Personal care - not washed hands and nails dirty. Room items left lying on the floor, clothes (wrong size) needed to wear large size which are in the wardrobe due to steroids use.
Clothes not hung up properly in the wardrobe, all wrinkled and double creased.
Kindly asked for Mum's phone to be charged
in order to contact. The nurse in charge said the kitchen didn't bother. No tea given at all between lunch and dinner Saturday 14th April

I visit my mother normally twice each week.
Recently the home has been refurbished and now is much brighter with light coloured walls and doors.
This is much improved from the dark furnishings previously.
Mother has been here for several years now and gets good care.
The staff are always pleasant
and helpful.
The entertainment group today were excellent.
Everyone enjoyed the lively music and staff joined in the dancing.

I never wanted to be in a home. I now know I couldn't do without it as I couldn't carry a glass of water. It is home to me now and I am very grateful for the help of the staff, they couldn't be kinder. Thank you.

I cannot praise all the Staff at Kintullagh Nursing Home enough for the marvelous care that is being given to my Mother is now a permanent resident there. The friendly, warm & happy atmosphere within K.N.H put my Mother at ease immediately & she has settled in extremely well. All my Mothers needs are
met to the highest standard & in her own words, 'all the staff are so lovely & she feels safe, well cared for & very feels very happy there with nothing ever being too much trouble for them.' She enjoys the variety of activities & has made new friends. I see a vast improvement in my Mother both mentally & physically since becoming a resident there & the fact that she is so happy & content at Kintullagh House gives me great peace of mind which is priceless!!!

Current Review Score: 8.0 (8.019)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.0 (8.019) out of 10 for Kintullagh House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.3 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.7 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.316 for Kintullagh House is calculated as follows: ( (45 Excellents x 5) + (2 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (8 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 57 Ratings = 4.316
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.703 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Kintullagh House is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 61 registered maximum number of service users is 12.2. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 12.2 = 0.328
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
