care Home. She is happy and I feel she is well cared for. The staff are attentive and very caring and upbeat. Thank you to the manager and all the staff who spend time looking after her. Her key workers are especially attentive. The only negative point is the food
as my mum is not happy, she complains to our family.

Care is generally good.
Entertainment is sadly lacking, and I find it quite frankly shocking that in this day and age the residents have no access to WiFi.
Too many residents' items go missing, such as spectacles and clothing.
Reply from Kiana Greenan, Marketing at Baillieston Care Home

Hello, firstly I am so sorry you did not have the best experience. We have recruited new activities lead who will be covering all entertainment from now on. Due to staffing issues, this has been a problem but we can assure you now that the issue has been resolved.
As for the Wi-Fi I can also assure you we do have working Wi-Fi in all of our Silverline Care homes, so I am unsure why you seemed to have had issue. Wi-Fi is important for us as it keeps us in touch with each other as well as providing entertainment for our residents.
Any issues with missing items we have always advised our resident's families to discuss with management. If you have a particular item please get in touch directly.

Thank you

I am writing this review in the hope that the owners of the care home take some notice (not the care home Manager). Whilst I understand there will be a new activities coordinator starting, the home has had no coordinator at all for some considerable time. Two positions are required to be filled and
only one has been filled thus far. There has been little if any stimulus or daily interactions for residents. Residents are more often than not left to watch TV, sometimes unsupervised. Whilst required staffing numbers seem to be met, this is more often than not predominantly using agency staff. Always changing and bringing no continuity or investment in the care or relationship building with residents. Hopefully, it will improve but in comparison to other care homes I have experienced having other family members in, the stimulation for residents is night and day.
Reply from Kiana Greenan, Marketing at Baillieston Care Home

Hi Karen, I am so sorry you have been feeling like this as it is not the experience we aim to offer our residents. Recruitment is a challenge in the care sector at the moment and we are in the process of appointing several new members of staff however we need to ensure that thorough background checks are carried out to ensure the safety of our residents. This has sometimes led to the use of agency staff, but we do try to use staff known to us to ensure continuity as much as possible. Residents are always appropriately supervised and we try to schedule activities on a regular basis as we understand the importance of stimulation. Thank you for your feedback and we can assure you we are trying to best to improve our service. Silverline is holding a successful recruitment drive at the moment and the role of activity co-ordinator should be filled shortly.

My mum was a resident at Baillieston Care Home for 3 years until she passed away in May this year. Everyone connected to Baillieston Care Home is amazing. The care for her welfare was always paramount and all her needs were fully met. Especially end of life care, she was treated with dignity and respect
throughout. As a family, we always felt supported by the staff and kept informed in every step of our mother's care. Covid was a challenging time in which they all did fantastically well in keeping the residents entertained. This is a home which is very much involved with the local community. My family and I would not hesitate to recommend Baillieston Care Home. An absolute gem of a place.

It is never easy when your parent has reached the stage in their life when they have to move into a Care Home, and that was the situation facing my mum in April 2019. We were extremely fortunate that a room became available in Baillieston Care Home. The attention my mum received from all of the staff
was second to none, even with the difficulties associated with Covid 19. Sadly my mum passed away in July. I was able to be with my mum when she passed, and the comfort from the staff that both my mum and I received during her final week was tremendous. I cannot thank the entire team at Baillieston enough, and wholeheartedly recommend them when you face that difficult time.

My dad has been cared for by the home since January 2021. It’s been a very difficult time. However, I have found the staff extremely helpful and friendly. The Manager does her best to keep us updated and has always made herself available to help when needed, which is appreciated. I don’t envy her or
her team just now but they are doing a great job!
Home very clean, rooms comfortable but can’t comment on food as have not tasted.
Special mention also to the lady on the front desk, who is always available, very friendly, helpful and always does her best to answer my questions.
Would I recommend the home? Absolutely.
Thank you to all the staff for your care & support of my dad!

My mum spent the last 4 years of her life under the care of the wonderful staff at Baillieston Care Home.
Due to poor health, my mum was completely bedridden and in need of 24-hour care, this was provided with the utmost respect and professionalism by each member of staff she encountered during her
stay.
My mum loved the social interaction between staff and residents, despite her poor health my mum loved a joke and a blether and the staff were always very accommodating with both.
From carers to management, the friendly staff are what make it so special and I wouldn’t have wanted her anywhere else.

I would highly recommend Baillieston Care Home. My dad is currently a resident. My mum was, but sadly passed away in May this year. We could not have asked for better care for them both. The staff go above and beyond, one person in particular who spent hours with us at Mum's bedside while at end of
life. Mum had the best care we could ask for. The reason we picked Baillieston was our first impressions and the lovely themes that ran through the home. It was bright, colourful and cheery and gives.

During these difficult times, I have been very impressed with the staff and the manner in which they have coped with the situation. Communication has been very good, with phone calls, Facebook photos, email updates, etc all keeping me informed and up to date with what's happening at the care home and
with my mum. The recent "drive-through" visit was excellent and well organised, and it was great to see Mum after three months of no visiting. Many thanks to all staff for their efforts and continued care; it is very much appreciated.

From the first introduction to management and staff, I was made to feel that my Mum would be well looked after. There was a genuine interest in my Mum and her needs. This has been a very difficult time for everyone in this pandemic but the home has tried many ways to allow us to keep in touch, from
Facetime calls to drive through visits, at all times trying to keep my Mum's spirits up. The staff and management have been great.

Current Review Score: 8.6 (8.612)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.6 (8.612) out of 10 for Baillieston Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.695 for Baillieston Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (44 Excellents x 5) + (12 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 59 Ratings = 4.695
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.917 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Baillieston Care Home is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 12 = 0.417
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
