Had an absolutely amazing experience visiting my friend (for the first time since she moved here) yesterday. The staff are all wonderful and genuinely caring. Service users' needs are everyone's main priority. Beautiful home and very high standard of cleanliness. Every member of staff is very professional.

What a frightening 6-weeks it has been, but made better with the support of the amazing staff at Antiquary who have been patient with my dad (who now lives in the home), and so supportive of my mum - who now lives alone. When my dad first relocated to the care home, it was frightening for us all, but the staff took us all under their wing and walked us through every step of the process.

There have been a few stumbling blocks but I would encourage everyone to ask questions if you have any queries. The one issue I had was, that my dad has dementia and was telling me things he "believed" was not happening, when in fact they were. Communication with staff and management is so very important to keep things straight. Thank you all so much for changing our lives for the better.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write your review, especially with the naturally worrying time you have had as your dad joined Balhousie Antiquary. We're so pleased to know, that not only your dad, but you and your family, have been thoroughly supported and cared for as expected. We will pass on your thanks to the team.

No problems at all with the home, the facilities, and especially the staff. The Standard of care is excellent, and the general atmosphere is happy and upbeat (unlike one or two other homes that I have had connections within the recent past)... keep up the good work.

Our overall experience with Antiquary Care Home has been very positive. Dad has been there for nearly 2-years, he entered the home during Covid, and we have been very grateful for the care that has been given to him. Nothing ever is a bother to the manager and her staff. Dad has been happy, comfortable and well-fed!

Has been a very positive move from another care home. The staff are very friendly and do a lot to make the resident's days cheerful and packed with lots of activities. Lots of pictures on their web page most days.

Overall Experience

My mother was transferred to Antiquary from a local hospital unit after a full assessment process. Despite that, within a week the staff requested that she was moved back to the hospital because of her (dementia-related) behaviours and needs. That is, of course, understandable. What was less acceptable was that no one updated her family of the home's growing concerns over that week, either by phone or when we visited. We were only advised of the move to the hospital by the council's social care department - with one day's notice. To add to my dis-satisfaction, my calls to the home for some information were not returned for another week, and even then only after I called the Balhousie Head Office. Antiquary looked to be a super choice for my Mum's needs. It appeared very welcoming and all the staff I met were friendly and attentive. My experience, however, suggest a weak needs assessment process and an absence of the simple courtesy of consulting with residents' families.

My mother-in-law moved into Balhousie Antiquary Care Home last August in the midst of Covid-19. What can we say - she has settled in so well, she’s thriving and happy. The staff made it so easy for us to move her in, when we phone they are always helpful and informative as to how she’s doing. There’s always loads going on for the residents to do. At Christmas and New Year the staff went above and beyond to make it special as family couldn’t visit. Just wish we’d done it sooner. Highly recommend Antiquary.

I live in the Southwest of England and so far have been unable to visit Mum due to the restrictions so have no first-hand knowledge of the home or staff. I rely on my sister and brother-in-law who are the main points of contact. Having said that, what better review is there than for all of the residents and staff to be Covid-19 free. Social media is great to see all that is going on and that mum is participating. Thanks to all of the staff.

My nanna has been a resident of this home for a few years, the staff have always been welcoming and friendly on my visits. My nanna appears to have come in leaps and bounds since being here and I wholeheartedly put this down to the care and attention she receives by all at the Balhousie Antiquary Care Home.
I have no worries in terms of the care she is receiving and would highly recommend this home to others.

I cannot thank the staff enough for what they do for my nanna and all the other residents.

Both parents are now residents and require nursing support. From the initial phone call requesting information to moving in and ongoing care, the staff has been excellent. Very good at updates on medical condition and care needs, also frequent contact with own GP when changes are required. Parents really happy with staff responsible for personal care on daily basis.

My mum has been in care for a short time but cannot thank the staff and manager for everything they have done for my mum so far as she has settled in very well. Most of the time my mum being in the care home has been in lockdown it's been so hard for everyone but the staff have been amazing keeping them all safe and well.

My mum has been a resident for less than a year, a lot of that time under lockdown. We cannot praise the staff enough for their enthusiasm, care and support through these challenging times. The home is bright, cheerful and welcoming. We live quite a distance away and visiting is limited, so the introduction of the Facebook page has been an excellent way to keep in touch and get a sense of the environment. Our thanks to all the staff.

From the first time the manager came to do an assessment, we felt confident in the care my father would receive. Although my father was only a resident for a short time the care was professional and given in a friendly and dignified manner. All the staff were attentive - this included nurses, carers and ancillary staff. They made my father and his visitors feel welcome.

We felt extremely comfortable leaving him in the care of the home.

The care provided at Antiquary Care Home was excellent. We met with the Manager. He was so clear about the care they provide for each resident that we were very impressed. His team delivered the type of personal care he described at all times. The ladies who came in to offer cups of tea were so friendly and welcoming. The nursing staff were vigilant and compassionate. Thank you to all.

Our experience of Antiquary in the care they provided for my mother was excellent. Mum's stay was a short one, but she was welcomed into the home and quickly settled in. When she was in her last few weeks and end of life care the staff were just marvellous.

I didn't even know about the respite flats at Antiquary and I was greatly surprised. The staff were amazing and I felt so peacefully looked after and safe here, I would come back here anytime. Having care on call is amazing as you still have independence to go about and have visitors. The food was lovely, I cannot fault in any way.

You are treated as one of the family in a warm and cosy environment. There are plenty of activities that you may join in with and are encouraged to do so. The rooms are warm, spacious and all fitted with ensuite. Visitors are invited to visit you in your surroundings. The menu is varied and optional choice is there on each serving. You want for nothing and special diets will be catered for. The home has a lively entertainment programme encompassing a wide variety of choice. The staff are brilliant and will endeavour to sort out your request immediately. A good home from home all down to the excellent manager and staff.
