Colten Care has now opened two beautiful top floor suites, The Martlets and The Witterings.

They have been designed to enable couples to continue living together, with support from the home team if required. The suites offer a more independent lifestyle, alongside care and companionship when it's needed.

Both suites have a light, bright and airy feel about them with contemporary décor. Peaceful and tranquil, they have a separate living space - where simple snacks and hot drinks can be made - and bedroom with an en suite shower room. Delicious cooked meals and other chores including cleaning and laundry are all taken care of, by the friendly team.

Experience the warmth and care of these friendly, relaxing care homes whilst making new friends.

Wellington Grange is the newest of the Colten Care homes, purpose-built on the historic Roussillon Barracks site to offer the highest standards of residential and nursing care.

The home offers en-suite bedrooms across three floors. Each room is beautifully decorated and fully furnished with oak furniture and residents are welcome to bring their own items of furniture should they so wish.

Wellington Grange is a home full of character, the interior carefully styled with colour, art and pattern to reflect the local historical, cultural and natural attributes of Chichester.

At the home residents will find a therapy room, salon, library, cinema and study as well as a range of bistros and cafes to spend the day.

Minibus trips from the home will run regularly to enable residents to enjoy a taste of the countryside or even the seaside, and on days within the home, a range of thought-provoking and enjoyable ways to spend the day are created by in-house activities team and the residents themselves.

From initial contact through check-in my stay to check-out, I found the whole process very easy and all the staff superb in how they deal with all the residents in Wellington Grange. Wellington Grange is a very friendly home and I would highly recommend it to anyone considering respite or expert care.
The kid ribs were great.

I have spent two weeks respite, and I can honestly say that I have never found such a lovely, warm, caring, friendly bunch of people. The call bell is silent, so no ringing driving everyone mad! There is never a long wait for a carer, and they are always happy to help. The food was lovely, good choice
and quality. I didn't get to mix with other residents due to Covid quarantine. I would, without hesitation, recommend Wellington Grange.

My husband was admitted to Wellington Grange in February 2021. The manager and her team made him feel very welcome. The care he received was wonderful. The staff were very attentive to him and I really could not have chosen a better place for my husband to be. He became unwell and passed away, last
weekend. The care my husband, myself and my family have received has been outstanding. I cannot recommend Wellington Grange highly enough.

Undoubtedly, the care I have received at Wellington Grange has greatly helped my recovery from a broken shoulder. I have been made comfortable, been lovely and warm and well fed. The staff and residents have been very friendly and there is always plenty to do - a varied games/activity programme. Good
for vitality.

This is an excellent establishment/provider.
Building and public rooms are clean and bright.
Bedrooms and their facilities are good.
Meals are healthy and appetising.
There is not and should be a welcome letter/paper on arrival. It should cover (for the new resident) all aspects of living here.
Reply from Helen Smith, Home Manager at Wellington GrangeThank you John for your kind words and comments about the home. We have been working on improving our welcome letter with your helpful advice which has been included. We always aim to improve the information for new residents and develop our home experience for all residents.

Wellington Grange is a very comfortable and attractively decorated building with a beautiful and well-fenced garden. It is very efficiently run. But above all, it has an extremely kind and caring staff who work above and beyond the call of duty to make it a happy home.
Reply from Helen Smith, Home Manager at Wellington GrangeThank you for your lovely comment about the home and the positive experience you have had over the two years you have resided at Wellington Grange.
We will be looking forward to less restrictive activities following the Covid-19 outbreak and offering you more outside trips. We, of course, have a very supportive companionship team who are on hand to provide activities 7-days a week.
In the meantime, thank you once again for your kind words and that you would be extremely likely to recommend the home.

My mother became a resident at Wellington Grange in June 2016, shortly after the home was opened. The manager and reception staff are very friendly and welcoming; all of the care staff and nurses are extremely caring, and the housekeeping staff provide an excellent service. The chef's and catering staff
provide top-class meals with a good choice and attention to individual residents requirements, especially when my mother has been unwell when they have provided food to tempt her to eat something. There are plenty of activities run by the helpful and caring activities team. All of the staff are so friendly, making it really like a home from home for my mother.
The home is a lovely environment, with a great garden for residents to relax in. Around seven years ago, I had an experience of another care home, and all of the above comments could also be applied to as well, which is a great reflection on the care home providers.

I cannot sing the praises of Wellington Grange highly enough. Before my father entered the home some three years ago, I had a very jaundiced view of care homes: this has been totally dispelled for a variety of reasons - the wonderful caring atmosphere, friendly staff, the attention to detail, the overall
service environment plus of course, the very attractive physical surroundings, both the inside and the well-maintained and delightful garden. Also, it is perhaps incredible to say that I am not aware of a single ground for complaint over the entire period, which is now quite lengthy, of my father's stay at Wellington Grange. I think above all it is the professionalism that really counts most - at the end of the day one is entrusting the health and well-being of one's own parent to an outside organisation, and it is the ability to trust that one's parent's best interests are always at the forefront of what goes on on a day-to-day basis; that is the most reassuring element.

When I came to Wellington Grange three years ago I was very impressed with the friendly welcome shown by all the staff and this attitude has been maintained. Until the coronavirus, a minibus was available twice a week for trips to the countryside and lunches at local restaurants and this was greatly
enjoyed. I had to sell my bungalow so that I could live at Wellington Grange and at 95 I am hoping my money will last.
Reply from Helen Smith, Home Manager at Wellington GrangeThank you for your lovely comment about the home and the positive experience you have had over the three years you have resided at Wellington Grange. I am sorry that you are not able to enjoy the minibus trips at this time, we look forward to being able to reintroduce this service and will keep you updated on this. In the meantime, thank you once again for your kind words and that you would be extremely likely to recommend the home.

Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.975)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.975) out of 10 for Wellington Grange is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 20 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.975 for Wellington Grange is calculated as follows: ( (233 Excellents x 5) + (6 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 239 Ratings = 4.975
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Wellington Grange is based on 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 76 registered maximum number of service users is 15.2, which has been reached with 20 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
