I don't have much to say. But tell you the truth it's a very good home. The staff are very good I don't have to worry about anything, I only hate the level 4 food I don't know if I am eating fish or meat. I have bowel cancer at the moment I am losing the desire to eat. But I am happy for my life is
in the hands of my Lord Jesus and God and they are looking after me, I would like to thank you for good care home.

The family couldn't have asked for any better care in the 4-weeks she was here. The staff were incredible with her, and very attentive to her names. Not only did they look after her but kept us very informed of all that was happening. Would highly recommend it to anyone.

We couldn't ask for better care of our grandmother. Always good communication, and wonderfully warm, caring, happy and professional staff.
The home itself has the best facilities and hotel services - being clean, warm and serving good, nutritious food with plenty of variety.
No corners are cut in

Staff are wonderfully helpful and made my father feel very welcome, good communication and very thoughtful at all times. My father enjoyed the food and the care was excellent, nothing was too much trouble and we were sorry to have to move him closer to home. The kindness and professionalism were remarkable
and the staff genuinely cared for the family too, very important at a time when it's difficult not to be able to visit normally.

Our 89-year-old father was transferred from the hospital to Comber Care Home in early January as an NHS patient for rehabilitation after Covid-19. The family live outside the area, so we knew nothing about the home and staff. As Covid restrictions limited our contact, we were naturally apprehensive.
After almost nine weeks of excellent, professional and extremely kind care from all the staff, our father and family are very happy to recommend Comber Care Home. The staff have been wonderful. Management, maintenance staff, domestic assistants, care assistants, and nursing staff have all played a part in making his stay as good as it possibly could be. Sadly Dad needs to remain in nursing care, we are transferring him closer to home to facilitate easier visits post-Covid restrictions. If we could have brought Comber Care Home up the road to us, we would happily have kept Dad there! We will always be grateful that Dad was so well cared for at such a difficult time in his life.

My father was sent to Comber Care Home from taking really sick in hospital. We weren't sure about putting him into a care home in October we were all very anxious as we knew he would miss my mum and being at home, but I have to say the staff have been amazing and they have made my dad part of their
family, he is well looked after and we know he is safe. The staff go above and beyond.
They are all so lovely. The home have kept my dad safe during covid which has been really hard for us all but they have a Facebook page which is private for the families so we can see what they are doing throughout the week. My family loves to see the photos and events they do with my dad and he always looks so happy. If there is anything they think we need to know about my dad they are straight on the phone keeping us up to date. Thank you to all the staff from our family.

After bad press/media Care homes were receiving I was very hesitant at the start. Had I made the best possible choice for my father? The answer was yes. My family are overjoyed with the quality of and nature of care he receives. The dedication, professionalism and humanity of all the staff makes us
more relaxed with my choice. He's happy, safe, well-fed and his health has improved from leaving hospital and entering Care home. We are so blessed to have these guys and helps my Mum feel more at ease as they've never been apart.

Staff were very good. However, my 94-year-old mother had a fall in the home and was admitted to the hospital. From that point, we had no enquiries as to her wellbeing. She died four days later and as yet we have had no contact or expression of condolence for one of their former residents. Very disappointing.
Reply from Olivia Shields, Marketing Assistant at Comber Care HomeThank you for your feedback. We appreciate you taking the time to share your views. We are very sorry to hear about your Mother and can only apologise for not contacting you sooner at this difficult time. We have taken your comments on board and will make sure that this does not happen in the future. Once again, we sincerely apologise. If there is anything more we can do, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at the home. Thank you once again, take care.

An outstanding group of carers, nurses, caterers and assistants offering unending dedication in their work.
Unlike a hospital, medication was made available immediately on request and every requirement of which there were many were attended to promptly, pleasantly and professionally.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.592)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.592) out of 10 for Comber Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 24 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.592 for Comber Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (184 Excellents x 5) + (75 Goods x 4) + (16 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 277 Ratings = 4.592
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Comber Care Home is based on 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 72 registered maximum number of service users is 14.4, which has been reached with 24 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
