Cathkin House offers contemporary and homely facilities and quality care with a warm welcome. The skilled team provides expert nursing care for older people, some of whom are also living with mild dementia.

The purpose-built care home is warm and comfortable with spacious, en-suite bedrooms, several lounges for relaxing in or catching up with friends and loved ones. There is even a hair salon so residents can enjoy being pampered at any time.

The team holds regular meetings with residents to talk about upcoming activities and get everyone’s suggestions about new dishes to add to the menu. Monthly care reviews are also held with each resident and their family to ensure that the care Cathkin House delivers is in line with what they need and want.

other privately arranged healthcare. Should you require an escort to hospital appointments, we may apply
an agreed hourly charge for this service.

The place is tidy, smart and the staff and management are excellent. My wife has put on weight since she came in the home and her pain is managed very well. Care delivery has been excellent and the staff could not do enough for her.

Initially good but then standards dropped rapidly. Dont, know if it was due to staffing levels or not.
Mum broke her left wrist in March 2023 and I was telephoned at 2.30 am and then at 7.30 am demanding that I attend the hospital. Mum didn't want me there, she wasn't dying. But went anyway.
Mum complained
upon returning that her wrist was still painful even after the cast had been removed and it was clearly visible that her wrist was not right. Fast forward 4 weeks when mum again had a fall and I sat with her for 3 hours waiting for an ambulance. Then 3.5 hours in a hospital car park waiting to be triaged with no pain relief. Mum was discharged back to the home, however, she was complaining of terrible pain in her side and for 8 days was ignored by staff. I had requested additional pain relief and was ignored then finally a doctor was called and suspected her hip had been damaged. She had a broken pelvis, she lay for 8 days in agony with a broken pelvis being ignored by the staff.

Both management and care staff have been very patient and attentive to my mother since her arrival in January 2023. Management's advice, help and sensitive listening to us have made things much easier for us. There is normally plenty of staff around when we visit which we find reassuring. Staff respond

My mum unexpectedly and quickly needed professional, 24-hour care. This is the first place myself and sister viewed, we immediately had a very positive "feel" for the place. Dad was very frail when he moved to Cathkin House Care Home in May 2022 following a three month hospital stay and we are delighted to see that he has settled well, is engaging with staff and other residents and putting on weight. Since Dad moved to Cathkin I have noticed that all of the care team go
above and beyond for their residents. Yesterday Mum and Dad celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary by enjoying a lovely meal for two at a beautifully set table in the quiet lounge with candles, music and fizz. All of this was instigated and delivered by the team at Cathkin and much appreciated by Mum and Dad.

My wife has been in Cathkin House Care Home for a month. On arrival, the room had been freshly decorated as promised. The staff are caring, polite and helpful.
My wife requires support with personal care and this is provided in a sensitive manner.
Very impressed with the caring attitude of all staff.

Mum has only been a resident at Cathkin House Care Home for just over two weeks, it is, therefore, difficult to comment on all of the categories. To date, however, we have had a very positive experience and have received excellent support and guidance from the manager and other staff we have met so

I recently moved my mum from another care home into Cathkin House Care Home. It was a big decision as she is 93 and has dementia. However, even though she has only been there a short time, it's proving to be the best decision we have ever made on my mum's behalf.
The staff, including the managers,
are wonderful and treat my mum with love and respect. She looks great and is settling in well. I can sleep again at night knowing she is being well looked after.

Nisha Sujeewon

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2021

I joined Cathkin House in February 2021 and I was encouraged to join Care UK as I had heard about the diversity of the company - the caring practice and the values of the company says everything.


I have been working in the care industry for 20 years now. I came to Scotland as a general registered nurse from Mauritius and with the support of my peers, I worked my way up the career ladder.


One of my biggest career highlights has been the awards I’ve won in my previous care homes. I’m proud to have won awards within the company, a Scottish care award as well as a community award for the care delivery in my home and engagement with the community.


As a home manager, you need to be a good listener, patient and compassionate towards both your residents and staff. I believe you lead by example rather than being the boss.


I am looking forward to promoting excellence in dementia in the home. I am also focusing on developing the person-centred care approach in the home, enablement, and implementing more meaningful activities.
