Overall Experience
My mother, following a serious fall moved to Comber Care Home in Jan 25. It became evident quickly that she would be unable to return home. Her own and the family's experience was extremely positive. The home has a welcoming atmosphere. The upstairs staff team provided excellent care to mum for 16 months until she died.

Their upset spoke volumes about the relationship they all had with mum. A huge thank you.

The staff have gone above and beyond in looking after my uncle, and in particular the manager (or lead nurse) of the home. I was always informed on my uncles condition if he had an infection and it was always dealt with promptly and efficiently. My uncle could sometimes be awkward but they always dealt with him with absolute professionalism. Cannot thank them enough as he is now in end stage life.

A very thorough experience and staff were attentive, dedicated to their duties and those in their care. I can testify to the excellent care my mother received throughout her tow years in Comber from not only the staff responsible for her daily care, but the administrative support from Laura in the office and Michelle (manager). Anything less than excellent belows bears only to my mums specific circumstance with her sight and hearing which placed her at a disadvantage.

My aunt found it extremely challenging being in a nursing home due to the lack of independence she was experiencing. The staff did their best to care for her and support her needs. However, my aunt was a strict vegetarian, the home were generally unable to provide suitable meals for her. We discovered that a product classified as 'ice cream' contained pork gelatine. This was very inappropriate for her. We had to buy the majority of her main meals.

Dad sadly had to go into a care home due to ill health. Initiall Dad was cared for by the hospital home team in Comber Care Home and we were impressed by the professionalism and caring nature of the staff, therefore when it was clear that Dad could no longer live at home his family made the decision to keep Dad in Comber Care Home despite other care homes being closer to family. The nursing staff and carers take a real interest in Dad and are very friendly and helpful.

My aunt was placed in Comber Care Home in Nov 2025 for rehabilitation after a long stay in hospital. She settled very quickly with the help of the staff who welcomed her and made her feel comfortable. My aunt was treated with dignity and respect and enjoyed getting to know the staff. It puts family's mind at ease when your relative is being cared for and that they have really enjoyed being here. Thank you.

During my mother's recent decline in health I feel that all the staff have been excellent. They have treated my mum with dignity and respect. Going to the home is not just like visiting my mum but visiting the whole family. The love and care given is not taken for granted and I know my mother is in good hands.

My uncle seems to be happy enough in Comber Care Home and so are we and he talks away to the girls who are more than helpful and friendly. He really enjoys the food as well. There is always someone in the office to discuss any problems.

Overall Experience

My cousin has been a resident in Comber Care Home for 2 years. I visit at least wice weekly. I always find the home spotless & smelling so fresh, staff are approachable and courteous, always have a smile and a kindly word for me. Nursing staff always inform me of Dr/Nurse visits and of any changes to medication etc. The activity coordinators do a fantastic job with such varied activities and entertainment. I can only applaud the staff on the overall care given. My cousin saying 'Comber Care Home is my home now' means a lot as she feels happy and secure.

I regularly vist my brother who is a long term resident. He has been bedbound for almost four years, so understandably can be difficult at times to deal with as he's in a lot of pain. The staff working with him couldn't be praised high enough doing a thankless job.

On visiting my auntie, I always found the staff friendly and helpful. They appeared very busy, but still had enough time for visitor chats. On the night my auntie passed away the staff kept in touch with me and called me down to the home to be with her at the end which I really appreciated. The staff were very attentive that night, offered us tea and biscuits. Nothing was a problem which made the whole process easier, I couldn't thank them enough.

Mum moved into Comber Care Home after long stay in hospital. She was run down and had been in bed for months. The staff got mum up and out of bed and got her hair done, she is well fed and looking amazing! It's like a miracle! She's getting properly looked after by such caring, happy kind staff - they all smile and make mum feel safe. We are so pleased after all the worry that mum is in a great place! Thank you!

I am so delighted to complete this review of the Comber Care Home. My mother has been a resident for 9 months and she is very content and happy due to the caring staff who attend to her needs on a daily basis. The staff give 100% effort everyday. Nothing is too much trouble. Always have a smile even if they are short staffed. The home is cleaned daily and a thank you to the service staff for the maintenance of TV's and heating. The entertainment activities at Christmas were brilliant. Thank you all for making life worthwhile.

Placed here for rehab - initially 8 weeks. Ended more like 14 weeks. 2 broken legs. One badly damaged knee, which took a long time to recover.

Staff outstanding 5 star rating. Care excellent. Food variable at best. As a trust founded, I cannot answer value for money.
