Alban Manor is focused on providing outstanding care. The staff are warm and friendly. They are open to receiving feedback and want to do the right thing for their residents. My mother is very happy at home and feels part of a community. Dementia is a difficult illness, and they have the expertise to deal with it.

We moved our Mum from another local care home due to a number of reasons, primarily lack of attention with regard to her health and well-being. Having lost faith in that particular care home, we decided to move our Mum to Alban Manor, where we were greeted from the start with warmth, kindness and compassion. Mum is now in a safe, clean place where she is being cared for by staff who are well-trained, kind, friendly and helpful. The rooms are bright, airy and clean, in fact, the whole home is spotless. There are daily activities and regular trips out. The management are very involved and keep a close eye on the day to day running of the care home. Nothing is too much trouble. There is always a warm welcome from all members of staff and management whenever we visit. As a family, we would highly recommend Alban Manor.

On arrival, a bright and happy greeting from the staff. The home itself is decorated in bright, light colours, unlike others that always beige and dull. All the staff were lovely, and nothing was ever too much trouble.
My Mother-in-law was very happy there for her short stay and enjoyed taking part in the daily activities in the communal lounge (that was not too big, therefore had a cosy appeal to it). She also used to enjoy her daily chats with the other residents.

Overall, I would highly recommend this nursing home

After the worst three months in our lives, we came to the nursing home, straight away it felt like we were going home. The atmosphere was so happy all the staff seeing you would always smile and say hello. I actually looked forward to coming to see her, even though she could not get out of bed she was always dressed and washed. Well done to everyone.

It has been a traumatic period for my elderly mother having to move at 92 years of age. The staff and management at Alban Court have been extremely helpful and supportive in helping my mother move and settle in very quickly. Nothing has been too much trouble for any member of staff or the management/administrative team. The nursing home is very clean/welcoming and very well run.

I have no reservations in recommending the home.

My mother-in-law was welcomed to Alban Manor in June 2019 for a four week, discharge to assess. In July we were told by doctors that she was extremely poorly and unlikely to survive more than a couple of weeks. Due to the magnificent care that she received at Alban Manor and her strong will and determination, she proved them wrong.

Sadly we lost her on 1st November but we will always be truly grateful to the staff at Alban Manor for their loving support not only to my mother-in-law but to the whole family. It was clear to see that all the staff members genuinely cared for her wellbeing. She could not have received better care in her last weeks. The family were always made very welcome, it truly felt like my mother-in-law's home where we could come and go as we pleased and the staff began to feel like family too. My mother-in-law was never a demonstrative lady but the staff used to blow her kisses as they her passed her door and she would reciprocate, her face would light up when they came into the room.

We were required to find a nursing home for our mother after a stay in hospital following a stroke. Alban Manor was recommended to us by the palliative team at the hospital and we contacted them regarding end of life care. They visited our mother the same day to assess her needs and then agreed to look after her. We asked to have a high level of care and paid for this in addition to the continuing healthcare provided by the NHS. The transfer from hospital to Alban Manor was efficient. My mum was looked after wonderfully for five days by nurses and care staff. Every member of staff was friendly, kind and very sensitive to the situation and made the whole family feel welcome. We asked if prayers could be read to our mother and this was done regularly. The atmosphere in Alban Manor is warm and friendly whilst also being calm and professional. We feel truly honoured that our mother spent the last few days of her 91-year life in such a super place.

The staff are enthusiastic and caring. For the most part, the service is very good but occasional overlap of information between day and night staff happens to go astray. Rooms clean, bright and well-appointed. Food quality exceptionally good and restaurant area very homely and inviting. Activities provided very good, cinema and crafts and music by very talented musicians.

Reply from Ramneek Grewal, Director at Alban Manor Nursing Home

Thank you for the lovely feedback Frank. We are indeed very fortunate with our caring staff. I take on board your comments about handing over information between day and night staff and look to see how we can further improve this process.

My Mum was here for a couple of weeks recently and I have very mixed opinions of it. The rooms and gardens are lovely, as expected, as it is newly opened. The food was very good and the chefs excellent and very happy to make food for individual tastes. The young care assistants were very attentive and kind. The nursing care I found very mixed, depending on who was on duty. Unfortunately, this let the whole experience down as I had hoped to have no worries with this, especially with the costs here.

Reply from Ramneek Grewal, Director at Alban Manor Nursing Home

At Alban Manor, we are always open to constructive feedback, so I thank you for your comments Hazel. Our Clinical Lead nurse is currently working with each of our nurses to ensure they are supported in their practice, their competencies assessed and to ensure that procedures and standards are maintained consistently every day. All your feedback will be fed back to the team.

I cannot recommend Alban Manor enough. At an extremely difficult time for our family this care home have truly made my dad feel so welcome and his family with real community spirit. It really is a home from home. The care from staff is excellent, sincere and comes from deep within. Activities delivered with enthusiasm and good range -particularly enjoy chair yoga with dad and cinema with popcorn! Lots of happy moments already with resident dog Roxy. Last Sunday enjoyed a lovely roast dinner with dad. Food delicious and nutritious menu. Environment bright and cheerful. Thank you so much, Alban Manor, you have given us reassurance and relief that our dad is being very well looked after as his needs have become more with vascular dementia. Excellent dementia unit with nurses present 24 hours a day.

My mother needed respite care. Alban Manor was very welcoming and helped her settle in quickly, offering favourite food and drinks. The staff are all new but again nothing was too much especially the cook who asked her what she liked and how it was cooked. The team have made a great start to make the house feel like a "home" and we were really pleased with the care they gave our mum. The house has been refurbished to a high standard, mum called it her "hotel".

Alban Manor is a very friendly and welcoming nursing home which, in every respect, outshines the other care homes I have seen. The newly refurbished accommodation is tastefully decorated, fitted out to a very high standard and comprises a wide range of facilities and equipment. The clean, tidy and comfortable rooms are well-appointed with light, modern furniture and en suite wet rooms, giving residents a pleasant homely feel. The tasty and varied choice of quality food served in the comfortable dining rooms gives the impression of a top class hotel. Spacious lounge and cinema areas and attractive gardens add to the ambience.

Management and staff are attentive and caring, whether to residents or to visiting friends and relatives. One gains the clear impression that this family concern and its staff have a vision of taking nursing care to a ‘higher level’ in order to satisfy residents’ and their family’s aspirations for the best care possible. They look certain to succeed!
