My husband was admitted to Wentworth Court in November 2024. He was in the later stages of Alzheimer's disease. The care he receives in Wentworth Court was very good. The staff are always kind and patient and have always kept me informed of any changes relating to his health. It is a very happy place,
which is a comfort to the residents and relatives.

My brother has been a resident for almost 12 months. The excellent care and staff at Wentworth Court made his settling in period very smooth with a minimum of stress. He is happy in his own world and well cared for.
I have been impressed with the friendliness and commitment of the staff and the way
the facilities are utilised. The varied programme of frequent activities provide for the residents and the encouragement of staff to make all add a valuable quality of life at Wentworth Court. We are so pleased my brother is a resident there.

I can't say how pleased we were as a family to have finally got Mum onto Wentworth. She had a difficult period of her life running up to this with her dementia. I'm only sad that she didn't then spend more time there before her passing. The staff were amazing. They cared, were attentive and genuinely
seemed connected with their residents. Their attention to families at difficult times was on another level. We did see some positive times with Mum in Wentworth when all before had been difficult. My only regret was not getting her there earlier in her diagnosis. The staff were compassionate, connected and always seemed to enjoy their jobs. Nothing was too much for them. The home is led by an inspirational manager, surrounded by a long-serving senior team that believes in person-centred care. They have been there and bought many t-shirts on a journey that families struggle with once in their lives if lucky, and they breathe that experience into the family and your parent.

After 20 months of my husband staying in Wentworth Court, I continue to be so happy with the care he receives. It is not an easy illness and they are so caring, even on my husband's difficult and cross days. They have even managed to get him to join in some of the many daily activities they have, such
a variety. They all have the patience of saints and I admire them all. They comfort me also on my down days when I have a difficult visit. They do not shy away from the truth of the situation.

Kind, compassionate, imaginative. My mother had had a very unhappy time at another care home and arrived at Wentworth Court at a low point. With the kind and imaginative care she received she was able to learn to walk again and the progress in her physical and mental health and well-being has been remarkable.
The carers are so friendly, kind and compassionate and the activities and work of the well-being team are fantastically good. Mum has smiled and laughed again in a way she has not done for years. The management team are excellent as well. Thank you for all you have done Wentworth Court to find joy back into Mum's life.

Outstanding! Fantastic manager. Caring Staff. Great Communication!
My mother has been at Wentworth Court since April 2023. Placing a parent in care is heartbreaking and Mum hadn’t settled at all well in her 'interim/respite' care home.
Since Mum has been at Wentworth Court she’s been a changed person,
she is settled, much calmer, happy, beautifully clean and always well-groomed.
Every time l visit, the staff are delightful, friendly, courteous and visibly caring with the residents.
There is a tangible feeling of a 'happy workplace' which is clearly a reflection on the manager. From day one the manager has been an excellent port of call, welcoming, understanding and wonderfully upbeat, he is clearly an outstanding manager.
Communication is also exemplary, be it from the care or nursing team reaching out or the fantastic updates on the home’s social media page where l regularly see Mum participating in activities thanks to the fantastic events team!
A personal huge thank you to the whole team!

I visit my Dad every day and he's always neat and clean. He says he's well-fed and he loves his room. He loves all the staff and is so much happier than he was at home. Friends who visit frequently comment on how much better he looks.

I am very happy with the care my father receives. He needs specialist dementia care and the staff are experts in this field. I am very impressed with the activities provided and the ethos of wellbeing there. I feel there is also now a happy atmosphere generated by the staff which gives a sense of fun
when visiting. The garden is beautiful and a happy place to meet residents in the summer months. My only slight negative comments are that I wish my Dad could hold on to his possessions. Missing items like hats in particular are a problem despite them all being named. I would also love to see my Dad’s bedroom being given a lick of paint. Dad wouldn’t notice, but it affects the way I feel about his surroundings. Thank you to Wentworth Court for looking after my Dad so well.

Wentworth Court have provided my husband with a safe, caring environment to live and be cared for 24 hours a day. Right from the start he settled in well and having all the wonderful carers around him keeps him happy and content. He enjoys the activities and benefits greatly from their ethos of keeping
residents where possible together, during the day. This may be inside or out in the garden where in the recent warm weather he likes listening to the music and eating ice cream! It’s his home but also somewhere where I feel supported and very comfortable when I visit.

It was a very difficult time for us as a family last November when the decision was made for our Dad to go into 24/7 care. The whole team at Wentworth Court were fantastically supportive during this time. The team are all so friendly and have an excellent knowledge and understanding of the needs and
challenges that our Dad faces day to day.
We have seen Dad settle into Wentworth Court and develop relationships with both the staff and other residents. We sleep well at night knowing that Dad is safe and well looked after.
Wentworth Court definitely has a person centred approach, and we love that Dad is often invited to go with the maintenance team on trips to Screwfix etc which, for Dad is very much something he did when he was at home. I would highly recommend Wentworth Court and wish to take the opportunity to Thank the entire team.

My husband has been at Wentworth Court since April 2021. The care he has received during this time has been excellent. To the best of my knowledge, he has always been treated with kindness, understanding and respect. There is a warm and friendly atmosphere within the home and the staff have always made
me feel welcome when visiting my husband. Any concerns I've expressed have been quickly and efficiently addressed. I have also been impressed with the wide range of activities provided for residents.

Wentworth Court provides a safe and caring environment for my mum. As a dementia-only care home, they are more able to give residents the special support that's essential to their needs. The team give me confidence that they have the best interest of each resident at the very forefront. Cannot recommend

Mum seems happier than she has been for a long, long time. She is joining in activities, such as dancing, which she really enjoys. The manager and the staff are very approachable and helpful. They gave us advice during Mum's settling in period. Mum is now safe and happy at Wentworth and it is because
of the staff she has settled in so well. Her room is lovely, cosy, bright and clean. She is not lonely anymore. The manager is clearly running a good ship. The only reason why I have given the food and drink 4 stars is because I don't know. What I do know is that Mum is clearly eating and drinking well as she looks healthy and never complains about the food when I visit her.

My Nan is far happier than she ever was in her own home. The team at Wentworth are always polite, courteous and welcoming when we visit. They all have a beautiful relationship with my Nan, she is always singing their praises and says how well she is looked after. I get overwhelmed by how happy and healthy
Nan is and feel so lucky that Nan has a home she feels safe and comfortable in. Nan enjoys the variety of activities the team facilitates for them all daily, it’s a blessing to be able to see posts of Nan online almost every day, she always has a massive smile. Photos say a thousand words and the trusting bond you see between Nan and carers is heartwarming. Wentworth Court is a credit to our community and the team are a credit to the elderly ones they care for.

Current Review Score: 8.7 (8.668)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.7 (8.668) out of 10 for Wentworth Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.783 for Wentworth Court is calculated as follows: ( (47 Excellents x 5) + (13 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 60 Ratings = 4.783
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.885 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Wentworth Court is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 65 registered maximum number of service users is 13. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 13 = 0.385
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Registered Nursing Manager

Tell us a little about yourself

I studied for my first degree in nursing before I gained a master’s degree in nutrition and food safety at Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest. I have always been ambitious and since I started working at Wentworth Court as a nurse five years ago, I have progressed to be the clinical lead for the home, and I am now the Registered Nursing Manager.

What inspired you to train as a nurse?

Since I was a child, I have had a great respect for the ‘white coat’ profession. I remember when my mum had to stay in hospital for two weeks, I decided I wanted to be a nurse more than anything else!

What do you like most about working in a nursing home?

I like getting to know the residents and their familiarity, that they don’t leave after a set period of time like in a hospital. In a nursing home, you get to know and see the person, rather than a diagnosis. In my personal experience, I have found working in a nursing home to be far more rewarding than in a hospital setting.

What are three great things about working at Wentworth Court?

For me, the people living at Wentworth Court, we get great feedback from the residents we work with. Also working with a great team where we are always learning and expanding our knowledge. I love that every day is unique!

What do you think makes Wentworth Court a special place?

The whole home approach where everyone is involved in supporting our residents’ wellbeing and the buzzing atmosphere! Being professional doesn’t rule out laughter and joy – we are all committed to making Wentworth Court a wonderful place to live.

Job Title: General Manager Joined: 2015

I live in Gloucester with my wife and young family.

How did you get to work in care?

Back in 2002, my wife was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and passed away the following year. Within that 12-month period, she was subjected to weekly chemotherapy treatment and fortnightly drainage of ascites.

The nurses at Cheltenham General were so attentive and empathetic whilst carrying out their duties and I thought ‘I’d love to do something like that, I bet I’d be good at it,’ despite having trained and worked as an accountant.

After a time, I saw an advert for a carer in Oxford, applied and following the usual checks, I was offered the position.

Within a year I had completed my Health And Social Care NVQ Levels 2 and 3 and had become a Senior Carer. Further promotions culminated in me becoming Care Manager. I joined the team at Wentworth Court in June 2015 and was promoted to Head of Residential Care in January 2016 and was appointed Manager in 2018.

What do you like most about working in the care industry?

It sounds cheesy but the thought of making a positive impact on a resident’s day, week and/or life is what I really love about care work in general.

What are three great things about working at Wentworth Court?

I’d say the three best things about working at Wentworth Court is the bright and pleasant environment, the wonderful staff that I get to work with and most important of all, the residents.

What do you think makes Wentworth Court a special place?

The family-like atmosphere and the relaxed yet professional approach that has evolved at Wentworth Court.
