Cathkin House offers contemporary and homely facilities and quality care with a warm welcome. The skilled team provides expert nursing care for older people, some of whom are also living with mild dementia.

The purpose-built care home is warm and comfortable with spacious, en-suite bedrooms, several lounges for relaxing in or catching up with friends and loved ones. There is even a hair salon so residents can enjoy being pampered at any time.

The team holds regular meetings with residents to talk about upcoming activities and get everyone’s suggestions about new dishes to add to the menu. Monthly care reviews are also held with each resident and their family to ensure that the care Cathkin House delivers is in line with what they need and want.

other privately arranged healthcare. Should you require an escort to hospital appointments, we may apply
an agreed hourly charge for this service.

We were devastated that our dad couldn't return home after a fall. Finding the right care home was emotionally draining, most felt cold and dismissive, often telling us to "check the website" or "read the inspectorate report." Then we found Cathkin House, GAME CHANGER! From the 1st call, Mgmt and Admin
were warm, patient, and genuinely caring. They answered every question and gave us hope. The transition from hospital was seamless, and Dad's mood instantly lifted. Every staff member, from mgmt to housekeeping, treats him like family, always stopping for a chat or a laugh. His room is spotless and personalised with his own furniture, nothing was a problem, even the handyman helped with a smile. There are plenty of activities, and the occasional excursion, and so much joy. Communication is second to none, Mgmt even called during their own time. These people live and breathe care. We finally have peace of mind. Thankyou Cathkin House, when can I move in!

My mum was in a frail condition after a fall then after discharge with a homecare package then re hospitalised with a UTI. I live overseas and am the only child but was back in Scotland for some months to help and find a way forward. Once I found Cathkin House - and that they had a room available -
things turned a corner. My mum needed high care but did not have dementia - so that was a bit of a challenge to find a suitable place. My mum is of a feisty independent nature too. She has regained weight in the four months so far at Cathkin House and has been very positive about the staff, the kindness etc after I've had to go back home. Family/friends visit and give me feedback too. It's never a perfect world when in this situation but Cathkin House staff do an excellent job and both myself and my mum are grateful. They allow my mum to decide what she wants while being encouraging. The support services - including a twice a week gp who comes round - is great.

I am very happy. Its a nice place to be. The staff and management are all very nice and helpful. The food is very good and the atmosphere is very good. I feel very secure and safe in the care home.

Mum moved to Cathkin House from hospital. The home has a very good reputation in the community. Since moving, I have found the care to be excellent, the carers are so friendly and caring. Mum is very happy and has settled in well. Her room is warm, clean and comfortable and the support I have received
from staff and management has been exemplary. I so appreciated the care given to mum by the fantastic team at Cathkin House.

The only issue we and mum have is the time taken to be taken to the toilet and how many times it has to be requested. This situation is not helped by the lack of sufficient number of transfer aids available to the care staff to have at their disposal, when it is very common for many residents who require
this service and facility at the same time! The rest of the attention given to my mother is very good.

Over the last fortnight, staff and management have been excellent in caring and meeting my mother in laws needs. As a family, we were concerned about her lack of food intake. We discussed this with the assistant manager who immediately put a care plan in place reassuring us as a family. We also discussed
the possibility of my mother in law attending a family wedding in the new year. Again we were happy to hear that this is possible and again the assistant manager said she will log it in the diary to ensure she attends this family wedding.

My mum became a resident on the 27th September 2024. She is settling in well. We as a family are delighted with the care home. We also have peace of mind knowing she is well cared for. Mum was a resident from 2021 till she passed away recently.
The home is spotless. The staff are always cheery and helpful. They were kind and caring to Mum but also supportive to me and my family.
Mum was always treated with dignity and respect, with staff often going well beyond their remit to
ensure she was comfortable and happy
The care and compassion given to Mum in her last few days was exceptional. The professionalism of the staff outstanding. And my family and I truly appreciate the compassion and support shown to us at a difficult time.

The staff are always welcoming and friendly, and always offer tea to guests. Everywhere is also very clean and residents are always attended to if they require any assistance. I have only seen the staff treat everyone with dignity and respect. Activities are arranged for residents regularly. Safety
and Security are also paramount to staff with codes to access the building and log books to record visits - this is assuring to know residents' safety is always a priority.

Always greeted cheerfully by all the staff, without exception. Staff are good at using my mum's name and seem to know to give her sufficient time to respond. Appreciate the range of activities offered. Staff are very patient in dealing with my mum's restricted mobility.

My mum is in Cathkin House Care Home and I could not be any happier with the care that she is receiving.
The staff are absolutely wonderful and have the resident's best interests and care in mind at all times which is very comforting. They are so professional at their jobs and 'always' take the time
to speak to us when we are in. Nothing is a problem and for us as son\daughter, they have made it so easy for us, especially at the beginning which was a worrying and stressful time for us.
My mum is very happy there and as a family, we all agree that we could not have found a better home for her to live.
Words cannot express how appreciative we are of everything Cathkin House, it's an absolute gem.
Also, a special mention to the housekeeping staff, the care home is immaculate and again, not a visit goes by without them saying hello.
5 stars for everything, cannot recommend it enough.

My mother-in-law has been in the care home for just under a year. She settled in from day one. The management and staff are really caring and work really hard to provide her daily needs. There is something different on every day, it could be bingo, board games and entertainers. The rooms are kept very
clean and the food is great. We are kept up to date with the care she receives, doctor appointments, hairdressers and chiropodist appointments etc. We cannot recommend them enough they are all doing a great job. Well done to all the staff.

As a family we absolutely appreciate the love and care that goes into looking after our mum. The first time I walked in I felt a sense of peace and love and felt my mum would be happy here and we are right. The love and care she gets is second to none. Nothing is any bother and the staff go above and

The staff at my mum's care home are fabulous with her. She has dementia and struggles to be active but the staff seem to be able to include her in everything that is happening daily. Staff always keep me informed on how Mum is doing and are alway comforting and empathetic with her needs. I believe when
a family member has dementia the whole family suffer with them but I am completely confident in Cathkin House care home staff and can’t thank them enough for taking great care of my mother.

From the minute we viewed Cathkin and then met the staff, we knew it was the absolute the right place for our dad. We have been able to enjoy him and not worry about him - for the first time years, we know he is getting the best care possible. Four members of staff, in particular, what a fabulous job
you do for him, he is incredibly lucky to have access to such caring and considerate people. The home is clean, it doesn’t smell like a care home. It really is a home away from home and I will forever recommend it. 10/10.

Mum has been in the care home for approximately six weeks. Although it took her a few weeks to settle the staff and management have always been very attentive and available for family to talk too. Mum comments often how well-fed she is and how well she is taken care of. The change in her over the last
six weeks has been remarkable and she is very happy.

The place is tidy, smart and the staff and management are excellent. My wife has put on weight since she came in the home and her pain is managed very well. Care delivery has been excellent and the staff could not do enough for her.

I joined Cathkin House in February 2021 and I was encouraged to join Care UK as I had heard about the diversity of the company - the caring practice and the values of the company says everything.


I have been working in the care industry for 20 years now. I came to Scotland as a general registered nurse from Mauritius and with the support of my peers, I worked my way up the career ladder.


One of my biggest career highlights has been the awards I’ve won in my previous care homes. I’m proud to have won awards within the company, a Scottish care award as well as a community award for the care delivery in my home and engagement with the community.


As a home manager, you need to be a good listener, patient and compassionate towards both your residents and staff. I believe you lead by example rather than being the boss.
