Chesham Leys

My brother is a resident at Chesham Leys and has been there since November 2020. Sadly, due to the current restrictions, I have not been able to visit him. I phone the home on a regular basis to check on how he is and the staff are always so helpful and understanding. They can't do enough to support his family. He is in the best of care and has been made comfortable and safe. It has been such a relief knowing that he is being so well looked after and I thank all the staff.

I think this is an excellent home. The staff are always polite and caring. They always have time to listen and advise if I have a problem, and they also have a great sense of humour.

I cannot thank them enough during these testing times of COVID caring for my incredibly vulnerable mother with severe dementia.

Our Mum has been at Chesham Leys for a few months now and after a rather long period of isolation, she is now getting out of her room and participating in activities. The family have all noticed how much happier she is since arriving at Chesham Leys and how much healthier she looks. The staff at the Home are very responsive - particularly the Business Support - and we get regular updates from the nurses. We feel confident that Mum is now in the right place for her and is settled, happy and healthy. She has even managed to get herself on Facebook more than once and coped with family Skype calls! We thank everyone who is making her life comfortable and safe, and we look forward to meeting you all in due course when visiting is more 'open'. Best wishes to all at Chesham Leys.

My sister moved to Chesham Leys three years ago when it became impossible for her to live alone. She has been so happy here and we are all delighted with the care she has received. She has told us that she loves all her meals (having previously been a "fussy" eater!), and she enjoys and benefits from the activities which are organised. We are so grateful to all the staff for doing such a superb job, especially in this difficult and challenging year. Thank you!

As the husband of my dear wife, who has now passed away, I confirm her very happy experience at the Chesham Leys care home. The wonderful staff efficiently and professionally put the 'care' into care home. My dear wife intended to write this personally and more.

Chesham Leys is situated on a hill with pleasant views. It has two well-kept gardens for use by residents and visitors. The management and staff are particularly attentive to my wife's needs and call me with updates on her condition. Due to covid-19 restrictions, I have been unable to enter the premises, but the staff make every effort for garden visits. I would rate this care home as excellent.

Carers are very attentive but much rushed. Food is very satisfactory.

Well, it was rubbish - horrible staff (joking), the opposite really. Very kind and attentive, professional but approachable. They helped me a lot. Broke my leg badly and they helped me recuperate fast. Food not bad, good, a little room for better evening meal options. I would like to thank all the staff there, miss you - some more than others.

I cannot recommend highly enough this wonderful place and staff, my 88-year-old Father stayed here for 2 weeks for rehabilitation after breaking his hip in a fall during the COVID lockdown. The unit within the home had only been set up the week before to help hospitals with rehabilitation of patients due to the circumstance with COVID and the way they adapted was incredible. He has received the most amazing care from every member of staff, totally professional with very high hygiene measures in place to prevent any risk to staff and residents from COVID. They have worked very hard with him and helped him to regain his confidence to walk again and get back to independent living once more. The staff are amazing and did everything in their power to make him comfortable and feel welcome after a very different experience in Hospital due to COVID. Their professionalism in every aspect was fantastic and I can honestly say my Father's treatment and care was 100%.

The whole family would like to say a big thank you for all the staff looking after our Dad. We can only say how much we value your caring, commitment and professionalism while caring for our dad. From the nurses to the carers and managers, everyone is fantastic and shows a real respect for dad now and since he has been with you. I know that this must be a difficult time for you as it is for all of us but would like you to know how much we appreciate the support you give him and us when we ring. Thank you all once again and keep safe.

The team have been so quick to help and kind making things much easier for our family. My father was made to feel very welcome and all his needs catered for.

Administration and management is very good and we were given much helpful advice at a time when we needed guidance.

My mother was admitted to Chesham Leys for respite care. I cannot praise the staff enough for their efficient, professional and caring attitude. Nothing was too much trouble for them. This was the first time that Mum had been in a home and all the staff made her welcome and comfortable in the new environment. Mum settled well and the improvement in her health was outstanding. A big thank you to you all!

Quite simply I have much comfort in the knowledge that my mother is in the hands of staff that have a genuine care for her wellbeing. Thank you.

My wife arrived at Chesham Leys in May of last year. My wife has been treated very well from the carers. The carers are very good, caring and compassionate. I have also been treated very well when visiting.

I find the staff very nice, especially the carers.

The food is nice but I would prefer brown bread in my sandwiches as white is harder to digest.

My favourite activity is art and visiting singers and everything they organise for us. I especially like trips out.

I wish to acknowledge the excellent professional and compassionate care my mother and her family received at Chesham Leys. Everyone we came into contact with, cleaners, cooks, carers, nurses, managers, were all first class. The staff at Chesham Leys made my mothers passing as easy as it could be for my mother and her family.

Also personal care such as barbers, shaving etc - excellent.

I enjoy art, cooking and puzzles.
