The team at Briggs Lodge are proud of the home’s Good CQC rating (April 2023). This is testament to the dedication of the team, who provide residential, dementia, nursing, palliative and respite care, which can be pre-booked in advance.

Run by not-for-profit provider Sanctuary Care, highlights of the home’s report include comments about how welcomed loved ones feel, how kind and caring the staff are and how well managed it is (read more below).

The team at Briggs Lodge share Sanctuary Care’s vision of Enriching Lives, which is centred around the six senses people need to be happy and fulfilled – a sense of achievement, belonging, continuity, purpose, significance and security. Following their Enriching Lives framework, staff work closely with residents to meet their senses and achieve their goals.

The home has beautiful spaces for the residents to enjoy, with a warm and homely feel. The spacious bedrooms have walk-in wet rooms. Some of the ground floor bedrooms have doors opening out onto the gardens.

There is a vintage tearoom, which has a balcony overlooking the gardens, where residents can enjoy tea and home-baked cakes with loved ones, who are welcome to visit at any time. And the garden room and library are also lovely spaces to enjoy.

The home has a cinema room, for movie nights and a hair and beauty salon, complete with a nail bar, for those who like a spot of pampering!

There are light and airy lounge and dining rooms, where residents can enjoy delicious home-cooked meals, prepared by the chef, as well as afternoon tea, with home-baked cakes served daily.

Outside, the garden is a lovely area to relax in, with wheelchair-friendly pathways and raised beds, for those who enjoy a spot of gardening.

Briggs Lodge is situated in the heart of Wiltshire, in the pretty market town of Devizes, with excellent transport links, it is a short walk from the local shops and a museum.

The care I have received is excellent. The staff are caring, friendly and will respond to any requests cheerfully and make time to chat and are making my nursing care exemplary. The food is very good and tasty. All in all, I am treated as though in a 5-star hotel.

Both parents moved in from Liverpool in February and Dad went, in July. The staff were very supportive. Mum remains and is well looked after. She enjoys the activities and food.

My husband had one week of respite and was happy to return for a second week later. He felt safe and well looked after. Generally, he enjoyed his meals, but sometimes the meat was dry and hard to cut, probably because it had been kept warm for too long! He especially liked the rice puddings!

My mother has only been at Briggs Lodge for a short time, but we have so far found the home to be a happy, caring place, with some members of staff going over and above to make Mother's stay a happy one e.g with hair curling, nail painting and leading for her, as she has little sight. Although my mother
can be very difficult at times, especially over food, the staff do all they can to accommodate her needs. An opportunity to discuss her progress would be good though.

As this was my mum's first respite stay, I was understandably anxious, but my fears were soon completely allayed. The staff and management were excellent and nothing was too much trouble. The rooms are excellent, with great facilities and Mum slept extremely well during her visit. The food was of excellent
quality and very plentiful. Always a cup of tea on hand. The activities provided something for everyone and Mum loved them all. Thank you for looking after her so well.

My uncle found it difficult to settle into the care home, due to being 93 years old and living independently most of his life. I found the staff at Briggs Lodge very flexible with my uncle's needs. They also had to deal with my sister trying to influence my uncle, leaving in a confused and angry state
after her visits. The management staff have my full support. They keep me informed fully of my uncle's conditions, needs and well-being. I would recommend this care home to others.

Generally quite happy with Mother's care over the last six months. The staff are helpful and polite. The only issues are visiting restrictions and answering of phones. You have to book a visit but can take three or four hours to get a response. The same applies to getting access/answer at the door.
Have stood outside ringing the bell for 10-15 minutes, especially at the weekend.

My dad was only in the home for 5 months but in that time he thoroughly enjoyed it, he always referred to it as his new home. The staff were absolutely brilliant with dad. Every time I visited they were very welcoming to me and dad's great-grandson. My dad spoke fondly of all the staff regularly especially
the receptionist who went above and beyond to help dad. Thank you to all the staff for caring for my dad with such professionalism.

I was very impressed with the care provided to my mother by the staff at Briggs Lodge. My mothers stay was only two and a half months and during that time she had some complex needs. I found the staff to be caring and informative and my mother was well looked after. The home and facilities were always
clean and well maintained and there were always staff available to answer queries and provide support when required.

It's a different life that I have been used to as I was living in my own flat and I have found it difficult to mix with everyone, but I have to and am doing so as I can't go back. I must look forward. All the staff are great and look in often as I am inclined to stay in my room.

When I dealt with the paper work for my dear mother in January I was treated very well, everyone that I met were very friendly. I am very happy with the care that my dear mother is receiving at all levels and to this day my feelings have not changed. When visiting you are greeted at the main door by
a very pleasant young lady and you are given a Covid test before you may enter, if your test is negative then you are escorted to your selected resident. Briggs Lodge Residential and Nursing Home is a home to be proud of.

All of the family is delighted with the care of our relative at Briggs Lodge Residential and Nursing Home. During the 18 months she has lived there, she has been treated with kindness and respect. The care, catering, laundry, and cleaning services are of an exceptionally high standard. My mother often
says how lovely the staff are and is very happy. Briggs Lodge has worked hard, during the pandemic, to ensure contact with family is maintained by offering a range of visiting and virtual visiting options. We are very grateful that the care home has worked hard to keep us in touch. Finally, the accommodation and facilities are wonderful and have provided Mum with a lovely environment.

At 96 my mother fractured her hip and had a fall. Sadly, we had to make the decision for Mum to go into a care home. For the family, it was important to find the most suitable accommodation.
After one year I decided her first home was not the right place. Searching, I came across Briggs Lodge, Devizes.
This care home made us feel like part of the family. Warm, comforting and always supporting. Staff were excellent, the room clean, food good, with a coffee room and cinema. It is just like a hotel.
Mum passed away in her 100th year. If you are like us and having to make a hard decision – we recommend Briggs Lodge, Devizes.
