Overall Experience

The Benholm Care Home provides excellent accommodation in a warm and homely environment. Staff and management ensure all residents are treated as individuals - with respect and consideration, protecting their dignity always. Benholm is extending its activities programme, which includes flower arranging, baking for afternoon tea, arts and crafts, reminiscence groups. Excellent effort by all staff and enjoyed by many residents, of all abilities. Friends and family are always made welcome.

Overall Experience

My husband was a resident from 17 Aug 2018 to June 2019 when he passed away. The care my husband received was amazing, when he reached end of life, palliative care was excellent, professional, very caring 24 hours, also the care I received was amazing and also for all the family ie. 3 daughters, 3 son-in-laws, plus eight grandchildren, nothing was too much bother for all staff, plus lots of hugs.

Overall Experience
My mum had a short stay (6 days) in Benholm Care Home earlier this year. Sadly with existing poor health, symptoms of her debilitating illness advanced quickly.
Gratitude to those members of the care team who were perceptive and sensitive in addressing her health care needs in end of life care.

Compassion, dignity and respect are values that mean so much to patients and their loved ones.

My father was in this care home for 8 1/2 months. He was well cared for and his dignity was considered very important. As he became more ill, the care level increased - as a family we were confident that he was in excellent hands. Any medical issues were quickly dealt with and a GP or practise nurse was called in.

Review from M P (Daughter-in-law of Resident) published on 24 January 2018 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience
Mainly reasonably good, but I don't like visiting after work and my mother in law still wearing her cereal!
My mother in law would like a weekly bath, she says one shower since admission on 8th November 2017 but I don't know if this is true or untrue?
My mother in law says her teeth are not always out at night, her gums are sore, I think this is probably true.
Lack of stimulation - the TV is on most of the time, but usually no one is watching.

More music, physio and activities.

Our experience despite being palliative care with the last few weeks has been positive, nurturing and supportive. This has been the experience of the entire family. The entire team have anticipated and genuinely cared for my husband and father and our whole families needs. Palliative care superb!

Professionalism and values displayed and demonstrated are of the highest standard. This could be shared with any team.

Mum had a shaky start probably due to her illness but with reassurance, she regained her confidence. She feels safe with the staff and her surroundings. Her new home is warm and comfortable and she looks forward to a Wednesday afternoon when an entertainer comes to play the accordion. When visiting Mum she is always neat and tidy. She has her hair done by a visiting hairdresser.

My dad has been in Benholm Care Home for over two years now. He settled in very quickly. The staff are amazing and take very good care of him. Communication is good and they always phone to keep me up to date. The home is well maintained and kept clean and fresh. The food is good and dad seems to enjoy it and I am always made welcome with a cuppa! The activities are varied and all residents are encouraged to take part. There is outside space for the residents to enjoy during the summer months and the home is very spacious and welcoming inside. It is a home from home for my dad!
