Cathkin House offers contemporary and homely facilities and quality care with a warm welcome. The skilled team provides expert nursing care for older people, some of whom are also living with mild dementia.

The purpose-built care home is warm and comfortable with spacious, en-suite bedrooms, several lounges for relaxing in or catching up with friends and loved ones. There is even a hair salon so residents can enjoy being pampered at any time.

The team holds regular meetings with residents to talk about upcoming activities and get everyone’s suggestions about new dishes to add to the menu. Monthly care reviews are also held with each resident and their family to ensure that the care Cathkin House delivers is in line with what they need and want.

other privately arranged healthcare. Should you require an escort to hospital appointments, we may apply
an agreed hourly charge for this service.

My brother was in Cathkin House Care Home for palliative care for a short time, we cannot praise the management and care staff enough. My brother and the family were made to feel welcome from the start. All staff treated him and us with care and compassion at all times. The individual care he received
was outstanding. It was a home from home for him. I would highly recommend this home for a loved one.

From the outset, we knew that we had chosen a truly super care home for Mum.
Staff and management listened to our concerns and acted appropriately on them.
Mum was treated with dignity, compassion, care and love.
Every member of the staff here from management, nurses, carers, auxiliaries are angels
in disguise.
This establishment was spotless and the care was exemplary.
Mum was extremely happy and relaxed in her time there.
We as a family cannot praise them highly enough.
Special thanks must go to the manager of the unit who made us feel like family.

Mum has been at Cathkin House for 6 weeks, her move during lockdown was handled seamlessly. I have found the staff to be caring and nothing seems too much trouble. I would happily recommend this home.
As I have only had 30-minute visits I cannot comment on some options.

My mum has been a resident with the care home for a few years now. The staff take great care of her needs and wellbeing, encouraging her to join in with others during events. When she is having an off day and feeling sad they help to cheer her up. I got a big welcome from staff during my first indoor
visit since lockdown. It felt good being able to speak to Mum from inside the care home being able to chat to her without any noisy traffic. The staff are all fantastic looking after the residents during this worrying time.

My mother was initially a resident in another care home. We were devastated at this closure. However, with the transfer of key staff, the transitions were seamless. We are delighted with how Mum is managed and cannot thank the staff highly enough for the exceptional care which is provided.

Staff are wonderful. Food is great. The bedroom is great. I require a lot of attention and I receive it.
I like one member of staff in particular, she is so kind and helpful to me. I have had a very bad year and was very low in spirit but was helped very much by the care.
My helper is my son and carer
and he is so pleased at the attention he gets from the staff.

All of the staff are very friendly, helpful and accommodating. There is nothing that they will not do to help residents and family members. Pictures of activities are regularly posted on the internet to keep family members updated and newsletters are circulated.

My mum has been in the care home since March 2019 and she is very happy here. She has improved well in her speech and is starting to eat. Her room is very nice and we have put some of her own things which makes her happy. All the staff are so caring and cheery and look after Mum well.

During the last two years of my mums life, she was treated with care and concern. Due to dementia, mum could be very difficult to manage but was treated with patience and respect at all times. Manager knew all patients well and was always willing to be available if required. Meals were of a very good

Since my nana moved into Cathkin House care home the staff have been absolutely outstanding and treat her with dignity and respect at all times. They have also been very considerate to all family members.


Her room is lovely and clean.


All food and activities have been of a much better standard

My mother has been at the care home since July and I am extremely pleased with the care and dignity shown towards her since she has arrived here.
The home is the very best place for my mum as she has very friendly residents and staff around her who attend to all her needs.
She is happy there and joins
in most of the activities.
I am extremely happy with my mum's feeling of enjoyment and there has been no sense of her feeling lonely.
It is such a pleasure to see her smiling when we arrive to visit her.

Having looked at many nursing homes in East Kilbride, we decided to opt for Cathkin House to look after my father who had been in the hospital for a long time and was now being transferred to a nursing home. Having looked around the home we were impressed with the rooms as well as layout and also the
garden area outside, which sadly my father never got to use. Having spent a lot of time with my father before he passed I knew that I had made the right choice of home for him. The staff were absolutely fantastic in caring for him, nothing was too much trouble they really went above the call of duty looking after him and also my mother who was there always. Every single member of staff treated him with dignity and compassion and I wish to thank you all from the bottom of my heart .

I feel that Cathkin House is generally run well. The nurses and staff on my mothers floor look after her well. My mum is fortunate that her family attend everyday to visit and the staff appreciate the help we give, The nurse and carers are very good. Even the cleaner is very attentive to my mum. Sometimes
the food could be better. On the whole we are pleased with her care.

Nisha Sujeewon

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2021

I joined Cathkin House in February 2021 and I was encouraged to join Care UK as I had heard about the diversity of the company - the caring practice and the values of the company says everything.


I have been working in the care industry for 20 years now. I came to Scotland as a general registered nurse from Mauritius and with the support of my peers, I worked my way up the career ladder.


One of my biggest career highlights has been the awards I’ve won in my previous care homes. I’m proud to have won awards within the company, a Scottish care award as well as a community award for the care delivery in my home and engagement with the community.


As a home manager, you need to be a good listener, patient and compassionate towards both your residents and staff. I believe you lead by example rather than being the boss.


I am looking forward to promoting excellence in dementia in the home. I am also focusing on developing the person-centred care approach in the home, enablement, and implementing more meaningful activities.
