Alban Manor is a family-owned nursing home, close to St. Albans town centre. Nursing staff are on site 24/7 and are supported by a team of skilled carers. The Windsor Suite, located on the ground floor, provides support for 37 people who need more help with everyday life, including help with physical care needs. The Balmoral Suite, on the first floor, provides support for 43 residents who may have a dementia type condition or other mental health needs.

All bedrooms are en-suite with a homely feel. Personal living space is important and residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms by bringing in small pieces of furniture, ornaments and pictures. All bedrooms have profiling hospital beds for comfort and ease of access.

At Alban Manor you will find a friendly community. There are beautiful communal lounges and dining spaces for residents to enjoy. These include the art deco film house and zen wellness centre. The activities team ensure there is plenty to fill the days. From yoga to bingo, gardening club, quizzes, music sessions and hairdressing and so much more. Plenty to join in or just to sit and watch, whatever mood takes you.

Food is nutritious and prepared on site by the chef and his team. Dietary requirements and special requests can be accommodated.

Care at Alban Manor is person-centred and residents, and their families, are actively involved in care planning. Here individual personalities are nurtured and respected.

It has been a traumatic period for my elderly mother having to move at 92 years of age. The staff and management at Alban Court have been extremely helpful and supportive in helping my mother move and settle in very quickly. Nothing has been too much trouble for any member of staff or the management/administrative
team. The nursing home is very clean/welcoming and very well run.
I have no reservations in recommending the home.

My mother-in-law was welcomed to Alban Manor in June 2019 for a four week, discharge to assess. In July we were told by doctors that she was extremely poorly and unlikely to survive more than a couple of weeks. Due to the magnificent care that she received at Alban Manor and her strong will and determination,
she proved them wrong.
Sadly we lost her on 1st November but we will always be truly grateful to the staff at Alban Manor for their loving support not only to my mother-in-law but to the whole family. It was clear to see that all the staff members genuinely cared for her wellbeing. She could not have received better care in her last weeks. The family were always made very welcome, it truly felt like my mother-in-law's home where we could come and go as we pleased and the staff began to feel like family too. My mother-in-law was never a demonstrative lady but the staff used to blow her kisses as they her passed her door and she would reciprocate, her face would light up when they came into the room.

We were required to find a nursing home for our mother after a stay in hospital following a stroke. Alban Manor was recommended to us by the palliative team at the hospital and we contacted them regarding end of life care. They visited our mother the same day to assess her needs and then agreed to look
after her. We asked to have a high level of care and paid for this in addition to the continuing healthcare provided by the NHS. The transfer from hospital to Alban Manor was efficient. My mum was looked after wonderfully for five days by nurses and care staff. Every member of staff was friendly, kind and very sensitive to the situation and made the whole family feel welcome. We asked if prayers could be read to our mother and this was done regularly. The atmosphere in Alban Manor is warm and friendly whilst also being calm and professional. We feel truly honoured that our mother spent the last few days of her 91-year life in such a super place.

I think it has a great atmosphere. Staff friendly and will accommodate all your needs. Food great. Lovely new and fresh care home. Recommend to anyone. Beautiful big garden.

The staff are enthusiastic and caring. For the most part, the service is very good but occasional overlap of information between day and night staff happens to go astray. Rooms clean, bright and well-appointed. Food quality exceptionally good and restaurant area very homely and inviting. Activities
provided very good, cinema and crafts and music by very talented musicians.

My Mum was here for a couple of weeks recently and I have very mixed opinions of it. The rooms and gardens are lovely, as expected, as it is newly opened. The food was very good and the chefs excellent and very happy to make food for individual tastes. The young care assistants were very attentive and
kind. The nursing care I found very mixed, depending on who was on duty. Unfortunately, this let the whole experience down as I had hoped to have no worries with this, especially with the costs here.

I cannot recommend Alban Manor enough. At an extremely difficult time for our family this care home have truly made my dad feel so welcome and his family with real community spirit. It really is a home from home. The care from staff is excellent, sincere and comes from deep within. Activities delivered
with enthusiasm and good range -particularly enjoy chair yoga with dad and cinema with popcorn! Lots of happy moments already with resident dog Roxy. Last Sunday enjoyed a lovely roast dinner with dad. Food delicious and nutritious menu. Environment bright and cheerful. Thank you so much, Alban Manor, you have given us reassurance and relief that our dad is being very well looked after as his needs have become more with vascular dementia. Excellent dementia unit with nurses present 24 hours a day.

My mother needed respite care. Alban Manor was very welcoming and helped her settle in quickly, offering favourite food and drinks. The staff are all new but again nothing was too much especially the cook who asked her what she liked and how it was cooked. The team have made a great start to make the
house feel like a "home" and we were really pleased with the care they gave our mum. The house has been refurbished to a high standard, mum called it her "hotel".

My husband is getting on very well, the carers are very good and he is well looked after. Everyone is very polite and nothing is too much trouble. They always make sure he is comfortable. I feel like we are part of a family.

Alban Manor is a very friendly and welcoming nursing home which, in every respect, outshines the other care homes I have seen. The newly refurbished accommodation is tastefully decorated, fitted out to a very high standard and comprises a wide range of facilities and equipment. The clean, tidy and
comfortable rooms are well-appointed with light, modern furniture and en suite wet rooms, giving residents a pleasant homely feel. The tasty and varied choice of quality food served in the comfortable dining rooms gives the impression of a top class hotel. Spacious lounge and cinema areas and attractive gardens add to the ambience.
Management and staff are attentive and caring, whether to residents or to visiting friends and relatives. One gains the clear impression that this family concern and its staff have a vision of taking nursing care to a ‘higher level’ in order to satisfy residents’ and their family’s aspirations for the best care possible. They look certain to succeed!
