Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
The care my dad received from everyone at The Glen was outstanding, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this home to anyone. From the beginning, it felt like we were all family. The staff, without exception, were friendly, caring and committed to providing a very professional service while still retaining
a homely environment. My dad felt very settled here, he enjoyed all aspects of the home, and they went out of their way to care for his needs. We had experience of several other homes, but The Glen provided, by far, the best quality of care my dad received and we were so very grateful.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.903) out of 10 for The Glen Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 18 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.953 for The Glen Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (206 Excellents x 5) + (8 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 215 Ratings = 4.953
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.95 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Glen Nursing Home is based on 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.95
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 66 registered maximum number of service users is 13.2, which has been reached with 18 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Provider Joined: 2014

I’ve been dedicated to mental health and general practice for many years. Growing up around nursing homes, with both my parents and grandparents working as nurses and running a care home in the local village, I was surrounded by elderly care from a young age. This early experience inspired my passion for healthcare, leading me to gain a first-class honours degree in Mental Health Nursing in 2007, before going to medical school in Leeds and ultimately leading on to becoming a GP.

As well as working actively within The Glen Nursing Home, I also work as an out-of-hours GP for 111, allowing me to support the wider community with their healthcare needs. This gives me a good insight into what is available currently in social care and how things can be improved here at The Glen Nursing Home. My focus has always been on person-centred care, ensuring residents receive the best possible support in a familiar and compassionate environment.

Outside of work, I enjoy running and socialising with friends. I am particularly proud of raising £3,000 for Manorlands Hospice in Oxenhope by running the London Marathon. When I’m not working or training, my two daughters keep me very busy.I am passionate about making a difference in dementia care, and I’m proud to be part of The Glen Nursing Home, helping to create a safe, supportive and caring home for the residents.

Job Title: Provider

I’ve worked in specialist dementia care for over 15 years. Having lived in Baildon all my life, my passion for elderly care began at an early age – both my parents were nurses and ran a nursing home in the village, meaning I grew up surrounded by the world of care and support. Being around residents living with dementia felt natural to me, and I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.

At 18, I pursued my passion further by studying Mental Health Nursing, qualifying with a degree and building my career in dementia care. Since then, I have had the privilege of supporting residents and their families through the challenges of dementia, focusing on providing compassionate, person-centred care.

Outside of work, I’m a busy mum to three daughters, who keep me on my toes! In my free time, I enjoy skiing, going to the gym, and socialising with friends.

I’m proud to be part of The Glen Nursing Home, where we strive to provide a warm, safe, and engaging environment for all our residents.

Job Title: Manager Joined: 2022

I’ve been a Registered Nurse since 2006, with a strong background in social care and palliative nursing. My career in care began when I worked as a community carer while studying for my first degree in Health Sciences, where I achieved a 2:1. This hands-on experience gave me a deep understanding of the importance of compassionate, person-centred care, shaping my commitment to supporting those in need.

I continued to develop my skills and knowledge, eventually completing a master’s degree in Adult Nursing, which strengthened my leadership and clinical expertise. After qualifying as a nurse, I worked in a variety of roles, but the job the most rewarding was as a palliative care nurse at the local hospice. I then transitioned into social care, where I progressed into management. Since 2022, I have been the Manager at The Glen Nursing Home, where I am dedicated to ensuring residents receive the highest standard of care and support.

Outside of work, I enjoy reading, travelling, and learning about local history. I am passionate about creating a warm, safe, and enriching environment for residents and supporting families through their loved ones’ journey with dementia.

What I love most about my role is making sure our residents receive the highest standards of care. I focus on staff training, boosting staff morale, and continuously improving the environment in which our residents live. It’s so important to me that every resident feels safe, supported, and truly at home. I have a BSc in Radiological Sciences, and I worked as a radiographer in the Philippines.

I really enjoy the management side of my job and take pride in initiating positive changes that help move the service forward. Outside of work, I enjoy travelling and spending quality time with my family, both of which bring me a great sense of balance and joy.

I am a proud mum of 2 daughters. I previously worked as a hairdresser after qualifying with a City and Guilds. I love listening to music, attending concerts and socialising with family and friends. I enjoy various fitness activities such as circuit training, pilates, yoga, gym and going for long walks with my dog Marley.

I’m originally from the Philippines, where I first studied and graduated with a degree in Sociology. After completing my studies, I realised my true passion was in nursing, so I went on to study General Nursing and qualified in 2008.

I began my nursing career in Saudi Arabia, working as a nurse for an electronics company. My role there involved a wide range of responsibilities, including dispensing medications, carrying out safety and risk assessments, and even organising activities for the staff. After some time, I felt ready for a new challenge and decided to move to the UK in search of greener pastures – and in 2022, I joined The Glen Nursing Home.

Since joining The Glen, I’ve felt completely at home. It’s like one big happy family, and I love being a part of it. I prefer working night shifts, where I can provide calm, consistent care during quieter hours.

Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, nature walks, and capturing the beauty of the outdoors through photography. I also love socialising with friends and spending time on my hobby – crocheting clothes and blankets, which brings me a great sense of relaxation and joy.
