They keep dad well hydrated and fed ,food choice could be a bit better done menu wise but it always looks appetising. Great choice of activities go on my Dad was on the tri bikes which he highly enjoyed.

The staff at Ochil Care Home have been so supportive as we moved mum to their lovely home. They were so reassuring and have been doing all they can to help mum settle in. It's never easy when a family has to take the final option of moving a loved one into care but all the staff at Ochil have made things a whole lot less stressful.

My wife was admitted to Ochil Care Home and to Memory Lane. My daughter & myself visited all care homes in Perth before deciding on Ochil. Although more expensive that others we have no regrets in our choice. The standard of care and facilities are extremely good. Residents families and visitors are made welcome. Individual rooms can be decorated with residents personal items and the feel of the home is so homely and well maintained.

In general a nice, warm, inviting home, well spaced out, clean, tidy, friendly staff. The day room is well presented and laid out. More staff would be useful because on several occasions the resident has had to wait a length of time to be seen to. The meals could be more appetising and plentiful. On majority of leaving night visits, there isn't any staff to be seen. Is there a night manager/supervisor ?

While undergoing an operation recently I needed to find respite care for my husband. Having viewed several care homes in the Perth area I finally found the perfect place in Ochil Care Home. From the moment I met the Manager and a few of the staff I knew my husband would be well cared for. We had a very in depth home visit from a member of Ochil staff before finalising the respite care.

It's quite obviously not "just a job" for the staff as they made my husband (who is a double leg amputee and is also registered blind) feel totally at home. Although I wasn't able to take him home for 3 weeks after my operation I visited him nearly every day and he was obviously being well cared for and thoroughly enjoying the food. The staff from the cook to the care staff all came and introduced themselves to me and discussed all aspects of care from food likes and dislikes to moving my husband the way he was accustomed to which made all the difference to his confidence and comfort. Thank you team.

We have no issues with the care my mother is receiving. She is encouraged to join in activities if she wants but otherwise is left to do things in her own time. Food quality is good and varied and the entire place is spotlessly clean.

I am very happy with the team at Barchester. My dad has lived with them for around 6 months now and his general health has improved with their care. The administration team are always responsive to requests and will facilitate appointments etc.
The nurses in charge are well aware of his medical and care needs and seek my opinion. The individual carers know him to differing degrees and as he has communication issues it is a slow business learning his likes and dislikes but those that see him regularly are getting to know him and will engage about his past hobbies etc.
The activities team pay attention to him and have worked to engage him.
The food seems well to my dad's liking - he is independent in eating and enjoys his food. I dislike it when he gets given plastic cups or lidded cups which he does not require.

The main thing I would change would be a way for me to have more regular information. My father cannot talk on the phone and some form of update by an app would be great.

My sister moved to Ochil in July 2009 along with five other fellow residents from another place, due to the closure of that unit. I was initially apprehensive about the move as my sister was unable to verbally communicate but my concerns were soon allayed. Over the 14 years my sister resided in Ochil, I observed that all staff; administrators, nursing, and care team members, appeared to know my sister and were very kind and helpful. They always showed kindness and were attentive and caring to all residents. A special thank you to all staff in Glendevon for their care of the current and former residents.

My dad moved to Memory Lane at Ochil just last month from another local Care Home. Both my sister and I were concerned about the move as we were not sure how Dad would settle in. We spoke with the manager at length and she gave us peace of mind that we were doing the right thing and she would make sure he was well looked after. The manager was absolutely right, Dad settled from day one as the staff made a real fuss of him and continued to do so. The staff are amazing with Dad and he already regards them as his friends. The staff also make a point of calling his regular visitors by our first names. This has been a great move for Dad and we can rest assured he is getting the best of care.

My dad has been at Ochil since December 2019. Having had a very unsettled year prior to moving here, I was apprehensive about how the move would be for him. The staff quickly got to know him and were able to settle him. It was a huge weight lifted for me as I knew he was being well cared for.
Ochil is a large care home and that did concern me a little when viewing. However, due to the separate units and same staff based at those units, I needn't have worried. There are staff who have been there for many years, which is great as they get to know the residents well and more importantly the residents and their families get to know them. Any concerns/issues I've raised with staff on the unit or the manager have been resolved quickly.

The staff are friendly and welcoming and will usually let me know how my dad has been and if he's eating ok. I trust they will always call me if they have a concern about him.

With Alzheimer's advancing over five years, I was very concerned about the sudden change which had to be made from caring for my wife at home and acquiring professional care in a care home. My wife was assessed by a senior member of your staff at home and we finally decided it had to be the "big change". Your staff were excellent, encouraging us to customise her room. Five weeks have now passed and my wife has fully accepted Barchester Ochil Care Home as her new home - none of the feared problems. The facilities are excellent and the staff most helpful. All in all, the whole family can now breathe a sigh of relief.

My husband moved into Memory Lane, the dementia unit in Barchester Ochil Care Home, in May 2021 and has been very well looked after there since then!
His challenging behaviour meant it was difficult to find a care home that would meet his needs and I was apprehensive about his move to Ochil, especially as a previous move to another home had failed. But he settled in surprisingly quickly and continues to be happy and contented there.
The home is spacious and there is plenty of room for him to walk about which is important to him. It is always very clean and tidy and well-appointed.
The staff are efficient, hardworking, friendly and caring and also very considerate to me. I am always made to feel welcome. There is always a good atmosphere on the unit with plenty of smiles and laughter!
The manager and admin staff are very helpful and I am always told about any changes or concerns.

It gives me real peace of mind to know he is so well cared for and treated with understanding and dignity at all times.

My wife was admitted to Barchester Ochil Care Home in August 2022 and lived there until her death in July 2023.
The home stands in attractive gardens. It is spacious and well appointed inside and is always kept immaculately clean and tidy and in addition provides a full and varied programme of activities for residents.
The meals provided were delicious and nutritious.
The care she received was always first-class and delivered with the greatest care and professionalism.

I visited regularly and was always welcomed warmly and updated about her condition.

Mum moved to Ochil Care Home following a short stay at another care home.
We were immediately made to feel comfortable and at ease and Mum settled in very quickly.
The care home itself is modern and well-appointed.
The staff are competent and friendly and it was clear that they genuinely had Mum’s best interests at heart. I felt that Mum got the best care possible during her stay at Ochil.

Mum only left Ochil for the convenience of another unit in our home town.

Mum embraced her move to Ochil in April 2022. The regular nurse and carers in her pod welcomed her and made her feel at home. Those same people would provide kind and loving nursing care at end of life a year later, for which my brother and I are very grateful.
Mum flourished during this, her last year. Her quality of life improved. She loved the activities (though not all activities listed took place).
Mum enjoyed the food. Breakfast in her room and sharing lunch and dinner in the dining room where she made friends. (I sometimes had to remind staff that I wanted Mum to go to the dining room).
The nurse and carers got to know Mum. In the most, they seemed to understand her, her quirks and her needs! I liked when one carer outlined clearly to me what she wanted me to bring in for my mum.
There needs to be an assigned point of contact for relatives.
The front door needs key code entry system.

Looking back, my advice to another relative would be to let go of what’s not so important. Not easy!

My mother was admitted to Ochil after very difficult family dysfunction and very unpleasant dealings with Social Work in Perth.
I had extensive travel to visit my mother and the whole process was very stressful.
The Manager was very supportive of me and my mother with the challenges we faced. She was impartial as best she could and the staff were very caring and understanding towards my Mum.
The staff work in a very challenging environment often short-staffed due to CoVid but they always did their best to provide care for Mum. I’m a Nurse so I understand it’s not easy, especially with family and acquaintances causing unnecessary added stress. The staff were always supportive.
My Mum passed away in January 2023, the staff were lovely and I was able to spend those last few hours with her privately.

My only complaint was the quality of the food over the years, it was very poor. Sorry, but I do think it could be better.

Dad was admitted to Ochil in February 2020, just prior to the pandemic. We were able to visit in his room and in the lounge area until lockdown happened. Thereafter there was a visiting pod and the garden. All the staff without exception were wonderful to dad. He wasn’t an easy man, wasn’t P.C. and as he had dementia he’s moods were unpredictable. Still, they took such good care of him. He had haircuts, was kept clean and tidy and put on weight. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Barchester if all the sites are like Perth.

My mother was moved to Ochil home after a three-month spell in hospital. After talking to several people who knew of Ochil and a visit to look around the home, we decided this was the place for Mum's care and well being. Am I glad we chose this home! Obviously, it has been a difficult time for the staff and residents with Covid for the last two years, but the safety measures put in place, and the updates we received from the home were great. We are kept up to date with Mum's health, and she is taken care of, with visits to the hospital and dental appointments, whatever is required. Activities with Covid were quiet for a while, but things are picking up now, and they have an extensive list of activities that has something for everybody. I can not say thank you enough to the manager, the nursing staff, carers and everyone involved in the care of our Mum.
