Cathkin House

I live near London so am unable to visit often. It is so reassuring to know my mother is receiving the best care. The staff seem genuinely soo friendly and attentive. The facilities are excellent. Safety and cleanliness is also clearly prioritised. The food looks and smells great. I'm looking forward to the taster session later this week I think. I haven't been present during activities but from what I hear from my mum and others so has a great time dancing. Thank you soo much for all you do.

Cathkin House is a well run and caring home management staff are great always willing to help and carers are all willing to help. I know my sister is being looked after and she is safe.

My mum was transferred here from hospital we were told she was going for comfort care and she had demetia after a spell with infection after infection she was very poorly Since coming to Cathkin House She has improved 100% her memory is back shes eating and shes happy again . This is due to the amazing care from every staff member. They are a fantastic team my mum is kept immaculate and there care is second to none thank you so much

The management and staff at Cathkin House are superb. They are caring and very respectful of the residents. The facilities are more than I would have expected and I know that the residents are well looked after.

We were devastated that our dad couldn't return home after a fall. Finding the right care home was emotionally draining, most felt cold and dismissive, often telling us to "check the website" or "read the inspectorate report." Then we found Cathkin House, GAME CHANGER! From the 1st call, Mgmt and Admin were warm, patient, and genuinely caring. They answered every question and gave us hope. The transition from hospital was seamless, and Dad's mood instantly lifted. Every staff member, from mgmt to housekeeping, treats him like family, always stopping for a chat or a laugh. His room is spotless and personalised with his own furniture, nothing was a problem, even the handyman helped with a smile. There are plenty of activities, and the occasional excursion, and so much joy. Communication is second to none, Mgmt even called during their own time. These people live and breathe care. We finally have peace of mind. Thankyou Cathkin House, when can I move in!

My mum was in a frail condition after a fall then after discharge with a homecare package then re hospitalised with a UTI. I live overseas and am the only child but was back in Scotland for some months to help and find a way forward. Once I found Cathkin House - and that they had a room available - things turned a corner. My mum needed high care but did not have dementia - so that was a bit of a challenge to find a suitable place. My mum is of a feisty independent nature too. She has regained weight in the four months so far at Cathkin House and has been very positive about the staff, the kindness etc after I've had to go back home. Family/friends visit and give me feedback too. It's never a perfect world when in this situation but Cathkin House staff do an excellent job and both myself and my mum are grateful. They allow my mum to decide what she wants while being encouraging. The support services - including a twice a week gp who comes round - is great.

I am very happy. Its a nice place to be. The staff and management are all very nice and helpful. The food is very good and the atmosphere is very good. I feel very secure and safe in the care home.

Mum moved to Cathkin House from hospital. The home has a very good reputation in the community. Since moving, I have found the care to be excellent, the carers are so friendly and caring. Mum is very happy and has settled in well. Her room is warm, clean and comfortable and the support I have received from staff and management has been exemplary. I so appreciated the care given to mum by the fantastic team at Cathkin House.

The only issue we and mum have is the time taken to be taken to the toilet and how many times it has to be requested. This situation is not helped by the lack of sufficient number of transfer aids available to the care staff to have at their disposal, when it is very common for many residents who require this service and facility at the same time! The rest of the attention given to my mother is very good.

My mother settled in right away and say she could not be in a better place. She says the staff are all lovely and the food is very good. Five stars!

Over the last fortnight, staff and management have been excellent in caring and meeting my mother in laws needs. As a family, we were concerned about her lack of food intake. We discussed this with the assistant manager who immediately put a care plan in place reassuring us as a family. We also discussed the possibility of my mother in law attending a family wedding in the new year. Again we were happy to hear that this is possible and again the assistant manager said she will log it in the diary to ensure she attends this family wedding.

My mum became a resident on the 27th September 2024. She is settling in well. We as a family are delighted with the care home. We also have peace of mind knowing she is well cared for. Everyone in the home have been friendly, helpful etc. Could not wish for a better care home. She has everything she needs, i.e hairdresser, podiatrist, medical staff.

The staff are always welcoming and friendly, and always offer tea to guests. Everywhere is also very clean and residents are always attended to if they require any assistance. I have only seen the staff treat everyone with dignity and respect. Activities are arranged for residents regularly. Safety and Security are also paramount to staff with codes to access the building and log books to record visits - this is assuring to know residents' safety is always a priority.

Always greeted cheerfully by all the staff, without exception. Staff are good at using my mum's name and seem to know to give her sufficient time to respond. Appreciate the range of activities offered. Staff are very patient in dealing with my mum's restricted mobility.

From first impressions to each visit, we have been very pleased with all aspects of Cathkin House, in particular the welcoming and caring staff. My mum has settled in well, she is visibly being well cared for which is a tremendous relief knowing her needs. We must highlight the excellent management team who are caring and professional but have a personal touch too. Our family very much appreciates it, thank you.

5 stars for everything, cannot recommend it enough.

My mother-in-law has been in the care home for just under a year. She settled in from day one. The management and staff are really caring and work really hard to provide her daily needs. There is something different on every day, it could be bingo, board games and entertainers. The rooms are kept very clean and the food is great. We are kept up to date with the care she receives, doctor appointments, hairdressers and chiropodist appointments etc. We cannot recommend them enough they are all doing a great job. Well done to all the staff.

As a family we absolutely appreciate the love and care that goes into looking after our mum. The first time I walked in I felt a sense of peace and love and felt my mum would be happy here and we are right. The love and care she gets is second to none. Nothing is any bother and the staff go above and beyond their job to ensure the residents are lived and looked after.

The staff at my mum's care home are fabulous with her. She has dementia and struggles to be active but the staff seem to be able to include her in everything that is happening daily. Staff always keep me informed on how Mum is doing and are alway comforting and empathetic with her needs. I believe when a family member has dementia the whole family suffer with them but I am completely confident in Cathkin House care home staff and can’t thank them enough for taking great care of my mother.
