We have been very happy with the care that my dad received at Stobhill Care Home. The staff were all very caring and really got to know him. The activities helped his dementia, and he was treated with dignity at all times. We were always made very welcome when we visited and kept very involved in decisions about his care. Staff were very supportive of us during his final days.

The care home has a very welcoming environment, with a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness already in place. The staff enrich the lives of residents, promoting active lifestyles, independence and dignity. The staff are very interactive with residents and yet show awareness of the individual care needs of them all. As a family, we are reassured Mum is being well looked after, and they have her best interest at heart. The social media updates are a bonus as some of the family live abroad but are updated every day to keep them updated on Mum's activities and outings. Overall, five-stars.

I can't thank the staff at the home enough for all the sympathy given to myself and my mum in supporting her move from the hospital into the home. They have made what has been a very challenging time for our family so reassuring and great comfort, as we see my mum settle in and adjust. I have found the staff and the manager to be very supportive and approachable, always there to help when they can. Thank you from our family.

My mum has been a resident for over a year now, and I have to say, the care and attention given have been excellent. She is very happy there, and the staff have been great with everyone during the pandemic, keeping them occupied with activities throughout.

I cannot speak highly enough of all the amazing staff. My mum is so well cared for, and I have peace of mind. I am kept well informed of medical needs, diet and her general well being. I am very impressed at the amount of activities on offer both for people who enjoy group work or prefer a one to one. I feel I can speak to any staff member, and they are always willing to chat. The manager is very approachable and keeps the residents' families well informed of everything going on.

My dad has been in this care home for two years now. I did not believe it was possible for this group of truly amazing people to improve on what I thought was perfection, but they have managed to do just that.
During this lockdown, they have gone way beyond what should have been asked of them.

They have an amazing program of activities, and families are kept involved with lots of pictures and videos. A family member commented that my dad gets more hugs and love in a day than he gets in a year, and he is absolutely correct. I could not recommend this place more highly, and I will leave instructions that if I have to go into care, this is where I want to be.

I can honestly say that I am glad we picked Stobhill Care Home for my dad, as the last year has been tough for everyone with all the pandemic has brought to us. The staff are amazing and have gone above and beyond during this time, from the nurses, care assistants, activity people, kitchen and laundry staff, domestics, admin, and last but by no means least, the manager who has been absolutely brilliant and have been in contact with me throughout; Dads happy and that's what matters.

My dad has been in the care home since May 2020 due to his deterioration with Alzheimer's. He is in the best place for him now, he is getting the 24/7 care that he needs, we as a family tried our best, but with lockdown, we had no choice, Stobhill care home was recommended to us, and I am glad we took their advice. My dad is happy as can be with the illness he suffers from, the staff are all great with him, we can call anytime and speak to Dad and see him through the window, all of the staff that I have met are lovely and answer all my questions when I have any. Lockdown is hard for everyone, and hopefully, soon we will be able to visit our loved ones indoors for cuddles. I can't comment on anything within the home as never been inside due to lockdown.

Overall Experience
My mum has been a resident of the dementia unit for a few years now. Our family chose this care home because it was bright, lively and friendly. The day rooms are busy and always have something going on, which is reassuring, as we wouldn't wish our mum to be sitting with no stimulation.
Over the past year and in light of the pandemic, it has been reassuring for families as the home has gone above and beyond to look after our loved ones in our absence. Recently, the entertainment team have been fabulous by posting on Facebook pictures, videos and messages from the residents. Window visits, outdoor visits and Skype calls have been arranged. I regularly call to ask how my mum is doing, and I'm always met with a friendly voice at the end of the phone with an update.

The entertainment team arrange lots of arts and crafts as well as music-themed/movie days for residents. I feel the music idea is fantastic as it's a great mood lifter and helps stimulate memories for our loved ones. Well Done!

My father has been in the care home for 5 1/2 years. He recently suffered a seizure and was admitted to hospital. Thankfully it wasn’t serious. He was returned to the care home and the House Manager got my dad transferred downstairs so that we could get to see him if we could due to COVID-19. He also arranged for my mother to see him before he was taken away in the ambulance as we did not know if that was the last time we would see him, as my mother, due to health issues has been unable to see her husband since March. It was so thoughtful of them and I can’t thank everyone at the care home enough for all that they are doing for my dad and the other residents.

My mother has lived in this Care Home for over 2 years now. At first, I was against her going into a Care Home. Eventually, I had to admit she needed more help than I could give. I visited several care homes to the point I went back several times to the Care Homes I thought I liked more than others. Stobhill Care Home always came top of the list. Always not letting them know I was turning up. Just wanted to check on them when they had no idea I would turn up. I was always welcomed and nothing was too much for them. I was never made to feel unwelcome for just turning up either.

The staff, make this care home. I honestly mean it. They know my mothers favourite food, where I take her out to. They laugh and joke

that she is going for fritters again and a milkshake, in other words, it's the personal feelings they treat people with, laughing and joking and treating them like part of their family, not just residents but their extended family.

Mum has been a resident in here for 3 years now. Although she has Alzheimer's and doesn't have much to say, I can see that she is happy here, which is the important thing for me, she is well cared for, always clean. As I visit most days, it's nice to see all the other residents. If it's only residential you need, then there's plenty of other residents that you can talk with or participate in games with.

It was the hardest decision I have ever had to make, putting my Mum into full-time care, but the Alzheimers left me no choice. Stobhill Care home was the best choice. The staff not only put my Mum's mind at ease but mine also. The care they provide is excellent and they treat my Mum with the utmost dignity and like a member of their own. They keep me up to date with her care plan and all events planned at the home. I know my Mum is safe now and in good hands.

Poorly managed, no structure to complaint or comment. Comment and you risk losing your place! Ask for help and you're told (by management), no. My family have been told they ask too many questions and this comes across as aggressive. I've personally asked for examples to help the situation, however, the management doesn't have a single example (either documented or not). They had a perception! My own thoughts are my Dad has become difficult as his condition worsens and this has become an issue. They have also said my Dad has become violent. Nothing reported in any of the accident books and no recorded incidents that they can share!

Please avoid if you can, if you can't please keep an eye on your loved one and don't be put off asking questions.

The home is situated in a nice place, you can see the campsites from a distance.

The only thing I would say is the lack of activities within the home for residents. I know it's difficult to get them to be motivated and into certain things but a wee film day with old classics would get the ball rolling.

The care the residents receive is on a not bad scale, again, I know they are busy but one-day last weekend my gran was needing the loo and we were told to wait as another resident was getting bathed. I was not happy as it would have taken 5 mins to sort my gran out she was very upset and agitated was not happy about this at all, but other than that the home is clean and the rooms are spacious the protection of meal times is a good idea as it lets resident eat and not have any distractions all in all my family have no complaints.
