Nestling in the Welsh Valleys with views of the Blorenge Mountain, this stunning new care home opened November 2018. This luxurious home offers 70 ensuite fully furnished rooms with residential, nursing and dementia care available. A fully inclusive package is offered to include all care, meals, snacks and alcohol, laundry, housekeeping, hairdressing, physio and chiropody. There are also companion suites for couples to stay together.

The home has a gym with the very latest equipment designed for the older client, cinema, bar and a range of daily activities. A range of activities will be on offer seven days a week.

Family and friends are encouraged to visit whenever they wish with a guest suite available and private dining facilities.

Some of the staff were lovely at Foxhunters. Unfortunately, my mother passed away here on the 7th of December, and the bracelet she was wearing disappeared never to be seen again, this was very upsetting to family members, please be aware of your relative's jewellery.

I am so sorry that your mother’s bracelet was lost whilst she was in Foxhunters Care. As I discussed with you when we met, as the bracelet was elasticated, we can only assume that it came off with her clothing when staff were supporting her. Despite an extensive search, which included the laundry and all other areas, it could not be found. We appreciate that this was distressing for you and are extremely sorry. We did offer to replace it at our cost but you declined. Clearly, we understand that we could not compensate for the sentimental loss. All of your mother’s gold jewellery was returned to you as were all of her other possessions. We always do our utmost to care for all possessions belonging to everyone living in the home. Please accept our sincerest and heartfelt apologies.

My dear friend has recently passed away after staying at Foxhunters approx 4 years. I visited her often during this time, more recently, have been there every day for over a week. Whilst the home has all the basic needs, clean, comfortable, lots of food. It is my observations of the staff I wish to
commend. Male and female from professional to non professional. They are the most attentive, happy, cheerful people with empathy, compassion and love for each attendee, knowing them all by name, serving their every need. The resident hairdresser, again cheerful, attentive making the ladies look beautiful, eyebrows and nails, they love it and she loves them all. Whilst Foxhunters home is beautiful, it's nothing without the dedicated, hard-working staff to enhance it and make it home for so many.

I first came to Foxhunters in 2021 while my children were away for a week, and the same again in 2022. I found Foxhunters excellent, although I didn't join in any activities. The food was very good, and the staff were kind and helpful. As I walk with a zimmer frame, I found it difficult to get about
and do things. The staff helped me shower each morning and brought me coffee or wine whenever I asked. A television was provided and I could watch it whenever I liked. I will certainly come back again and would highly recommend it.

I am a friend of a resident and can say although she has Alzheimer's she is treated will great respect and dignity. The home has a "resident of the day" programme and I always get a report about her in detail on that day.
The staff are wonderful.
I recommend Foxhunters to anyone.

Mum is struggling to settle away from her home but could not be in a better place with kinder and more understanding staff. They are tireless and caring, especially the two staff members who cope with her at her most difficult. All the staff are wonderful.

The environment at Foxhunters Care Community is just beautiful - my father has been there for the last 8 months and every time we've visited it has been equally immaculate and smell free! The gardens are lovely and the view of the mountain unbeatable. The staff are very approachable, helpful and professional
and not understaffed. Sadly most care homes I contacted to find somewhere for my father were not this way. Phones rang for a long time before being answered, sometimes no one on reception, spoken to very abruptly, calls not returned etc, and the same experience with a home he was in briefly. From my and my father's account, the great majority of carers here are genuinely caring, kind and friendly, and the manager has been helpful with listening to and addressing concerns. There is a really good range of activities throughout each day - something for everyone. Food has been a bit below expectations which is the only slight downside.

As soon as you go through the entrance you feel as if you walked into a 5 star Hotel. Some of the residents are usually sat chatting playing cards/games having a drink in the cafe area, they all seem at home and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Mum has been bed-bound for over 10 years and as
her health was deteriorating and needed 24 hour care we had to find a care home with nursing. We visit weekly, Mum's own room is clean and the bedding is freshly laundered and the room smelled lovely. Mum has admitted that it was the best home we could have found for her, Mum has told us that the staff treat her with respect, nothing is too much trouble and most importantly they take their time feeding her and seeing to her personal care. Mum has been in Foxhunters Care Community for over a year now and we have no concerns about her care. Thank you to all staff

Excellent modern facility. Well designed communal areas with wide corridors connecting private bedrooms. The rooms and bathroom are high quality and always spotlessly clean whenever I visit. Laundry and general upkeep is of a very high standard. On a personal level care and nutrition of residents is
something that sets Foxhunters Care Community apart from other care facilities. With the cruel onset of dementia, it’s a credit to all members of staff at Foxhunters, that your loved ones are in capable professional care and just not another number.

The admin staff are always available, cheerful and able to help with any queries. The care staff are amazingly patient and kind and will sort any problem promptly and efficiently. They are all trained well in handling dementia. The nurses know what they are doing! My mother's condition has improved
greatly since she was admitted and, despite being very resistant to going into nursing care, seems to be quite settled and comparatively contented. The physical surroundings are attractive and although my mother is unable to take part in most of them, the range of activities and services provided seems to be excellent.

Following my mother's recent fall, and subsequent stay in hospital for a week or so, the staff at Foxhunters Care Community have been amazingly helpful with arranging visits and keeping me informed. My mother always says that they look after her so well, and she can have whatever she wants. She's very

While as a family, we were on holiday my mother needed respite care. I found it difficult to find somewhere that could look after her for just one week. I approached Foxhunters Care Community and from the first email to the end of my mother’s stay I founded the staff professional, helpful and kind.
My mother and I had a tour of the home to ease her fears before the stay. Foxhunters is all you could wish for your relative to stay safe. She had a lovely time, the food was excellent, the staff and other residents were friendly and she found the whole experience enjoyable.

What an absolute disappointment to see a self-described award-winning facility not treat my mother-in-law with the dignity she deserves and promised. Foxhunters has proven to be a shiny new pin, but we have discovered the pin is hollow. Saying sorry repeatedly is not good enough when action is required.
The stress you have caused us all would be forgivable but lies never are.

I am seeking to remove my mother after 11 weeks of a catalogue of failings and "mistakes"(someone outright lied to a social worker). Since arrival, my mother has been left alone in bed alone for 11 weeks. She has lost the power of speech. No attempt was made to have a chair in her room and engage in
the facilities they promised (and she is paying for). She is not allowed visitors/private carers to read to her or talk to her, and she has lost 9kgs and no one at Foxhunters told me. I am horrified.

We are sorry that you feel so negative about the care your mother is receiving. We always pride ourselves on the high standards of care given to those living in the home, the positive comments we receive are testament to this. We have apologised directly to you for the miscommunication. We have offered you the opportunity to meet to discuss this but you have not responded. We did not lie to the social worker. Your mother has not been left on her own in her room for 11 weeks. Staff spend a considerable amount of time with your mother whilst undertaking personal care, assisting her with her diet & offering activities. Your mother’s loss of speech is as a result of her deteriorating condition – this has not changed since her admission to the home. We have never refused visits to see your mother and have welcomed you to the home whenever requested. We acknowledge that your mother has lost weight since her admission but not 9Kg as you state, this was an issue prior to admission. We will ensure that we do everything to ensure the transfer to another home is as seamless as possible and until then, continue to offer a high standard of care.

My husband spent the final days of his life in this care home. I cannot find the words to express my thanks to all the staff for the excellent care, compassion and support that he and I received during that time. The professionalism of all the staff, as well as their kindness and the way in which my
husband was treated with dignity and respect, was second to none. The setting and facilities at Foxhunters are truly beautiful, but these pale into insignificance compared to the standard of care which all staff provides. I am so thankful that my husband was able to spend his final days here, receiving the love and care he so deserved!

My mum seems to be relaxed and happy since being transferred to Foxhunters earlier this year from hospital after suffering a stroke last year. After visiting her for the first time last week, she was chatty and making jokes and has her sense of humour back, I am sure the nursing staff and carers have
been party to this. Very impressed with her room and the amazing bed! She loves the food and has told us she felt like the queen when the chef came to visit her when she arrived to go through her menu choices, she was very impressed. The level of care has been phenomenal and we are so happy that she has had such exemplary care. We are so grateful as a family that the staff have done everything possible to protect all the residents during the Covid pandemic, it is much appreciated and has been hard on the residents, families and all staff. The level of helpfulness shown by all staff to us has been amazing, this truly seems to be an extremely well-run and happy home.

My mother has been a resident of Foxhunters Care Community from a month after it initially opened. The surroundings are wonderful, very high quality both inside and out. The home feels like a home, not a care home, and I am sure that this contributes a great deal to her wellbeing.
The standard of
care is very high. I have total confidence that my Mother is receiving the best of care. Her condition has improved beyond all our expectations since she moved in. The last year has been an extremely difficult one, but the staff have always kept us informed of the latest developments with visiting restrictions, and have been reassuring and clear around the situation with my Mother.
The programme of activities is very good, very engaging, and the staff do their best to find something that will interest all of the individuals there. The food is excellent, and her diet is catered for well.
I would recommend Foxhunters very highly to anyone thinking of moving a loved one there.

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 70 registered maximum number of service users is 14. 13 Positive Reviews ÷ 14 = 0.929
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I am delighted to be appointed as the new Care Home Manager at Foxhunters, Abergavenny.


I started my career as a care assistant in 2005 working my way up to home manager. I eventually moved in to a regional role supporting homes all over the UK.


I am extremely excited to be able to support the wonderful team here at Foxhunters as well as ensuring we continue to deliver exceptional care to the ladies and gentlemen who live here.
