Mum is very happy at Wentworth Court. There are always lots of activities for her to do on a daily basis. When we were able to visit, everyone was really friendly. Now when we can't visit, there are always lots of lovely photos on Facebook for us to see. We are very thankful for the care and support
given to my mum.

I visited the home in my capacity as a Church of England vicar.
I have visited many homes in this capacity so can quickly spot when things are genuine and when they are for glitz and ‘effect’.
Everything at Wentworth Court is focussed, not only on the health and well being of the residents but also
their happiness. There are seemingly tiny touches which make it feel like home. I can only mention some, but the gardens, presence of animals for residents to cuddle, themed events...I could go on but would miss lots out if I tried to list them all.
The staff are passionate about caring and although, I believe they are motivated to ‘self manage’, I am in no doubt that the management would ensure that standards never slip. They are rightly proud of Wentworth Court and I would recommend it without hesitation.

I expected finding a care home that our family would be happy to become dads’ home would be extremely difficult, if not impossible. We visited several. All very clean, very pleasant and welcoming staff. A few seemed to be possibles, for different reasons. Wentworth was the last visit. The room is spacious,
en suite, customisable. The building is great, safe, spacious, bright. The garden is fantastic - flowers, rhubarb, chickens. The cafe is a brilliant idea. But the magic indefinable plus is the BUZZ. And that is down to the ethos of the staff in all their different roles. It’s a place to live in, in all senses of the word.

My mum has absolutely thrived in the Wentworth environment, my uncle too. To see my mum's mind being continually stimulated every day all day is absolutely fantastic. The staff are definitely, in my opinion, the best you can get, they genuinely care about your loved one, nothing is too much trouble.
The minute you step in the building, you are greeted by more than one member of staff, it’s like a hub of happiness, loved ones are there having a laugh with staff and you are quickly brought into the hub of people buzzing around staff and residents alike. It was a big decision for mum to enter a care home but to see my mum actually living a life of fun and games every day lightens my heart.

We have been so happy with the care our father has had since moving into his new home. Dad has a lot of medical needs but the support he receives is wonderful. Every day there are activities to stimulate his mind and help him to socialise and feel loved. There are lots of photos taken and dad is always
having fun and smiling which is lovely for us to see. We get regular updates on dad's progress and he can get support with technology so that we can chat virtually. Since arriving, dad has taken part in an Olympic inspired event, lots of tea parties in the wonderful gardens and numerous crafting opportunities. This week he has been helping to create a Frankenstein for Halloween. Dad is enjoying every day and we are thrilled that he is so well looked after and really grateful to everyone on the team - thank you!

My husband has been a resident of Wentworth Court since the Spring of 2019. The care and attention he receives there are exemplary. The whole team are caring and go to great lengths to make sure he is as safe and content as his dementia allows. I have never had to worry that he isn't in the right place
or getting the right kind of care. Their dedication amazes me as they always seem to have endless patience with their residents. The activities over the time of my husband's stay have been so well thought out and thoroughly enjoyed by residents and their families alike. During Covid 19 they have made sure I am kept informed of the current decisions as to if and when the home will be open to families again. I received regular photos and updates on his health and welfare. I am thankful every day that my husband is in such a wonderful home!

I feel so lucky we found Wentworth Court for our dad suffering from Alzheimer’s. The only dementia only home in Cheltenham. A lovely thought out home bringing the outdoors in with plenty of windows and doors looking onto the beautiful well kept gardens. The team go above and beyond to care for our loved
ones with compassion and dignity. Wentworth is a happy, busy home always preparing for the next fun event.

I, as well as my son and daughter, were very impressed on our first meeting with people from the home. Subsequently, we have been very happy indeed with the choice we made for my wife who has dementia. The staff are very cheerful and caring and go out of their way to make things special for residents.
Their individual needs seem a very important part of the carers' work. The home has an activities coordinator and there is always something going on - a special day of some sort, a games activity, painting or drawing or some simple handicraft, a musical event, the occasional visit out in the minibus. Some of this has been necessarily curtailed during lockdown but this survey, I assume, is meant to be about the home under happier circumstances. The accommodation is bright and cheerful and there is even a useful tiny little "café" which brings a cheer to the place.

Due to Covid-19, I have not been able to visit Wentworth since March. Since my Uncle has been a resident I have no adverse comments to make and have nothing but praise for the management and care staff. By visiting their Facebook family & friends page it is very comforting to see that despite Covid
the residents appear to be fully entertained and occupied.

My husband has been bright and happy at Wentworth Court for 18 months. He is 93, has Alzheimer's and is not now mobile. I have always found all the staff to be truly caring and I came to look on them and the other lovely residents as my Wentworth family while I was able to visit 3-4 times weekly. Sadly
it is 7 months since we were able to visit due to COVID-19 restrictions. Distressing, but I am grateful that he is at Wentworth and could not have been in a better place or had better care during this time. Families are kept in touch with photographs and videos of activities in a Facebook group and Skype conversations and those who wish can make phone or Skype calls. My husband did not do I.T. but is coaxed by the patient carers to have Skype conversations. The activities team involve all residents in preparing for events such as ‘A day at the seaside in the garden’, Olympics and others as well as daily music, sport and exercise fun. Top marks all round!

Cannot express how relieved and happy I am to see my mother thriving and enjoying the care she receives at Wentworth Court. She has a new lease of life, loves the activities and says everyone is kind to her. Highly recommend to anyone who is struggling as I was, to consider this home; the evidence in
how my mum presents, happy, clean, tidy and so settled, shows she is very well cared for.

Outstanding nursing home. Always goes the extra mile to make sure we as a family and the residents are so well cared for. They always make Birthdays and Christmas so much fun for them all in there. Staff are always on hand if you need a chat about anything.

I have only recently started visiting this care home as a "Mindsong" Volunteer - 4/5 of us meet there once a fortnight to sing songs with the residents. Several of them seem to enjoy this and take part. The staff appear to be caring, patient and professional with the residents and both staff and residents
are always very welcoming when we visit. The only slightly negative issue is that it is always very warm and if the temperature was turned down a bit there could be fewer residents asleep and more taking part in music.

As a Mindsong volunteer, I regularly came to the home to sing with the residents. It is evident in my time there that the staff take great care of the residents, making time to do the little things like helping to paint a resident's nails. There are regular and varied activities and everyone is treated
with individuality and respect.

My mother has been in this care home for just over a year. I visit her once a week so it is difficult to be accurate in my assessment of the home however she does seem happy there. The home seems well run and the staff are friendly and accommodating.

I represent the Roman Catholic Church here in Cheltenham and visit 3 residents every week to pray and give them Holy Communion. I am so impressed with the care staff here - always kind and sympathetic towards the residents. So much going on there to help the residents paint, make pottery, quizzes etc.
Etc. I am so happy to be there. I visit many times and really feel this one is excellent.

The word "amazing" is overused, but in this case applicable. Seeing my grandmother now makes me want to cry, because I remember who she was.
I manage not to because I see the dignity and respect that she is treated with when "unwell" (asleep in 1934 when she was 17 years old) and the smiles of the
carers when she dances (awake in 1934). Always clean clothes and you always seem to know her, and every other patients, needs and routine.
You're all amazing and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

The care and personal attention my 95 year old father received at Wentworth Court during his year long stay was excellent. There was never a shortage of staff to attend to his complex needs. They were always cheerful and attentive, a point Father always used to make.
I now appreciate this type of
care is far more demanding than most people realise and takes a special kind of person to deal with dementia sufferers.
My father (old blue eyes) would want me to say a big 'thank you' to all of you.

Wentworth Court is a really lovely place and is like home. The rooms are a nice size and you can put your own personal touches to it. The gardens are lovely and my dad loved to sit outside in the nice surrounding in the summer. The care he receives is outstanding and the nursing staff will do their
best to help you where they can. The food is lovely, nice home cooked meals which look delicious. Even the lady on reception is lovely, nothing is too much :)

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.379)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.379) out of 10 for Wentworth Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.787 for Wentworth Court is calculated as follows: ( (86 Excellents x 5) + (21 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 108 Ratings = 4.787

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.592 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Wentworth Court is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 65 registered maximum number of service users is 13. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 13 = 0.692

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Georgiana Rossu

Job Title: Registered Nursing Manager

Tell us a little about yourself

I studied for my first degree in nursing before I gained a master’s degree in nutrition and food safety at Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest. I have always been ambitious and since I started working at Wentworth Court as a nurse five years ago, I have progressed to be the clinical lead for the home, and I am now the Registered Nursing Manager.

What inspired you to train as a nurse?

Since I was a child, I have had a great respect for the ‘white coat’ profession. I remember when my mum had to stay in hospital for two weeks, I decided I wanted to be a nurse more than anything else!

What do you like most about working in a nursing home?

I like getting to know the residents and their familiarity, that they don’t leave after a set period of time like in a hospital. In a nursing home, you get to know and see the person, rather than a diagnosis. In my personal experience, I have found working in a nursing home to be far more rewarding than in a hospital setting.

What are three great things about working at Wentworth Court?

For me, the people living at Wentworth Court, we get great feedback from the residents we work with. Also working with a great team where we are always learning and expanding our knowledge. I love that every day is unique!

What do you think makes Wentworth Court a special place?

The whole home approach where everyone is involved in supporting our residents’ wellbeing and the buzzing atmosphere! Being professional doesn’t rule out laughter and joy – we are all committed to making Wentworth Court a wonderful place to live.

Gez Ossai

Job Title: General Manager

I live in Gloucester with my wife and young family.

How did you get to work in care?

Back in 2002, my wife was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and passed away the following year. Within that 12-month period, she was subjected to weekly chemotherapy treatment and fortnightly drainage of ascites.

The nurses at Cheltenham General were so attentive and empathetic whilst carrying out their duties and I thought ‘I’d love to do something like that, I bet I’d be good at it,’ despite having trained and worked as an accountant.

After a time, I saw an advert for a carer in Oxford, applied and following the usual checks, I was offered the position.

Within a year I had completed my Health And Social Care NVQ Levels 2 and 3 and had become a Senior Carer. Further promotions culminated in me becoming Care Manager. I joined the team at Wentworth Court in June 2015 and was promoted to Head of Residential Care in January 2016 and was appointed Manager in 2018.

What do you like most about working in the care industry?

It sounds cheesy but the thought of making a positive impact on a resident’s day, week and/or life is what I really love about care work in general.

What are three great things about working at Wentworth Court?

I’d say the three best things about working at Wentworth Court is the bright and pleasant environment, the wonderful staff that I get to work with and most important of all, the residents.

What do you think makes Wentworth Court a special place?

The family-like atmosphere and the relaxed yet professional approach that has evolved at Wentworth Court.
