The Review Score of 9.6 (maximum of 10) for Wentworth Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 13 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Wentworth Court in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 12 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.658 for Wentworth Court is calculated as follows: ( (114 Excellents x 5) + (29 Goods x 4) + (12 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 155 Ratings = 4.658

If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

The 4.968 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Wentworth Court is based on 12 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 12.4 positive Reviews (62 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 12 Reviews ÷ 12.4 Target = 0.968

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

I represent the Roman Catholic Church here in Cheltenham and visit 3 residents every week to pray and give them Holy Communion. I am so impressed with the care staff here - always kind and sympathetic towards the residents. So much going on there to help the residents paint, make pottery, quizzes etc. Etc. I am so happy to be there. I visit many times and really feel this one is excellent.

The word "amazing" is overused, but in this case applicable. Seeing my grandmother now makes me want to cry, because I remember who she was.
I manage not to because I see the dignity and respect that she is treated with when "unwell" (asleep in 1934 when she was 17 years old) and the smiles of the carers when she dances (awake in 1934). Always clean clothes and you always seem to know her, and every other patients, needs and routine.
You're all amazing and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Wentworth 4077 (reference to M.A.S.H). Best care anywhere.

The care and personal attention my 95 year old father received at Wentworth Court during his year long stay was excellent. There was never a shortage of staff to attend to his complex needs. They were always cheerful and attentive, a point Father always used to make.
I now appreciate this type of care is far more demanding than most people realise and takes a special kind of person to deal with dementia sufferers.
My father (old blue eyes) would want me to say a big 'thank you' to all of you.

My husband lived at Wentworth Court for over 18 months. During this time he came to like and trust the staff who were always caring, kind and compassionate. He died in mid-January and increasingly needed nursing care during the last three months of his life. In the last two weeks, he needed constant nursing. During this time, all the staff, but especially the nurses, showed great skill and professionalism and as a result, my husband experienced little distress or pain.
Overall my view of my husband's time in the home is positive. Caring for people with advanced dementia and similar long-term conditions is not always straightforward. It requires specialist training and knowledge and while there were a few occasions when I had some concerns, I always felt able to raise them I was listened to and action was taken to make improvements. Since it opened in May 2015, Wentworth Court has worked hard to provide a good standard of compassionate care to its residents.

Husband has dementia. Is resident in Wentworth Court, when visiting one is made very welcome and I find my husband is in very good reliable hands, sometimes when visiting he is very chatty, other times is very quiet and sleepy. But whichever way I find he is always most content and I would recommend the care at Wentworth Court to anyone.

My wife has been a resident at Wentworth Court over the past 7 months and during that time she has been looked after better than I could have looked after her at home. The activities could have been better but maybe this is due to my wife not joining in with the activities that are available.

Very friendly staff, bedroom very nice and good sized bathroom. Always warm and clean. Lovely gardens. The only problems are that personal items keep disappearing - I know that this is because other residents walk into my husband's room and take things, but after 3 pairs of slippers went and photographs also, I have decided not to keep replacing things. I have used marker pens on everything but it doesn't seem to help.

My mother was placed at Wentworth Court in December 2015. She has been w3ell cared for and always treated with dignity and respect. She feels secure as there is always people around to help her. Although her condition has deteriorated. I have never had any concerns about her care and the staff are so caring and supportive. As a family, we are so grateful to Wentworth Court.

Wentworth Court is a really lovely place and is like home. The rooms are a nice size and you can put your own personal touches to it. The gardens are lovely and my dad loved to sit outside in the nice surrounding in the summer. The care he receives is outstanding and the nursing staff will do their best to help you where they can. The food is lovely, nice home cooked meals which look delicious. Even the lady on reception is lovely, nothing is too much :)

When we had to move my 95yr old father from supported 'independent' living into 24hr residential care we did a lot of research into suitable placements and spoke to social and healthcare professionals. We visited several properties on the resulting shortlist and Wentworth Court was by far the most impressive. Modern, purpose built, clean, light and airy with plenty of clearly identifiable staff on hand. The rooms are of a decent size and Dad could have his pictures on the wall and knick knacks displayed which made it feel 'his'. The outside space is very pleasant to sit in and walk around. He greatly enjoyed the company of others and the arranged programme of activities. He particularly enjoyed sitting in the entrance atrium watching the comings and goings. The food was very good too.

The care he received throughout his all too short stay was exceptional, delivered with compassion and empathy.

My recommendation? - Among Dad's last words.......' I like it here'.

Mum Moved Into Wentworth on July 6th. She had previously been in another care home were she had a fall and broke her hip. Mum was not Happy about returning there so I went to look at Wentworth. I was very impressed in what I saw so decided to move Mum in. This was the best decision ever made on Mums behalf, she is so happy, settled and putting on weight and could not be looked after better. Staff are excellent cannot do enough to help. I would not hesitate to recommend Wentworth,

Job Title: Registered Manager

Description:

Kate Stevens has been working in care homes since she was at school, helping out at weekends as a kitchen assistant. After A levels, she decided against university to become a full-time care assistant in a nursing home specialising in dementia care and complex needs. After developing her experience over a decade and undertaking her Leadership and Management Award, Kate become senior team leader and then assistant manager at a nursing home in Cheltenham. Most recently she has been registered manager at a residential care home in Gloucester.

Kate had direct experience of caring for a family member with Alzheimer’s.

Kate explains: “My Nan was my inspiration when she was the Matron of Cashes Green hospital in Stroud. She was a much respected lady, who sadly was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease when I was a teenager.

“This was a very traumatic time for the family and at the time there was very little support or knowledge about the disease. After three years of living at home, her dementia was very advanced, and she went into a nursing home, which was sadly a bad experience for the family.

“I helped care for my Nan in the last six months of her life and I knew it was something I wanted to do. Caring for people with dementia is so hard and when you are related to that person even harder. I knew from then on I wanted to work in care and especially in dementia care. The vision that Wentworth Court has to provide care for people who are suffering with dementia is absolutely fantastic and I love the idea of whole home approach to ensure the highest quality care is given.

Kate is very passionate about caring for people with dementia and ensuring that there is support for families, friends and carers.

Kate says: “I am looking forward to developing the home and ensuring that we provide outstanding care for everyone who walks through are door. The home has all the potential to be a benchmark for other homes.”
