Mum has lived at The Place Up Hanley for two and a half years. During this time she has been cared for in a professional and caring manner. The staff are very welcoming to all and nothing is too much trouble for them. Food is plentiful and beautifully presented for residents, with special menus if required. We couldn't be happier with everything and most importantly, Mum is happy there.

For those that cannot visit more times a week, a social media page with pictures of the residents doing activities, etc. would be much appreciated. It would be lovely to see my dad doing stuff! (I can only see a handful of photos).

Dad has only been at the care home for a few months and we have found the staff and management very approachable and kind. Any concerns raised have been listened to and prompt action has been taken to improve the situation. The staff are caring and responsive overall and try to treat each resident with empathy and understanding. Opportunities for varied, enjoyable activities happen regularly and residents/family are encouraged and supported in taking part. A special mention to the activities worker, who is absolutely amazing!

We visited our relative who is a sister to three sisters, one brother and one sister-in-law we had lunch with our relative the food was very good and the staff went out of their way to accommodate us all and put two tables together so we could sit together. The staff are very good, pleasant very helpful and very friendly it made a very pleasant occasion for us all.

Our sister-in-law was very happy with this and we would like to say a big thank you to the cook, which we did on the day but wanted it on paper.

I visit my friend daily in the care home. At all times, I observe the staff to be so kind, caring and sympathetic in the care they give to the elderly residents in their care. If you are considering residential care for a loved one, I would personally recommend The Place Up Hanley.

The Care my mum received whilst visiting for respite was outstanding and she came home a totally different person. She seems to have thoroughly enjoyed her stay, she joined in the activities and was made to feel very welcome. The staff were so friendly and seemed to genuinely care, nothing was too much trouble, we were very anxious about leaving mum as it was our first week's respite but all went well and she’s booked in again in a few weeks time. Absolutely fab experience for us and my mum.

I always have a good experience at The Place. The staff always listen to anything I have to say, and act upon it as soon as possible, should I have a request. All the carers are caring, and senior staff too. The lady in the office is very helpful.

Mum went to live at The Place just before Christmas. We have found the staff to be approachable, caring, professional at all times. Even though they are often very busy, they always have a smile. The housekeepers keep the home spotless, the kitchen staff friendly and always engage well with residents. The activities are fun and engaging and residents are encouraged to participate. Having just received a diagnosis from hospital consultant that my Mum has myeloma, bone cancer, I could not have wished for better support from the staff at the care home. Everyone is so kind. I feel assured that the care my Mum will require will be attended to. I feel that my Mum and we as a family are being supported by very caring and professional staff. We wish to thank all the staff at the home.

Since arriving at the care home my wife has been well looked after by the staff and volunteers. They have gone above and beyond their roles to ensure that my wife is fully supported and cared for in the way that I would have hoped. What remains a very difficult situation has been eased by their kindness, understanding and patience always ready to listen and available to accommodate my wishes. I continue to be grateful for their support and expertise that is evident at the care home.

Overall Experience

This is an absolutely amazing residential home. We have previously had a bad experience with a care home so finding The Place was such a relief. The building is spotlessly clean and always has a calm atmosphere. Trusting someone to care for a family member is an extremely difficult thing to do but I have always had complete peace of mind, knowing that my dad was receiving outstanding care. The management and staff are wonderful - caring, patient, kind and treat residents with respect at all times, nothing is too much trouble. The meals are delicious and the kitchen staff will always find something to suit everyone. I would have no hesitation in recommending The Place to anyone who is searching for a residential home and I am extremely grateful for the excellent care that my dad has received.

June 29th was my mothers 95th birthday and 8 family members joined her for a cold buffet lunch prepared by the kitchen. The room was nicely decorated and birthday cake made very nicely done. On Sat afternoon 27 members of family and residents attended a party. The cold buffet was very tasty and contained all dishes that we asked for. We provided entertainment of magician and singer and everyone enjoyed the afternoon. I felt the staff worked very hard to cover the party as well as normal duties.
