Have been to St Mary's to visit my mother-in-law. The staff were lovely, very helpful and caring. The home is very clean and mother-in-law's room very cosy. This home is much better than we could have wishes for.

My brother has been at St Mary's since February 2023. He is difficult to deal with as, apart from his mobility problems, he refuses to go out or join in with anything. However, the staff seem to have got used to him and treat him well and he is happy. I have marked activities as such because my brother
won't take part and I have marked value for money accordingly as his placement is paid for by the council.
Reply from Michelle Lecheminant, Manager at St Mary's Residential Care HomeThank you for your kind words, we will continue to offer the inclusion to activities etc. and support with all needs as appropriate.

An excellent care home with friendly, welcoming and helpful staff. The home is kept scrupulously clean and tidy and is well stocked with the essentials.
On the negative side - the staff numbers mean that those in post appear to be overworked and are consequently not able to spend much time with residents,
particularly if they want to go outside into the gardens (as most need to be accompanied).
Overall, the positives outweigh the negatives by a considerable margin.
Reply from Michelle Lecheminant, Manager at St Mary's Residential Care HomeThank you for the feedback; we now have a new activities coordinator in post, and I am confident she will make a big difference in the day-to-day lives of our residents.

Dad went to St Mary's after a short hospital stay. He settled in so quickly, and all of the staff are absolutely wonderful, and the care team treat him with such respect and dignity, which is so important for us as a family to see. I would recommend St Mary's to anyone wanting the same compassionate
care.

As a family, we feel very fortunate to have been recommended St Mary's. From the moment Dad arrived at the care home, he was welcomed and included. He is known by everyone and is always treated with dignity, love and patience by all the staff. The residents are clearly at the "centre". Most of all,
Dad is happy there. It is so hard to make the decision to place a dear Dad in residential care, but we know he is in a wonderful place, and thank you all.

Three of my community are in care at St Mary's. Over the years, a number of our sisters have been in care. At present, I visit twice daily. I always find the staff welcoming and helpful. Our sisters are very happy there and are grateful for the care they receive. I sense an atmosphere of happiness and
peace in St Mary's. The staff are very person-centred.

My father went to St Mary's straight from the hospital. The managers visited him in the hospital, and he was moved a few days later. All the staff have been so welcoming, and my father has settled in very well. He likes all the staff, and they are kind and supportive of him and us as a family. We know
he is being well looked after and is safe. As a family, we are very grateful. Many thanks to everyone.

My mum has been a resident of St Mary's Residential for nearly two years now and is very well cared for by the amazing staff. The home is spotlessly clean, and Mum loves the food!
Her well-being and happiness are my priority, and I have no concerns about either!
Thank you.

My father has been at the home just over four years, and until recently, my mother also, and during this time, they have been very well cared for. Father has often told me how kind everyone has been to him, and both of them enjoyed the meals. All the carers are courteous and helpful, and I know that
Dad is being well looked after.

My 102-year-old mother has been at St Mary’s care home for four months now after spending two months in hospital having broken her hip. She has a very nice large room and has settled well. The staff are friendly and efficient, and I feel that she is well looked after.
The small chapel has been converted
into a beautiful dining room, and the stained glass windows reflect onto the ground - it is such a lovely room where the residents are served good fresh meals. There are now two activity coordinators, so the residents are kept entertained with various activities.

My mother has been at St Mary's for nearly two years now. I have found the staff to have always been very caring and lovely with my mum. The management team are very good at keeping us informed of any changes as to how the home is to be run and if there are any concerns about how Mum is; they are quick
to contact us.
There is always the option to get involved with activities if residents wish to do so and they make an effort to make special occasions like birthdays and Christmas a memorable time. There is a lovely family feel to the home, and it is very reassuring to know that Mum is being looked after in such a warm, friendly and caring environment.

I found it so difficult finding suitable care for my mother. The staff at St Mary's are very kind and caring, and I am confident that she is now in the best place. Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.899)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.899) out of 10 for St Mary's Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.924 for St Mary's Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (209 Excellents x 5) + (13 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 224 Ratings = 4.924
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St Mary's Residential Care Home is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 27 registered maximum number of service users is 5.4, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
