Latoya Edwards is our Home Manager at Wytham House Care Home, here’s a little bit more about the home in her own words:
“As a dedicated home manager, I’m committed to creating a supportive and positive environment for both the team and residents, where compassion, respect, and dignity are at the heart of everything we do.
I have 11 years of nursing experience and 4 years as a deputy manager within a care home, during which I developed strong leadership and operational skills. I hold a Level 7 Diploma in Health and Social Care Management and am driven by the motto, 'failure is not an option’, which helped me achieve my goal of becoming a home manager.
The most joyful part of my job is seeing the smiles and gratitude from residents and their families. I also take great pride in witnessing the growth within my team and knowing that I’ve made a positive impact on the lives of those I’ve had the privilege to connect with.”
I work closely with families and their loved ones to support them through the transition to residential care, building lasting relationships and providing peace of mind during what can be a difficult and emotional time. My role is to ensure they make fully informed decisions, using the knowledge and experience I have gained over 16 years in this role.
I began my career in care in 2013, inspired by supporting my father through Lewy body dementia. I now provide admin support to the Manager and team, including diary management, filing, and maintaining records. I enjoy helping colleagues and chatting with residents; seeing them smile reminds me of the special moments I shared with my dad. I’m proud to be part of the team and aim to make a positive difference each day.
