My mother has been in Croftbank for three and a half years and I am very happy with the care she receives. Her condition has changed and the staff always keep me informed and consulted me about any changes they think would be good for her. They always phone if my mum has had any issues or is upset and
requires any extra visits from me. All the staff including care, kitchen, laundry and activities are very friendly and like relatives to speak to them, helping them to place residents with relatives. There are activities on every day and special occasions where relatives are encouraged to join in with bingo nights, party nights like Halloween, Easter and Christmas, where we have a great time with all the residents who are fit enough to attend. Relatives meetings are held every three months so we can be kept up to date with things that are going on. More relatives need to attend these meetings, as they concern them and their relatives, as we are encouraged at these meetings to give any ideas or concerns too.

Majority of staff are good but there are some individuals who should not be in this role. There is clearly a staff shortage. Delays in answering buzzers. This isn't acceptable when someone needs the toilet.
More routine at bedtimes. During the day she seems to be left sitting in the lounge on her wheelchair
which isn't comfortable for her. There are no points of contact for us. You don't know who to speak to about something or are given regular updates. It really depends on who you speak to if things are done. One nurse has been excellent who arranged a 24hour turnaround for her hearing aid repair. Other promises of doctors visit about her eyes have never come to fruition. There should be a monthly update with a point of contact to discuss what's going well and any concerns. Mum has said the food is excellent and she is showered regularly and her hygiene is clearly being looked after. I know this sounds negative but the reputation for this home hadn't lived up to our expectations

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.091)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.091) out of 10 for Croftbank House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 12 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.507 for Croftbank House is calculated as follows: ( (104 Excellents x 5) + (24 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) + (4 Poors x 2) + (7 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 142 Ratings = 4.507
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.584 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Croftbank House is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 = 3.775
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 68 registered maximum number of service users is 13.6. 11 Positive Reviews ÷ 13.6 = 0.809
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
