Gedling Village Care Home is a purpose built 3-story building, with en-suite bedrooms and double bedrooms available for couples. The home is split into three communities; Orchid Suite, Forget Me Not Suite and Lavender Suite, all of which have lounge and dining facilities.

Residents moving into Gedling Village Care Home are encouraged to personalise their own bedrooms, bringing in possessions, photos, pieces of furniture, etc., to create a homely atmosphere.

Nutrition and fluids are offered to all residents daily, with a choice of three meal options and various snacks and light bite options during the day and evening, from a fully stocked drinks and snacks trolley that is taken around the home during the day and evening by staff. Residents and visitors can request food/snacks and drink at any time of the day or night.

The home has a variety of Activities throughout the day, and celebrates notable events in the calendar, encouraging friends and family to take part. From Valentine's dinners and Easter Fairs to Elf Day and visits from Santa, there is always something to look forward to. There is also a stay and play group for little ones for therapy for residents with Dementia.

A nice calming place - doesn't feel like a care home. Everything is spotlessly clean all the time. All staff are very friendly, polite and extremely helpful to residents and family. We would like to thank everyone for their constant care and concern to all the family.

My mum was in the Gedling Village Care Home from December 2022 to May 2023, when she sadly passed away. The management have the most amazing team onboard, they helped Mum keep her dignity and nothing was too much trouble. They did loads of activities with Mum, her cleanliness was so very good and the
food was amazing. I can't praise the staff enough, they are so kind and supportive, they listen and were wonderful with me and my sister. Theyy are just the most excellent place and team.

Mum had mixed dementia and went to the care home in December 2022, until May 2023 when she died from her vascular dementia. The care that my mum received was outstanding from the manager down to the housekeeping staff. Everyone went above and beyond to not only care for Mum but also to care for myself
and my sister. We felt that we had been included in a wonderful family unit. We cannot thank everyone enough for their love and support. Mum could not have been in a better place at the end of her life.

The staff at Gelding Village Care Home are quite simply amazing. Both my parents resided there and their care was outstanding. My mother is still a resident, but sadly, my father passed away there a week ago. My brother and I stayed with Dad for the last night of his life and the night staff literally
kept us going. Afterwards, the love and care all the staff displayed towards both Mum and Dad, was incredible. I would recommend Gelding Village Care Home to anyone, with the highest of accolades.

My first experience visiting a care home to see my wife was a very good experience. Over the past 7 months I can see how caring all of the staff are. The home itself is always very clean, the meals are varied to suit all tastes. I am very pleased how my wife is cared for there is plenty of entertainment
including sing-along and movies to watch on the large TV.
I can recommend the care home with 5 stars.

Mum-in-law arrived on 1st July 2022 and the manager made sure all Mum's observations were taken ad medical history. We were made very welcome and the manager and staff were very thorough. mum has improved since arriving and the staff are encouraged to walk aided for small distances. She loves the activities.

Having visited Mum several times in November, I have been very pleased with the care and attention she has received from all of the staff. I have been kept up to date with her medical/health condition and have always been treated with respect (as has she). There are some very caring and capable new
staff joining the team, and I have felt reassured that she feels part of "their" family during the times that I cannot visit (especially river the time of the pandemic lockdowns, etc). Thank you!

Under very difficult circumstances this year the staff & management have coped extremely well.
Staff are very friendly, helpful and caring.
Unfortunately Mum passed away in October, but she had good banter with the staff especially when they were dressing her whether it was in the morning or ready
for bed.
The staff always made you welcome and made the time to say a few words with you and the great-grandchild when they visited her especially when they came away with chocolate.

My Dad passed away on 15th December 2020 at Gedling Village Care Home. Our family would like to thank all the staff that were involved in caring for Dad. They have gone above and beyond the call of duty. The care and kindness they have shown him and our family while he has been there have been wonderful.

My wonderful husband was living in Gedling Village Care Home for just over 2 years and the time he spent there was wonderful. Brilliant care staff all very friendly and caring, I spent many happy hours there getting to know staff and residents and doing my best to make my husband happy, all the lovely
events which were put on for the residents were lovely from cake making, games, singing and lots of other activities, there were days out to visit garden centres, boat trips, trips to the pantomime etc all done with lots of loving care. All the amazing food cooked by wonderful kitchen staff many a time I have enjoyed a meal. It was sad when my husband passed away but during that time everyone went out of their way to give me support and love I will never forget. Keep up the good work all your lovely staff.

Mum moved to Gedling Village in September 2018, just over two years ago. The standard of care then was good and now I believe it to be outstanding. Mum has received all the care, support and medical care you would expect and much more than that.
The carers and managers who came to know my mum grew
to love her for her polite nature and warm good humour. The current manager and a carer who knew mum well, along with the previous deputy manager who also knew mum well, all came to mum's funeral and spoke knowledgeably and warmly about her.
They all worked very hard to create a new home for mum and I know she was contented, relaxed and happy there. She had her own armchair and personal routines. She would hug and kiss the carers she knew best. I believe mum loved them as she loved family members and you can't give higher praise than that. Gedling Village is run very well indeed by a warm, caring, hands-on manager who is highly respected by her staff. It thoroughly deserves 'Outstanding.'

My mum passed away in April 2020, and although we knew by then that my dad possibly had Alzheimer’s/Dementia, they had pottered around together quite happily until mum went, at which point we found ourselves completely lost.
When we were told dad would be placed in a home as an emergency case, we
didn’t know what to expect, and I had stilled myself for months, if not years, ahead of moving him from place to place, trying to find somewhere he was happy and we weren’t worried about his safety. We were so blessed that Gedling Village provided him with a new home where he immediately settled and was clearly so happy each and every day. They made all the difference to me and my family at such a difficult time, and the work they do is amazing.
Unfortunately, my dad passed away at the end of August 2020, and the condolences and support offered to us from all at Gedling Village are truly appreciated. Thank you for all you have done.

Mum moved to Gedling Village in February 2019. I looked at other care homes and then went to look round Gedling Village - I instantly liked it. The home is lovely and bright and airy, modern and very well kept. The residents bedrooms are very roomy with en suite bathrooms and the residents are encouraged
to have their personal pictures and ornaments etc. I have been visiting my mum when the meals arrive which always look nice and mum has never complained about the food. The staff are brilliant, they are very caring and constantly making sure that residents have plenty of drinks, together with a few snacks between meals. I think that all the staff have worked brilliantly through the Coronavirus to keep the home virus free and to carry on working through this very difficult time. The entertainment and outings that the home provides are very good. Mum has enjoyed several outings to the pantomime, beauty spots etc and the home regularly have music and singing artists.

Mum has now been resident at Gedling Village Care Home for 20 months and continues to be happy and well cared for. Her room is clean and comfortable. There seems a good and quite varied range of food provided; visitors are welcomed; and in 'normal times' a wide range of activities take place in which
she can and often does participate, some of which are pictured on the Home's social media page. As I write this, it remains closed to external visitors because of the national Coronavirus crisis, but great care has been taken by Management and Staff to protect Residents and ('touch wood'!) this has been very effective so far. Mum has a good relationship with Staff and there is lively banter and encouragement to participate in activities, all of which help to keep her active and alert. Please do not be discouraged by the early 2019 CQC Report, which caught the Home at a brief difficult moment that is now long behind them. My family and I have nothing but praise for Gedling Village Care Home, and would gladly recommend it to others.

My name is Michelle Garland and I have worked in care for 23 years. I have worked with Pearlcare at Gedling Village Care Home for the last 8 years. I started as an administrator, and I completed my NVQ level 2 in business management. I was promoted to deputy manager in September 2021 and became the manager in May 2022.


Throughout my 23 years of experience in care, I have worked within nursing, residential, dementia and worked on EMI units. I have gained a lot of knowledge and experience with all the different areas I have worked in. Since working with Pearlcare they have helped and supported me to gain further progression in my career as a manager. I am currently working towards my NVQ level 5 in residential management.


My main focus at Gedling Village Care Home is to ensure the safety of my residents and most importantly make sure they are happy and feel at home. As a manager I am passionate about my residents being supported and for them to be able to make their own choices and decisions, whichever it may be. Gedling Village thrives with their open-door policy and having an honest home. Gedling Village takes pride in their décor, activities and decision-making of the home to include all relatives, residents, staff, and family members to be included.


Gedling Village has achieved so many goals in the last 12 months. Gedling Village has altered the decoration within the care home and completed a massive garden renovation this year. We have decorated many bedrooms and changed the floorings, not only in bedrooms but corridors also. A lot of this was achieved from our Covid-19 infection control grant. We also managed to get x3 electric sluice machines and a medication room on each floor. Gedling Village have received 2 contract and monitoring inspection reports which have been very good, and we have also had a very good infection control inspection.


Gedling Village have put on plenty of events which include Halloween, Bonfire, Christmas, and our coronation party we had the local mayor and mayoress of our local area. Our residents also enjoy the regular entertainers, pantomimes, Zumba and our wonderful animal therapy.


We receive many comments from friends, family and relatives stating how enjoyable and how much entertainment we provide for our residents.

Jane Richmond

Job Title: Deputy Manager Joined: 2023

Jane has been in Health & Social Care for the past 30 years, doing a different range of jobs within the care setting including the NHS and Local Authority. More recently I was a Deputy Manager at a previous care home. Jane first joined us as Head of Care but has now taken on the role of Deputy Manager. Jane has an NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care, an NVQ Level 5 in Management and Leadership, and a Level 2 Diploma in Dementia Care.

Adesile has been in the Health & Social Care sector for the past 10 years working with Elderly and Young adults.


Whilst in these settings Adesile has completed his Level 2 in Learning Disabilities and Autistic Spectrum, Level 3 in Health and Social Care, Level 2 in Maths and English and he also has a Diploma in Leadership and Management. Adesile joined Gedling Village in April 2023 as a Senior Carer and wanted more out of the job role so has taken on Head of Care for more of a challenge.

Kelly came to Gedling Village to work at the beginning of 2023 as the Administrator. She has worked in care for the past 23 years and has her NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care. Kelly changed career in the past couple of years and became an administrator having a Diploma in Level 2 & 3 in Customer Service and a Reception Diploma.

Tracy Maddock

Job Title: Activity Co-Ordinator Joined: 2021

Tracy has worked at Gedling Village since 2021 as the Activities Co-Ordinator. She is a member of the Nottinghamshire Dementia Outreach Activity Co-ordinator’s Forum and has turned the home around where activities are concerned. Tracy puts in place a weekly diary of activities and also creates all our special events for all to join in.
