Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My father was a resident at Oakview Manor for the final 2 months of his life. He had dementia and had been in and out of 6 other care homes or hospitals. Oakview was by far the best care home. The staff without exception were very caring and attended to his needs at all times. His room was always clean
and tidy and he enjoyed the food on offer. His bad skin condition improved significantly as he was bathed daily and lotions regularly applied. Although he had lost interest in most activities, the activities staff made a great effort to try to engage with him and got some response. In the end, one member of staff attended to his last requests, made him comfortable and he thankfully passed away peacefully. Our whole family would like to thank all the staff at Oakview for all the wonderful kindness and care provided to my father. I would have no hesitation in recommending this home to anyone needing care in old age.

It was very difficult for me to accept that Mum needed to go into care due to my poor health and work commitments. I found the staff to be very empathetic and reassuring, and Mum, herself, cannot praise the care and food enough. I am so grateful to have found this a success for my mum and myself.

Mum has been a resident at Oakview since June 2018. I am very happy with the level of care she has received during her time here. The staff work incredibly hard and I would like to thank them all for the tremendous work they do and especially during COVID. Mum is happy here, always well presented and
enjoys her homemade soup every day. Staff are caring, patient and attentive. Thank you.

Feel that Oakview Manor have cared for my mother at a difficult time in her life. They have also been sympathetic when we could not visit, having to do door visits which was difficult due to Covid. Feel, in particular, that a couple of carers are great ambassadors for the care sector.

My partner has been living in Oakview Manor for a few months now, and he seems quite content and likes the staff. He enjoys the food, although he never remembers what he had for his last meal - even when he only had it fifteen minutes before!

Senior carer and carers all very helpful. Relate well with my mother and personal care is good. Rooms are well kept and ensuite facilities good.
Mum's room is one of the smallest available and in need of decoration but clean and well located on 1st floor and convenient for both lounge and family room.
This is fine as her mobility is poor (can walk with the assistance of carers).
Also needs some assistance with eating/drinking to ensure dietary requirements are met. Mum's anxiety is much reduced and this is down to personal care and being treated with dignity which is very much appreciated.

Current Review Score: 8.1 (8.063)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.1 (8.063) out of 10 for Oakview Manor Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 1 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.1 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 5.000 for Oakview Manor Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (12 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 12 Ratings = 5
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.063 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Oakview Manor Care Home is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 = 3
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 80 registered maximum number of service users is 16. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 16 = 0.063
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
