A well known professor introduced the concept of, 'personhood'. He observed in people with dementia, that it was not just an illness, it was strangely influenced but how people were treated by people and society - Lilyburn Care Home demonstrates this concept beautifully.
Dementia can also be described as, 'family disease'. Not only does it destroy the person's independence, it causes unquantifiable distress to the carers.
Lillyburn has exceeded all my expectations and diminished all my fears of my mum's life in a care home. For many years I fretted about when the time would come that she was no longer safe to live in her own home. If I had known then, how happy, content, comfortable and cared for she would be, I would have saved myself many tears.

I am a nurse and I love my mum dearly. My wish would have been to cared for her myself but family life does not permit this and her needs are greater than I can provide, 24 hours per day. Lillyburn provides the next best thing.

My mother has been in Lillyburn for two and a half years as a permanent resident following a short period in respite. In that time, she has been very well cared for and has found that the staff very kind and thoughtful throughout. It has been good for me to know that she is happy and being well looked after. I have been kept well informed by the staff as to her wellbeing, particularly during the COVID pandemic.

The care manager, general care and nursing staff have been a great source of comfort to my uncle who has recently entered Lillyburn Care Home. Lillyburn Care Home has quickly become his new home, he has settled extremely well and that is all down to the attention of the staff.
Whilst the care home itself is very clean, rooms are comfortable and food is of a high standard there are also lots of activities to keep residents occupied.

Staff are really friendly and cannot do enough for their residents, the gem of this care home is definitely THE STAFF. They really show that they care about individuals, in every way they can, nothing is too much trouble and they listen to their residents. It seems a happy place to be, good facilities and residents are well catered for, the countryside all around is a bonus. Being very close to the activity and well being of my uncle I would highly recommend this and the other care homes associated with Lillyburn.

I chose Lillyburn Care Home for my mother after 30 years experience in Social Work, connections with various Nursing Homes across Central Scotland, and after viewing numerous Homes prior to admission. I consider Lillyburn to be the best in my locality for numerous reasons:

The environment is perfectly pitched aesthetically, beautifully clean (domestics amazing) All staff engage with residents with true genuine love, care, warmth, compassion and kindness. Staff are genuinely patient, alert and concerned aiming to meet the needs of residents/family diligently and consistently. Quality in all aspects is given, Manager, cooks, laundry, handyman, reception staff, activities coordinators, all give 100% and are inclusive in customer care. My mother is content, well cared for and happy considering her severe limitations, restricted independence and reliance on others to meet her full hierarchy of needs. Delighted with Lillyburn professional and welcoming.

I visit regularly and am always made very welcome.
Staff are kind and caring towards my relative, going to the extra mile even when she and other residents show difficult or disturbing behaviour.

The use of music as therapy has had a very calming and positive effect.

My relative has been cared for within the confines of Lilyburn Care Home for three years. Her needs required that she be transferred to a Wing where she has continued to benefit from the most caring, compassionate and friendly care and support that we have come to expect of this home. My relative's changing needs have been quickly revised and the appropriate changes undertaken.
When visiting I am aware of the meaningful interaction of all members of staff with my relative and other residents, on occasions in challenging circumstances.

This is very much a home from home, as it can be, with comfort and cleanliness. I am unable to express my appreciation fully of what has been done for my relative and myself since we became part of the Lilburn Care Home family. Thank you, one and all.

Mum has been in Lillyburn for just over 3 years and during that time has been very well looked after. She is now not as able as she used to be but is still encouraged to join in the activities on offer. The staff are great, always helpful and friendly. I can’t fault them for the job they do as I know mum can be challenging.

On entering the care home any staff you meet will always acknowledge you and all the staff know all the residents by name which leads to a happy and friendly environment.

The building and outdoor areas are well maintained. I have no concerns that my relative is not being treated well. The activities are good and varied.

My mother settled in quickly to her new surroundings and immediately called it her home.

She loves to show us her beautiful bedroom and en-suite bathroom, both of which are kept spotlessly clean. My mother is always smartly dressed and the staff always remember the small touches like beads and bracelets which make her feel nice. The hairdressing salon on site is ideal too. There is a relaxed and homely atmosphere when I visit my mother. She enjoys the fact that the residents all sit together in the open plan lounge, giving her company all the time. The meals are of an excellent standard. The staff are friendly, cheerful and take time to talk to me if I have any concerns.

Not impressed with the care my mum receives, the common areas are not very comfortable and are too small for the number of patients.
I have a real problem with this company constantly raising the monthly bill with no real explanation as to why.

My mother's personal care clothing, hair etc is neglected.

Lillyburn has a good layout. Bedrooms are all located off the main living area, much more social than long corridors in other homes. There is plenty of space for residents to wander around.

The staff genuinely care for the residents. I know they meet minimum staff numbers required by law but I feel there should be more on shift at any given time.

It is nice to arrive for a visit and find your relative interacting with staff members, good banter between them all.

Food quality seems good and sandwiches always available if main meal not wanted. Visitors can make tea/coffee for themselves and their relative.

Rooms recently decorated with modern en-suite.

Home always smells clean and fresh.

Mother appears to be well cared for and the staff are very good with her. She has only been in the home a few weeks so my assessment is still limited.

I feel that there could be more stimulation given but that may be that mother does not want to join in what is available.
