Their mission is to provide a home from home environment, delivering personalised care by highly skilled and compassionate staff. Communal areas can be used for socialising and relaxation, including dayrooms, a library, cinema, salon with attending beauty therapists, and newly landscaped gardens.

Each unit has its own dining room with daily menu’s tailored to taste. Vegetarian and special dietary considerations are provided for. Meals can be served in the dining rooms or as room service, for those residents who prefer to eat in their own room.

I value my independence (such as it is) for there is help when needed. I value the endless number of carers for their empathy and kindness. It is no easy task for these Indian lassies caring in a different language and culture and they do very well on the whole.
Reply from The Manager, Manager at High MeadowsThank you very much and really appreciate your kindness for commenting on the service provided. It is never possible to achieve anything without your support.

My dad came into High Meadows for respite care after a hospital stay. The staff are very caring and look after him very well. Everything is immaculately clean and the food is good. Dad has Parkinson's and having his medication managed for him has been a higher weight off his mind. I would not hesitate
to recommend High Meadows.
Reply from The Manager, Manager at High MeadowsDear Katy,
Thank you very much for your kind and encouraging words. I shall pass this to all the staff. We will continue to do our best for dad with your support!

My Grandfather was very well cared for at High Meadows and I would recommend them to others. His room was very comfortable and we always felt that all family members including much younger members of the family could visit at any point. The staff were always very friendly and caring.
Reply from The Manager, Manager at High MeadowsDear Gemma,

Thank you for your kind review. I will surely pass the words to the team. Please do stop by when you are in the area for a cuppa, we would love that. Take care!

I have been convalescing at High Meadows now for 15 months. I have found the house and staff welcoming and supportive. The home is clean, tightly run and has a nice ambience; the staff are friendly and helpful. Some staff have gone beyond the call of duty by providing me with emotional and mental support
when needed. There are regular stretches/exercises involving residents as coordinated by the activities team and a steady stream of activities that culminate in a summer fete. The food is satisfactory although more healthy options would be good. Like most care home establishments turnover of staff is an issue.
Reply from Norma Vidot, Manager at High MeadowsThank you very much for your feedback, much appreciated, will share with staff.

My father is on the nursing unit and has been treated well with his health issues as they have progressed. The staff, although busy, find time to communicate with me and update me, there is a choice of food at mealtimes and it is always well presented. We have experienced some problems with laundry.

All of the staff and management were extremely kind and helpful. They treated Dad with respect and dignity throughout and spent time with him helping to feed him. They were always making sure he had enough to drink and catered for his needs. They always offered us tea when we visited and always told
us what Dad has been doing and how he had reacted. On the day my dad passed away all of the staff were so kind and caring.

Mum initially went into respite care in December 2019. However, dementia diagnoses and now in the dementia unit, the care and support received from High Meadows have been excellent - the team are mindful of not only treating my mum with respect but me too. Lockdown has been exceptionally difficult,
but I am confident all that could have been done, has been done.

Under the present ongoing circumstances with no access to the home for many months, it is difficult to give my views. Having only 2 or 3 external visits lately my answers can only be based on what my wife tells me. I can see when visiting that she is happy and contented and pleased with the staff.

Since arriving at the care home I have been well looked after with kindness. I've also been encouraged to mix with other residents and join in with any activities. It was strange at first but we got used to it. Medical needs are kept an eye on.

After my wife died 2 years ago, my family decided that I should not look after myself and recommended me to move to High Meadows. Since moving here I have felt very much at home, and the prospect of spending the rest of my life here is the best future I can imagine.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.555)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.555) out of 10 for High Meadows is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 42 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 40 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.555 for High Meadows is calculated as follows: ( (329 Excellents x 5) + (120 Goods x 4) + (32 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) + (7 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 490 Ratings = 4.555
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for High Meadows is based on 40 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 45 registered maximum number of service users is 9, which has been reached with 40 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
