Review from Ron M (Husband of Resident) published on 26 May 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience
Vida Grange, located in Pannal, a rural Yorkshire village near Harrogate, is an excellent, professionally managed care home. Purpose designed, it is one of three Vida Healthcare homes dedicated to providing specialist care to residents suffering from dementia, including Alzheimers.
Each of its eight 'houses' provides a spacious, en suite room to each resident plus shared use of a large sitting room/TV lounge, dining area, kitchen and quiet room. Outdoor seating is also available.
The quality of nursing and residential care provided at Vida Grange is second to none. Each house has its own highly trained staff team, enabling residents to know the staff who in turn develop deep knowledge of residents' physical and mental health conditions as well as their behaviour, likes and dislikes. Carers provide dignified personal care to each resident, ensuring that they enjoy high standards of personal hygiene. The kindness and patience shown to residents is exemplary. Professional chefs provide nutritious, enjoyable meals and snacks every day.

Vida Grange has a professionally managed Wellbeing Team of caring staff who organize creative and enjoyable activities, along with outings in the home's minibus. Armchair exercise-to-music sessions are provided and excellent professional singers visit the home to entertain residents.

This review will not truly reflect the genuine kindness and patience all staff, from manager to cleaner to admin + especially the carers. My mums key carer was beyond wonderful. The welfare and entertainment team just so very kind and fun! Bart who was Santa with his elves was such a fun joyful moment to cherish. At mums funeral, a team leader + key carer attended but also the house cleaner Binu who had built a lovely respectful (on both sides!) with my mum. I was humbled he came to pay his respects! Victoria House is a haven in the cruel world of dementia.

We have had really good feelings about our family member being a resident in your care but over recent months have encountered some very confusing conflicting information about their dementia journey as it seems to be coming to the later stages it's not good .. as we have to pass on information to family members who have chosen not to visit this can sometimes be quite stressful ..

My husband came to Vida Grange in November 2025, I am so happy with the way all the staff are with Peter and myself. He settled in very quickly and started to put on weight. The food,he thoroughly enjoys his meals and the snacks available for him. The well being team are all so kind, caring and mindful of his needs. As soon as I enter the building I am always greeted with a friendly face and smile. So welcoming in so many ways. The whole team on Harlow Carr House are amazing in every way so thankful for everyone involved in my husband's care.

My mum has severe dementia and having entered a care home in August I and the healthcare advisers felt she required a more specialised Dementia home. She moved to Vida Grange Crimple Valley house in October and they have been fantastic. The calm and relaxing vibe really has helped and the staff are so loving giving hugs all the time and reassurance, with something to join in with if she wants to most days,a lovely cafe room we can sit in and it feels like we are out for coffee and cake in a coffee shop, great idea. She has become more relaxed and settled and is getting super care I am very pleased I chose them.Excellent all round.

Very happy with the care my husband receives both physically and emotionally. Excellent physical care addressing his needs, for example occasional skin 'breakouts' Emotional care - most attentive. He can become upset for no apparent reason. Staff take time to comfort and reassure him. All such incidents are communicated to the family. Staff show genuine concern.

After my mother passed, what stayed with us was deep gratitude for Vida Grange. It became more than a care home, it was a second home, where my mother was truly seen, respected, and loved. After a traumatic experience at her previous home, the care, compassion, and professionalism from the Vida team gave us instant relief. My mother slept peacefully from her first night, no longer scared or anxious. Thoughtful details, like using her familiar pill pots, made all the difference. In her final days, staff treated her with such tenderness - brushing her hair, spraying her perfume, and gently comforting her. They looked after her and us with extraordinary kindness. Her last home was peaceful, safe, and dignified. If she could, I know she'd thank you for looking after her and her girls. So, I'll say it for her - thank you.

My mum had been a resident at Vida Grange for 18 months now. As a family we are so pleased and happy with Vida Grange. Where to start. All the staff are asset to the care home, from the lovely receptionists that provide a friendly warm welcome every time we visit. The porters, catering and chefs are always so friendly and professional when they come onto the units. They sometimes have come over to talk. The maintenance also are amazing, and I have observed the way they interact with the residents, acknowledging them and even one maintenence staff took a residents hand and guided them. But we also have to say the carers and nurses that work on the unit that my mum is on are fantastic. Each and everyone of them are are a credit to vida grange. They go above and beyond and are person centred. I observe the way the interact not only with my mum but the other residents and they treat them with dignity, respect, kindness and show each resident so much attention and love.

Thank you!!

Dad has been living at Vida Grange for just over a year now. He is fully settled in with all his needs being met. Vida Grange was recommended to us after a failed admission to another care home who couldn't meet Dad's needs. The reason Vida Grange worked for Dad is because they put residents needs first, where the other home put the routine and requirements of the home first.

Staff at Vida Grange can't do enough for the residents and you can see this in their approach to all residents. The feedback from other family members and friends who visit is that it is a wonderful place for Dad to be. We feel he is safe, well fed and well looked after. We are kept informed as to his well being and any requests for information are promptly met. It was a hard decision to make to move Dad into a care home with all the feelings of guilt that brought with it, but with Vida Grange's approach to care we can see it was the right decision for Dad and his wellbeing and safeguarding.

My father has Alzheimer's dementia which requires 24-hour nursing care. My family were so relieved when our father was accepted and admitted to Vida Grange. He had specialist needs on admission which other places were not able to meet. Since he has been in Vida Grange his needs have been fully met. My dad is settled and happy there. He is cared for to the highest standard. The staff have true leaders and the team are a team. I am very grateful for the support the team provide to my family. I am a GP and understand what challenges and needs people with dementia have and Vida Grange manage them all excellently.

My mum has lived at Vida Grange for over 5 years now. I am so glad we found Vida. Having had a raft of very bad experiences with the first care home she went to, we were all pretty traumatised. The team have been amazing over the years. It is wonderful to see that Mum is loved and cared for. When I am away, I know she is in safe, competent and caring hands, in a place she feels at home.

After a period in hospital, my wife was admitted to Vida Grange in Harrogate in early 2023. This was a period of great uncertainty and worry for us, however, my wife settled quickly and has remained so for the months she has been a resident there. She is exceptionally well cared for, always clean, warm, well fed and enjoys one to one care through her waking hours. The staff in Montpellier house are fantastic with her, meeting her every need as it arises. Although those needs are complex and increasingly challenging, they are always professional, but always go about their work with a smile and good humour. I consider myself and my wife to be fortunate to have found such a wonderful home for her.

Excellent care home...my mum has been at Vida Grage Care Home for over a year now and I am more than happy with the care she has received. It is clean, friendly and the care she receives is above and beyond any other care home that she has been in. Nothing is too much trouble and it has a laid-back, relaxed atmosphere feeling more like a home rather than a care home. The meals are plentiful and good quality with snacks and treats in between. The staff have compassion and understanding and most importantly, they allow family members to have a voice and opinion about their loved one's care and will do everything possible to meet their needs and requests.

Mum is in her happy place now with no anxiety or stress and the staff adore her, she is content and settled thanks to Vida Grange. She loves her room and also her Vida Grange family and I cannot thank them enough.

Vida Grange Care Home is amazing. The level of care is brilliant, the staff are so good, nothing is too much trouble, so patient.
Vida Grange is purpose-built, a modern building, but still feels like home. Vida is so unlike many other care homes which tend to be converted old buildings which are not suited to the needs of residents. At Vida all the rooms are en-suite, there’s a continuous walkway around each of the units so no dead ends to cause upset, the food is amazing and the patients are treated as residents, almost family.

The staffing ratio is much better than other care homes, with a full-time nurse and several carers. After two failed placements in other care homes, my wife settled here really quickly, she has a lot of personal needs and is not mobile. All her needs are catered for. Best care home.
