High Meadows

A very well-liked care home with all the residents cared for in all facilities.

Everything is excellent except for the food which is deteriorating, not as good as it was when I first came. Everything else is very good.

Don't be fooled by the smart surroundings. The care is very poor. We raised concerns, the manager did not comply with the concerns procedure. She was defensive, one of the most dismissive and arrogant people I have ever met, who also lied. It is clearly a business and not a caring organisation at all. The carers were pleasant but they were overstretched which meant people did not have their basic care needs met. I have escalated my concerns to the company director - he listened but nothing changed, so it is now with the CQC.

My mother likes living here but she would like more attention to the small things which make life pleasurable - more attentive to her personal needs - being treated as an individual.

My mother has settled in very well and I would highly recommend this nursing home.

I am very happy in this excellent care home, celebrating my 90th birthday next month. I have as much care as needed being fairly independent. In fact, my health has improved since living here, having 24-hour care and enjoying excellent food, though too much at times! My patio garden, bird feeders, and water bowl give an excellent source of pleasure. My computer keeps me in daily up-to-date info into the big wide world while living in a comfortable bubble.

I have been living at High Meadows for over a year. I am happy in my room and with the care I receive from the staff, who are all very kind to me.

The care staff are friendly and caring and respectful and approachable at all times. The surroundings are lovely and the home peaceful for all residents.

My friend was well cared for by caring staff. When well enough she enjoyed excellent activities. She ate well from the very good menu.

I has a very restful time at High Meadows. The staff were very sympathetic to my needs and a very low time in my life.

I value my independence (such as it is) for there is help when needed. I value the endless number of carers for their empathy and kindness. It is no easy task for these Indian lassies caring in a different language and culture and they do very well on the whole.

It was a lovely day put on by the staff. Great entertainment, great food, and well attended by family and friends. We can't praise enough the wonderful effort put in by everyone involved.

My dad came into High Meadows for respite care after a hospital stay. The staff are very caring and look after him very well. Everything is immaculately clean and the food is good. Dad has Parkinson's and having his medication managed for him has been a higher weight off his mind. I would not hesitate to recommend High Meadows.

My Grandfather was very well cared for at High Meadows and I would recommend them to others. His room was very comfortable and we always felt that all family members including much younger members of the family could visit at any point. The staff were always very friendly and caring.

Very pleased with this care home. Care provided by staff is exemplary. Home environment is comfortable and airy, and reported food is delicious.

My mother has settled very well at High Meadows. We are extremely pleased with the care she is receiving and the friendliness of all the staff. The home has a bright and welcoming environment with lovely gardens which my mother really enjoys.

I have been convalescing at High Meadows now for 15 months. I have found the house and staff welcoming and supportive. The home is clean, tightly run and has a nice ambience; the staff are friendly and helpful. Some staff have gone beyond the call of duty by providing me with emotional and mental support when needed. There are regular stretches/exercises involving residents as coordinated by the activities team and a steady stream of activities that culminate in a summer fete. The food is satisfactory although more healthy options would be good. Like most care home establishments turnover of staff is an issue.

My father is on the nursing unit and has been treated well with his health issues as they have progressed. The staff, although busy, find time to communicate with me and update me, there is a choice of food at mealtimes and it is always well presented. We have experienced some problems with laundry.

The receptionist was helpful, pleasant and kind.
