Kirknowe Care Home, situated in the peaceful community of Wishaw, supports older people to lead their best lives with personalised nursing and nursing dementia care.

Kirknowe has recently undergone a refurbishment which has enhanced communal areas to enhance the daily life of every Resident and support the mind, body and soul. The onsite hair salon, café and hobby room are great places for residents to relax and pursue hobbies and interests.

The catering team at Kirknowe understands the nutritional needs of older people and creates delicious meals to ensure a lovely dining experience for all residents and visitors. The wide range of popular dining areas provide a welcoming space to enjoy meals with fellow residents, or family and friends.

The dedicated and professional care team at Kirknowe likes to learn about each resident’s hobbies and interests to design a comprehensive activity programme, supporting those living in the home to enjoy the things they love most. We are aware that Mum can be challenging but the staff at Kirknowe have been fantastic. Mum has settled well and is otherwise well cared for and healthy. She has enjoyed the activities and outings. She has also made friends. I love how the carers will bring tea and biscuits for her visitors. Thanks

Care home is very immaculate and clean to a high standard. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Staff are also very helpful and professional. Activities is fantastic. The Activities Coordinator is also very hands on with residents, approachable and excellent at her job. Food menu is impressive and
Gran has no complaints. Therefore I would mark the care home 10/10. Office staff were our first point of contact before Gran got placement. They were efficient, caring, compassionate and very professional. They went the extra mile. We cant thank them enough.

My mother has been a resident in Kirknowe Care Home since April 2018. When my mum arrived there, she had been extremely ill in all a general hospital. She was very frail and feeling vulnerable. She is 95, blind, not good on her feet but mentally sound.
The care she has received has been first class.
She has recuperated and living life again.
Thanks to the care of this home.

Since my brother's arrival at Kirknowe he has settled happily into his new life - no more fear of being alone overnight, or anxious about what is happening.
He knows that 24 hours a day there is help and reassurance if he needs it. He enjoys all his meals and is happy to watch everything going on around
him.
As his family, we feel relieved of any worry or anxiety, as we know he is safe.
Nursing care is excellent - professional and friendly.

Both my mum and dad have been in Kirknowe nursing home. Mum passed away in 2005 and I was looked after extremely well during her years there. Dad is in Kirkfieldbank House and has been there for 4 years - he isn't just looked after well - he is truly loved by all the staff! I know that he is truly in
good hands.

My mother has resided in Kirknowe Care Home since October 2015. I have nothing but praise for all the care and compassion shown to her from staff in every department over the last two years.


Mum celebrating her 100th birthday on the 6th February 2018, we as a family along with mum will never forget

the wonderful day we had.


The staff provided a birthday cake and was exceptionally lovely along with the love from all a tKirknowe Care Home.

Dad stayed at Kirknowe from November 2016 until his death a few days ago (Jan 2018). After collapsing at his home and a fortnight's stay in hospital, he arrived at Kirknowe disorientated and still suffering from the physical trauma. Kirknowe facilitated the prompt organisation of his care package,
and together with South Lanarkshire Social Work, ensured that a precious place was there for him as he certainly could not have returned to his own home. I don't think the staff could have done more to ease the transfer for him and welcome him into what was a completely new environment. The staff have been invariably kind and attentive to him and, although his dementia progressed throughout the last year, his needs have been constantly assessed and attended to.


I have nothing but praise for the staff and acknowledge that caring for the elderly with dementia is demanding and a very special vocation. Consequently, I am more than happy to sincerely recommend Kirknowe as a suitable care home.

Our experience of Kirkfieldbank House, Kirknowe was excellent. This was not just a place of care but was also one of warmth and affection and undoubted professionalism. We were delighted with everything and most importantly, our mother was happy there. Her end of life care and the care offered to her

When my mother in law first came here, it was a challenge for the staff to get to know her as she can be very demanding. Staff persistence was really good and they have now got an insight to what she can be like and vice-versa. Staff are friendly and helpful, caring and understanding. The only problem
I see is short staffed which puts a lot of pressure on to them. It just means they can't give the care and attention to residents the way they would like to. My mother-in-law is disabled and has health issues but the staff (medical and care) make sure she is looked after. Would like to see more entertainment and I feel the food could be a bit more satisfactory as it seems bland. I bring food in for my mother-in-law.

Mum has been in Kirknowe for over 5 weeks. In that time the staff have gotten to know her and care is centred around her individual requirements, likes and dislikes


The staff and management are very helpful and friendly and eager to help. The home is kept to a very high standard of cleanliness and

the residents are cared for with dignity and respect. Visitors are welcome to visit at any time outside meal times. There is a good ratio of staff to residents and everyone is approachable and helpful.


Mum's speech is not great but the care and friendliness of the staff have helped her settle in well. All the staff are attentive to her needs and always mention her lovely smile.


The meals are excellent and mum really enjoys the food.

At all times staff and management are very helpful and friendly, always smiling, cheerful and eager to help. The home is kept to a very high standard of cleanliness and the residents are cared for with dignity and caring visitors are welcome warmly and called by name.

My mother has been living in Hazelbank Unit for just over six weeks. Her room is lovely and the staff are very caring. There is a good ratio of staff to residents and there is a good programme of activities. My elderly father lives at the home but visits every day, and he is encouraged to stay for dinner
whenever he wants, which is easing this difficult situation for him. All staff are very approachable and helpful and I feel my mother has settled in well so far.

I find the home to be very clean and well cared for. The staff could not be nicer or kinder. I feel that all the staff from all grades to be friendly and very helpful. They make families feel part of the home. I will say that my sister is well looked after, clean and fed. She has a lot more interests
than she had at home before coming into the home. The staff were all very sympathetic and caring when her husband died in the home. They made things so much easier for the family.

My husband has been in your home since October 2015, he has dementia and other problems. Since he went into the home in he has been very happy and well looked after. The staff are superb and my husband loves them all. I visit everyday and they keep me very well informed. I would recommend this home
to anyone.

My aunt was in the home for six years. I always found that she was happy and well looked after and the staff seemed to have a soft spot for her despite her conditions. I was always informed of any illness and issue that occurred. I am sincerely grateful for all the care the staff gave her over the

When my wife was confirmed as needing to enter a care home, my family and I did some detailed investigation (including Care Inspectorate reports) of the placements available and visited a number of specialist dementia units. We concluded that Kirknowe was the most appropriate and I now consider that
this was a very good decision. In the two months she has been there we have been highly impressed by the level of care and concern shown to her by all staff from domestic through carers and nursing staff and up to unit management. Their care is professional, respectful, continuous and indeed very personal. We have had the opportunity to observe the care given to all resident of the unit and it is always of a very high standard no matter how difficult the situation may be. In every respect, our hopes and expectations of the level of care have been exceeded. Although she is severely impaired, my wife has settled in well and appears to respond well to her carers and appreciate the attention they give her.
