My mother has been resident here since September 2024.
We have been and continue to be impressed with the facilities, the excellent staff and the level of care.
Everybody who who works here is outstanding, from the admin staff, kitchen staff, to the carers nurses and Management. We could not have
found better

We are so pleased that we found High Meadows for our dear mother who has looked after others all her life and now deserves to be looked after herself.

Mum has lived at High Meadows for 7 months now and has settled in well to the new routine and friendly and helpful staff. Initially her room was

upstairs, but she moved downstairs to a room with a little garden when one became available. She now enjoys the activities the home organizes and the last time I visited she was very happy arranging fresh flowers as part of the activity. Sometimes live performers come to the home to entertain the residents. I am pleased that mum is taken outside for activities when the weather allows.

A few weeks ago our mother had her 100th birthday and the care home pulled out all the stops for a fabulous family birthday tea. They went over and above what we expected, thank you to all those concerned.

I would like to thank all the staff for everything they do for mum and totally recommend High Meadows.

My mother moved into High Meadows for end of life care where she stayed for 6 weeks up until her dignified and peaceful death. She and all of us who visited her were shown the utmost respect and compassion by all care staff, regardless of their role. The staff understood and responded sensitively to
her needs, and listened and acted upon any concerns we expressed. Her care plan was regularly reviewed to ensure her symptoms were controlled and she was comfortable. We will never forget the kindness at such a distressing time. The staff communicated well with us, as well as members of the palliative care team, ensuring Mum's best interests were paramount.

From the outset, the manager and admin team were professional, welcoming and efficient. Her room was comfortable and clean, and her privacy and dignity maintained at all times.

We knew Mum was in safe hands right from the outset.

My husband was in your care for about 10 weeks. During that time he was treated with dignity, compassion and excellent care and treatment by every member of staff at High Meadows. The accommodation was first class always warm and comfortable, and no request from him was ever denied. Sadly, he passed
away but when there, I knew he was in safe hands and I could rest easy. Thank you all.

High Meadows is always a welcoming environment. The staff are friendly and willing to help with any enquiries. I was impressed with the surroundings and the standard of care and cleanliness. I have visited a number of care homes in the past while looking for a residence for my mother and only regret
that this home was not open then.
I am not normally at the home when meals are served but my aunt has always enjoyed the food and loves the homemade cake with tea in the afternoon. The carers always greet her by name even though she no longer hears them.
Relatives were kept informed and reassured during the recent coronavirus incident, masks, gloves and gowns were provided for any visitors and additional cleaning was carried out.
There is a good variety of activities provided for residents each month.

Upstairs residents appear to be left out of entertainment schedule, most of the time. No stimulation. Sometimes they are unattended in lounge or bedroom whilst staff are in meetings. On one occasion someone needed personal care, but no staff on hand, even though resident was calling out.
Staff very
pleasant, and willing and caring, when around. Activities organiser post mostly vacant. Food menu has not much variety for those on soft food diet.
Reply from Mariana Costa, Home Manager at High Meadows

Thank you for sharing your feedback. Please be assured that we are committed to offering a variety of activities and we work hard to fill any vacant roles in the Home to ensure we have the right people to meet our residents' needs. We always consider each resident's preferences and health conditions when planning activities. While some may not participate in group sessions, we offer 1-1 activities tailored to their needs, which may not always be immediately visible but still provide valuable engagement. Regarding the soft food menu, we ensure it follows the daily menu as closely as possible, providing choices where we can. For residents who are unable to express preferences, we follow their care plans and consult families for guidance. If you'd like to discuss in more detail, I'd be happy to arrange a meeting at your convenience. Thank you once again for bringing your valuable feedback to our attention as we continue to enhance the care and experience for all of our residents.

The family found the care given to my elderly Father was excellent. The staff genuinely took an interest and concern in my Fathers welfare and comfort. Knowing this meant the family did not have the constant worry about how my Father was doing on a day-to-day basis as the staff always kept us fully

I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere appreciation for the exceptional care and service provided at High Meadows. The professionalism and friendliness of the staff are truly commendable. Everyone goes above and beyond to make my mom feel comfortable and supported, which creates such a warm

We are very happy with the excellent care and nursing needs for our dad, the staff are always polite and friendly and they show respect to our dad, especially when feeding him, they are so gentle with him. His room is always clean and when we visit he is always clean and cared for. As soon as you walk
through the door in reception it's clean, airy and bright. The food our dad received is excellent to the point we could eat it, good portions. It was his 90th birthday 2 weeks ago and the staff came in with a birthday cake and sang happy birthday to him. They also decorated too. Honestly we have nothing but praise for the Home and the staff.

Our mother has been in the home for two months now. All staff I have had contact with have been very friendly and helpful. I also feel that the staff do their very best to accommodate the needs and wishes of our mother. Activities are held daily and seem appropriate. There have been some very good music
events which our mother has really enjoyed. Other residents are also friendly and speak extremely positively about the home. I do find the rooms a little small but there is adequate space for clothing and personal belongings. The beds are very high quality with anti bedsore mattresses and the room is kept spotlessly clean. My mother also has a small private outside area which for her is lovely. She has a bird table and enjoys watching the activity. The food is also excellent, the meat is tender and there is good variety. Management is efficient and responsive. The cost of the home is a little on the high side, particularly in view of the smaller rooms, but otherwise we are extremely satisfied.

Dad arrived unexpectedly at High Meadows a little over three months ago now to a wonderfully warm welcome, since which time he has received nothing but kindness from everyone with whom he has had contact. However there is one significant area of concern which is that of communication. Whilst unfailingly
kind, a number of staff have a poor understanding /command of spoken English which causes Dad considerable anxiety and stress as he is never quite sure whether or not he has been understood. Likewise having to seek clarification about what has just been communicated to him can sometimes leave him not just confused but at times feeling unsafe.

My main worry is the lack of management presence at weekends, with emails being left until Monday to be dealt with.
The staff are very friendly and helpful and my father seems very happy at High Meadows. Long may it continue.

I want to reassure you that while there isn't a manager physically on-site over the weekend, I am always monitoring emails and in close contact with the home. I also conduct spot visits and have access to the CCTV system for remote checks, ensuring continuous oversight. Additionally, the Deputy Manager and I are available via an on-call number for any urgent concerns, and our reception and nursing teams are ready to assist with any matters that arise. We've had no incidents related to weekend management, and I am always available to meet with relatives if needed. Our almost 100 year old mother has been at High Meadows for about 3 months, before which she was living pretty independently in her own house. She made the decision to go into residential care as she felt she did not want "to have to think any longer". She has indeed earned the privilege of just having
a rest and her wish has been realised. My sister and I in turn, could not have hoped for her to have more caring, professional and skilled staff or a more comfortable room (complete with small garden).
Mum suffers a level of anxiety at times and the staff not only care very well for her physically, they are also understanding of her emotional needs.
The overall ambiance at High Meadows is friendly, calm and reassuring and the communication between the home and family is excellent.
We feel very lucky to have found High Meadows for mum and cannot recommend it highly enough!

I cannot praise management, nursing staff and indeed every staff member, in the office, the caterers and all the care givers enough. My mother was treated with such kindness, gentleness and respect throughout her stay. At her eventual passing, every aspect was handled with compassion and professionalism.
This meant that a very emotional and distressing time for the family was eased as much as was humanly possible, for which we all express our sincere and heartfelt thanks.

From day one the care and compassion shown by all staff was exemplary. She was very warmly welcomed which was important given this was her first excursion into care and thereafter, she developed a perfect professional relationship with the staff who dealt with her personal needs. The management equally
were fully consistent with her situation and always aware of her current position.

My brother and I cannot thank High Meadows enough for the care and compassion they have shown, not only to our parents but also to us while our parents were residents at the home. Mum and Dad were both admitted after recent stays in hospital, initially for respite. Mum came home after 8 weeks but Dad,
who had greater nursing needs, stayed there. The staff were outstanding. Dad was treated with respect and dignity at all times. All staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The home is like a hotel, in fact, that's what we called it 'the respite hotel'. The rooms are clean, spacious and well-equipped. There are activities for residents in the morning and afternoon and the dining rooms are beautifully laid out. Dad spent 3 months at the home and sadly passed away at the end of October. All staff went above and beyond our expectations following Dad's death - their support for us as a family has been amazing, even in the days since his passing, this has continued.
