I have worked in two nursing homes in the past but neither had the dedication and compassion from their staff that Marina Care Home has. The care my mother has received and the genuine affection shown to her has been second to none. I would definitely recommend this care home to anyone. In fact, a friend
has admitted her father here on my recommendation.

My mother has been in the Marina Care Home for a year and a half. All the staff are so friendly and caring. The residents and staff were tested recently for coronavirus and all results came back clear. The staff have excelled themselves and deserve so much credit.

My mother is staying in this care home for the past year. She has been looked after extremely well and my family has been treated with the most kindness. Staff can raise the same for us all and make us welcome every time we come to the door. I could have taken my mother out of this home but she was
looked after like the girl's own mother. Excellent, made me happy to see that. A great place. Recommend it to anybody who would need it.

My sister is happy with the care she receives and I am impressed by the manner in which the staff relate to her. When she came into the home from hospital she had bad bedsores and was on a high dose of medication. The staff ensured the wounds were healed and the medication was reduced which resulted
in an overall improvement in her health and well-being.

The care my mother got in this home was excellent. The caring and cleanliness were like I gave her at home. Food excellent as well as the girls, all of them (and the male carers), cleaners, nurses, receptionists. There was no problem too big if you were unhappy about anything.

I have visited twice this year. I have been impressed by the friendliness of the staff and their interaction with both service users and visitors. They are attentive and engaged with those they care for and have a nice personal touch with an element of humour. A nice, relaxed, homely atmosphere.

The staff are kind, friendly, supportive and ready to listen to my concerns should they arrive. As my husband has deteriorated they take extra care with him. They call in health support teams or doctors when needed. They always keep me informed which is important to me as my husband can no longer speak.
They go the extra way to do little things like making a Valentine's card with my husband's picture on it for me, which I shall always treasure.

My mother has resided at Marina Care Home for almost 2 years now and I would recommend this home to anyone as my experiences have only been good ones - lovely, caring staff, really clean environment and a high standard of resident care and support. Nothing is any trouble with any member of staff - they
can't do enough which leaves a readily pleasant atmosphere within the home.

Very pleasant staff who are pleased to talk frankly about the condition of residents. They are very friendly and co-operate when we arrive to visit and are ready to accommodate us as to where we wanted to see my sister.
The home is kept very neat and clean - it smells so fresh at all my visits.

My mother-in-law has been a resident in Marina Care Home since May 2016. She has settled in extremely well and is made to feel a part of a large family (she is in her 92nd year she enjoys the activities which takes place on a regular basis. She especially enjoyed the bean bag activity where a number
of bean bags are thrown onto a mat marked with numbers. She came second and was chuffed to bits. A warm welcome is always given to family members no matter what time of the day/night they visit. Nursing skills (day/night) extremely important and Marina Care Home provides a highly trained and wonderful team.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.622)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.622) out of 10 for Marina Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 11 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.847 for Marina Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (112 Excellents x 5) + (18 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 131 Ratings = 4.847
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.775 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Marina Care Home is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 = 3.775
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 32 registered maximum number of service users is 6.4, which has been reached with 11 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
